    About the Business

Established in 1961. Are you in need of a new washer and dryer? Maybe you need a belt for your dryer? Here at A-1 Appliance, we not only sell appliances but also carry a wide range of parts for most brands. We are the only local selling and servicing dealer in Yolo County. A-1 Appliance was founded in 1961, by, Walter and Joanne Stabler, who set out with a vision of helping people with their appliance needs. By expert knowledge and customer service, to a friendly, comfortable, no pressure selling atmosphere. Now, 57 years later, Walter and Joanne Stabler's son Paul Stabler and wife Carman Stabler, still hold that vision. A-1 Appliance is a real family run business; that is now on its 3rd generation of appliance men.

Stabler's A1 Appliance is AWESOME! I bought my microwave there and they also measured the trim adaption piece I needed and installed it so that it all looked perfect!

Then this week, my washer (which I bought from Sears years ago) had to be replaced and they had a new one delivered asap. My dryer (also bought at Sears) had a problem that Jeff figured out right away, and he fixed it in a jiffy. Jeff is an excellent repairman and does an outstanding job. He really knows his stuff. I wish I had know about Stabler's A1 Appliance when I got the previous washer and the dryer, but will be purchasing new appliances from them from now on and hiring them for any repairs.

I highly recommend Stabler's Appliance for new appliance and repairs. They are simply "The Best". Not only are they a local family business who are honest and very skilled, but they are the nicest folks ever too.

I just purchased a new refrigerator from Stabler's A-1. Staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable! They were willing to work around my schedule to get the refrigerator installed as soon as possible. I enjoy supporting small businesses. I have also had A-1 fix other appliances in my residence, they were very open and honest about the repairs.

I'm baffled by so many reviews that the staff are friendly. Perhaps the "in-person" customer relations are better than what I experienced on the phone. I've called them three times over the last few months - once about a possible repair and then twice about buying a new appliance. The woman who answered the phone was repeatedly rude to me and was incredulous about a disability that complicated my product selection. The owner of the business apparently overheard the conversation and thought it was fine. My feelings were so hurt I nearly cried when I hung up. Truly, I wanted to support a small business with my appliance purchase, but when treated so rudely over a disability, I will take my business elsewhere.

My dishwasher needed a control board and was quoted $500+ by another business to replace it. I had to think long and hard about what I should do. Decided to stop by Stabler's on Kentucky to see what they had to offer as I really wanted to buy locally. No hard sales by Carmen, she was knowledgeable and very pleasant. Decided to purchase a new dishwasher from Stabler's and it will be delivered soon. Highly recommend stopping by their store when purchasing a new appliance. Support local businesses! PS the dogs are cute too.

This company is not in the business of repairing appliances, they just want to sell you a new appliance. They charge $99 to tell you that appliances do not last as long as you expect, 3-5 years vs 7-10 years industry reports, and it's too costly to repair but they don't send you a repair estimate! Instead of focusing on a repair, they claim their appliance prices are same as the big box stores (not true). But no credit for the $99 cost to tell you to buy new instead of repair. Our 5 year old dishwasher was making noise but still cleaning fine and draining, it just needed the impeller replaced. The repairman claimed we'd have to replace the entire motor assembly, but even then never gave us an estimate to decide whether to repair or pay @$700 for a new one.

I rarely review but this has been noteworthy customer service. They take care of their customers in ways that big box stores never will.
Before we were ever customers, they walked us through having a manufacturer stand by their product even after warranty period, and saved more than $1k. It's not about making a sale, it's about serving their customers, and standing by what they sell. They were honest, thorough and supportive, and have earned all my business.

I bought a GE refrigerator here less than 6 months ago and it is krapping out already. It had been near the coldest setting and the temp in the freezer was single digits, the temp in the refrigerator 34 degrees. Then a week ago the 1/2 inch of water I keep radishes in on the bottom shelf of refrigerator was 1/2 inch of ice so I began turning down the dial a little more each day. When I got frozen waffles out of the freezer this morning they were soft and nothing in the freezer is frozen even though I turned the adjustment back to the coldest setting this morning. It is Saturday evening and I will talk to A-1 Appliance on Monday.

Update: Festivus Friday Dec 23..... A-1 called Monday morning in response to my cranky voicemail. The freezer temp was 32 or so, the refrigerator 40. She said a service man would come out Tuesday between 1 and 3 and call before he left the shop. He called and asked a few questions about the reefer. The Temp was 34 or 35 in freezer and 40 in refrigerator. He decided the best thing was to replace my refrigerator with a new one and that it may be a few days before he receives the one on order. Friday night, still no refrigerator. Freezer temp is now 55 degrees F, refrigerator 62. The Gorton's breaded frozen fish I cooked the other day tasted weird so I fed the remainder to the dog. The dog also ate the cod fillet that was in the freezer. The last of thawed waffles were yesterday's breakfast. The sour cream dip may be a little more sour but it has not made me sick when I dip warm carrots in it. The formerly frozen home made soups have been for lunches. Pro tip: thawed, almost warm chicken pot pies do not need to be baked as long as the directions on the box say to bake them.. I'm beginning to wonder if I'll have a working refrigerator before the end of the year. Some items are in a bucket in the detached garage because it's cooler out there than in the freezer.

Tuesday 12/27...... Saturday I went to Best Buy and got a mini Fridge with freezer. Drank the last of the OJ this morning and it wasn't even sour. I added the smoked salmon to my avocado salad for lunch today. Threw away the sour cream, frozen pineapple, frozen berries, radishes, carrots, fresh green beans, pink grapefruits formerly frozen veggies and one half gallon of homegrown, home made apple juice. The other bottle of apple juice has become a smoothie in the mini fridge. Amy's vegan lasagna is all refrozen. Maybe I'll try baking it tomorrow. (It was edible but not appetizing after melting and refreezing) Haven't heard from A-1 if or when they might actually get my full size operating refrigerator. I hope it isn't mixed up with Southwest Airlines' baggage claims.

Wednesday 12/28 Connie called from A-1 to let me know my new replacement refrigerator would be delivered Friday between 2 and 5 PM. They call ahead before driving out here and had the refrigerator set up and cooling by 4 o'clock or so. They asked me if I wanted wire shelves or glass and I got glass although the bad refrigerator had wire shelves. I hope this one lasts a while longer than 6 months. The one I replaced last summer was 28 years old before it failed. My dad had one that was 32 years old when he passed away and it was still operating. When I purchased the one in June they told me that these refrigerators only last about 6 or 7 years. Others have said similar things. Something is wrong here. Cheap Chinese manufacturing maybe? Are the new climate friendly refrigerants so corrosive they eat through the seals and nobody can make seals that last? If I live long enough to see this refrigerator fail I certainly won't buy another GE.

Our "ex" property manager called A1 guy to exam two appliances that were not working at the same time and in that short-single trip the answer we got was " not worth of repairing" and a $200 bill weeks later when we didn't buy from A1.

I couldn't believe how great the service was with this company. They replaced an antique Jenn Air drop in range with a beautiful slide-in Kitchen Aid range for us. They arranged to have the tiles on the counter to be trimmed and did a fair amount of carpentry work for me because my back is bad. I just couldn't believe how easy they made this for us. Unfortunately it's VERY hard to find service like this anymore. I cannot say enough great things about this company!
