"Smoking Lily!" my friend replied, when I asked who made her cute scarf. "Smoking Lily!" another acquaintance said, as I inquired who designed her adorable dress. So yes, years before I visited Milkman's Daughter, I was well aware of their in-house label. I love the shop: whitewashed, airy, uncluttered, yet filled with niceness -- handmade gifts, quirky clothing, and a happy, creative spirit. And of course, most, if not all the garments are Smoking Lily, as this is the well-spring of the original, flattering, made-in-Canada line of clothing for real life. I purchased a jersey tunic, silk-screened with waves and birds, that I just can't stop wearing. And now, when asked where I got my dress, I'm proud to answer, "Smoking Lily!"

Can't say enough good things about this little shop.

LOVED the simple modern handmade designs and the print designs are just pure goodness.

My friend & I came up to Victoria for the weekend. It was my first town in this city & found it to be similar to home-- Portland! I was browsing Yelp for some boutiques & some Ma & Pa shops.

Honestly, this one caught my attention solely because of it's adorable & "easy-going" sounding name. Milkman's Daughter? Adorable! Sounds like a shop I would love to visit. It was not even a block away from the cafe we were enjoying coffee.

Appealing storefront & we were warmly greeted (and compliment) by the nice gal working that day! I felt welcomed & comfortable browsing the shop. I didn't feel pressured to buy anything neither was I made to feel inferior as some boutiques may make some people feel.

They got some lovely local products, handmade stuff of all sorts. Also, they have clothing for babies, toys, adorable books & toys! There is definitely something for everyone in here.

I recommend popping in yourself & paying them a visit!

I love this little shop. They have some really beautiful things, and I wish I could afford them all! To date, I'm quite happy with the purchase of an adorable striped cotton/linen dress and a silk screen scarf with a distinctive hare pattern that I'm constantly getting complimented on.

I had a ton of fun in here trying things on and looking around. The customer service was incredibly friendly, but not pushy or aggressive. To be honest, I feel like a lot of boutique shops in Victoria have a snobby "you're not good enough to be in my shop" attitude, and it was so refreshingly lovely not to encounter any of that here. I'm a fan.

I vowed I would find the source of Smoking Lily finery. This storefront was as imagined: thoughtful, quirky, and artistic. The kind staffers let me store my roller bag for an extended period and set me straight on the best coffee to be had in the Inner Harbor. I found flirty and bold clothing with a conscious. My favorite? The underlovelies in polka dot. So comfy chic. I bought a set of bike-themed hankies for the cyclenuts in my life. The Narwhal-print tea towels I picked up make great host and hostess gifts. Whenever I use my Happiness Soap, I think of hikes around Victoria and all that woodsy goodness. Next door is Brasserie l'Ecole, delicious French fare with generous bartenders and talented chefs. But that's a whole different story.

My girlfriend and I were recently visiting Victoria from Portland and stopped into this adorable shop. Such a cool collection, unique takes on old favorites--candles, pocket squares, jewelry, books... lots of local artists' work. The woman working was so friendly and sweet, asking us what we were up to, and even giving us a suggestion for an amazing coastal bike ride that we would take later that day. Thanks Milkman's Daughter!
