South Bay Tinting

Came in for 3M tint on front windows and windshield. Prices were in line with others, within say $50 or other reputable installers. Communication was clear, and I had no problems setting an appointment.

After getting my car done, I noticed a small bubble on one of the windows a few weeks later which was not ideal. But George was very prompt in responding and scheduling me in to get it fixed. The staff were all courteous throughout the process. Though I wish it had been flawless from the start, I also have a lot of resect for an honest business that is willing to make things right. So for that I'd absolutely be willing to take my car here again in the future.

Arrived on time for my appointment, greeted immediately, no waiting. Car was done early and looks great. Very courteous and professional.

The work was done late 2022 and I have gone back & forth in my mind since then as to whether to post my review. Obviously I decided today that I would do so.

They are very professional and do very good work.

My only issue is that I was very clear going in as to why I wanted tint (on just my windshield). I have a lot of light sensitivity in my eyes and wanted some relief from the hellacious glare that not even sunglasses can provide. The lady in the office assured me that tint would help and that the lighter tint would be just fine.

It wasn't. It did not help me with my light sensitivity issues at all. I went back to let them know that the windshield tint did nothing to help me and the guy suggested I get a strip (a darker bit that extends maybe 6-8" down from the top of the windshield in a sort of half-dome shape) on top of the tint. So now I was into this for $325 for the tint and another $60 or so for the strip. I know they really wanted to help me, but unfortunately, even with the strip I have very little to no relief from the glare in my eyes at certain times of day, during certain times of the year.

I would still recommend them to others but if you have a problem with light sensitivity, then tint isn't going to help you, and a strip might not either.

After reaching out to several tint shops in the LA area, I went with South Bay Tinting because they were the only shop that specifically called out using Llumar film, which all the car forums I browsed through recommended.

I wanted them to tint the windows on my car and install some dual reflective film on a couple of windows on my house. They were unresponsive through Yelp messages and the request a quote form on their website, but always answered my phone calls. It seems I caught them at a bad time because George was out of town, but they were able to schedule my car tint at their shop immediately, and I was able to follow up to schedule the house windows once George came back.

The car tint (3M on the windshield, Llumar on the side windows and back window for a coupe) appointment was for noon and they finished around 5:30pm the same day. George came by my house on time for the house windows and finished the two of them within a couple of hours. As a side note, George is pretty chill and a good storyteller. The entire staff at the shop were all very friendly too.

As far as the tints themselves go, Llumar for the house and car windows and 3M for the front windshield pretty much all perform as well as the online reviews say. The car still gets hot if you leave it parked in the sun for over an hour (expected behavior based on what I've read), but commuting during rush hour on the freeway no longer forces me to blast the AC to keep myself cool under the sun (I can feel the difference on my arms when the light hits them). The house was instantly darker as George was installing the film and when I stepped outside it noticeably reflected light so you wouldn't be able to see inside during the day.

Since most negative reviews for tint shops involve the film bubbling: it was very minimal on my car when it was first installed, they looked like minor smears and you had to be looking for them to find them. Within a couple of days they were completely gone.

They were on the pricier side in comparison to other shops, but I did not expect them to be as cheap since they were using the brand name stuff.

All in all, I couldn't be happier with the results, and would recommend South Bay Tinting to anyone.

Request a quote on Yelp and was told either make a appointment or come in first thing in the morning and pick up the car at 6pm. Called in the morning to confirm but nobody answers and went to the shop to drop off the car, and the lady in the front says appointment only and won't acknowledge the Yelp message, and waste my one hour to drive there and home. Either need better communication between the employee or consistent policies. Maybe they have good tinting, but customer service could be better. Wont be back.

Great place to get 3M crystalline tint. My husband got his Mazda tinted here and it turned out really good. The service we got from George was excellent and the price was fair compared to others in the area.

Simply the best. Our family takes all our vehicles to George now. We originally were referred by the local Lexus dealer and now we know why.

Excellent service. I had my two front widows and 4" stripe on windshield tinted, car was done in 1 hr and looks fabulous.
