You need to literally be on your death bed type broke or you'll be easily denied for "too much income". 1st time I ever reach out for any kind of assistance & this justified why I don't do so & my regret on ever applying. Don't bother with this place. Like any other government agency, the employees such as Marcela Calleros-Padilla (DC63/Eligibility Worker III) care too much about the reputation of their agency than to actually assist people. Applied for CalFresh early August & they lost my first application so I had to re-apply. This caused so much confusion, they sent social workers to my home to verify. Instead, I enlightened them on how to do their jobs because apparently more than one worker had gotten my case & somehow it was my fault?! To sum up a lengthy, yet worthless experience I was denied for having "too much" income when in fact my income JUST covers rent & 2 main utility bills (PG&E/Con-service). My so called rep told me that the law in California & the most I can do is call my local office to ask for change? When I rebutted "I'm sorry for thinking you can at least help me with that since you can't help me with my application, you actually work for Calworks (or a state agency at that!) & you're likely to have more of a voice for the people likes us than I will" her reply was "Sorry, you feel that way". Such a disappointment to see how far is goes. I'd give this place zero stars but there is no option for it on Yelp. As far as help goes, you're better off at your local food pantry or keep up with the beautiful struggle (on your own).

Are you in need of their support/help. Well, if you don't mind waiting til hell freezes over, by all means, go for it. Just tired of all these agencies that tell you they can't help but give you NO alternatives to the right path. Bogus and waste of time and sooooo disappointing especially when you're in need. Get rid of these agencies that say yes to scammers and not the real people who need it.

I applied for food stamps for my daughter and I. I work for the courts and courts hours aren't normal right now with covid. I need some extra help with food right now. So I send in all my information.
I was told on the phone I shouldn't have an issue getting approved. I got DENIED. I make 1200 a month from work. My rent is 950. Plus I have utilities. After my bills and rent are paid I have nothing. Quit giving to people who want to sit on their ass. Please explain to me how I got denied over that! I called again to re apply and I have sat on the phone for 3 days in a row.
On hold for 30-60 at a time. Then I talk to someone and they transfer me to someone else. On hold again for 40 min. They transfer me BACK. Another 45 min. Then they transfer me to FUCKING MEDI-CAL! Are you serious!? Jesus Christ people. So much for helping people who need it. I'd give 0 stars if I could.

Must have gotten here on a good day. Only 4 people were waiting. When I arrive there was no one in line and was helped right away. Business must have taken 15 minutes max. Ladies behind the window were very helpful and pleasant. I was expecting the worst...like the DMV...hahaha
Parking lot is small so I would recommend going during slow times. Haven't been in this area in 20-30 years. Driving by the Pink Poodle and Burbank theater brought back memories. hahaha

They try very hard to get you through the process as fast as possible. Very helpful with forms, and they explain everything. Typical lines are the only drawback here.

Was here for a couple hours. Hoping it would be less, but expected to be there longer.
The employees really do everything they can to get you assistance. They are very kind and make sure you have the information you need.
Small waiting room, so any energetic children or annoying clients can become a little overwhelming. Bring a book or your phone and you will be fine
