Our lasagna is our mother's recipe, we use a chipotle - tomatillo sauce instead of the traditional tomato sauce which makes it very special. Randomly had selected Sun of Wolf for dinner the other evening when we were up on the Peninsula, and very glad we did! This was one of the best and most memorable dining experiences we have had in a long time. We were greeted at the door while we were perusing the menu by a person who we assumed was the hostess. Turns out this was Paulina, one of the sisters who own the place. Her descriptions of the food made it a no brainer to check out the place.

And we were not disappointed. This is not your usual Mexican Restaurant, though we found out they are from a family of restaurateurs that have been running some of the best and long lived Mexican restaurants in the Bay Area. Being the newest generation and having grown up in California, they have created a menu and quality of food that is both upscale/upquality with unique combinations you wouldn't find in other Mexican restaurants. Yet they are grounded in their families home cooking from Puebla, Mexico that they would go back and visit throughout their childhoods.

We know all this info because, it was not busy the night we went (beginning of the rainstorms) and so we got to talk with Paulina quite a bit and meet her two sisters.

Even though the food selection, quality and service was delightful and upscale, the prices were the norm for Peninsula Restaurants.

I had the Pozole Verde soup and the Pasta al Ajillo as the main dish. Pasta sounds unusual for a Mexican Restaurant, but it was delicious as was the soup. Sue had the Quesadillas which were unusual as they were made with blue corn huitlacoche tortillas and crusted with cheese. The Cabbage Slaw that was served as a side was also amazing in itself.

For desert, I got an amazing chocolate tart with oreo crust & blood orange whip. I love chocolate and this was one of the more amazing ways to consume it!

We're not drinkers, but it looked like this would be a great place if you like cocktails and mix drinks. The bar reminded me of the kind of bars we saw in Cabo San Lucas and one of the sisters was in charge of doing the drinks.

Definitely will do our bests to get back up to Palo Alto and have another meal there as soon as we can!

Sun of Wolf is a great place to come by for brunch and lunch. My friends and I were seated outside. Be sure to have some umbrella coverage as it can get pretty warm.

I got to try the breakfast burrito which came with sausage and a mixed of fresh veggies and cheese inside with a side of tortilla chips and fresh salsa. The portion is very filling. Our waiter was very kind in getting us everything we needed, including a secondary umbrella for shade.

Inside is clean and wonderfully decorated. They also had some complimentary matches for customers at the front host desk.

I'll for sure be coming back and hope to try their dinner menu next time!

      It's pretty?

I mean, sometimes you want to pay for the decor. Date night or something. I was just hungry and I'm poor :'(

The Mexican food was good (4 stars), but there's so much good Mexican food in the Bay Area, that I feel places need to be "amazing" to justify the price.

3.5; Try it out for a date night?

Went here on a first date. The location was nice and the outdoor dining was perfect for the weather.

Service was great. The workers were very attentive and kind.

The food was mostly good to ok. Ordered the Empanada and Little Gem for dinner for us to share. Followed by bread pudding for us to share.

The empanadas were great. The Little Gem was good, but the long lettuce leaves were a little awkward to have to cut. The bread pudding was so so. The sauces were great, but the bread was a little undercooked and dry.

Overall I'd give this place 3.5 stars: 4 stars for the food and 3 stars for the service. We came here for weekend brunch and I ordered the Omelette Ahogado. The dish itself was very aesthetically pleasing and very good. The flavors were not too heavy and it was not too salty. I really enjoyed the sauce.

One thing that added much stress to the brunch was that at the beginning, one of the servers knocked over a whole glass of water onto my phone. Afterwards, the staff was more careful but the water did splash onto me from time to time. Understandably it was a very busy and popular brunch spot so I get the service was rushed. On that note though, we did get rushed out quite quickly, so I ended up just packing up the rest of my omelette to eat at home.

I liked the dish I ordered but I'm not sure this is a place I'd go to if I wanted to relax a bit for brunch.

Stopped by for brunch on a Saturday, and Sun of Wolf was decently empty. We ordered the mole tacos (delicious and large portioned), the egg sandwich (tasty with a super toasted bun), and the bananas fosters pancakes. The pancakes were a bit heavy and needed more syrup but otherwise good.

For drinks, we got their hibiscus margarita and blood orange mimosa. Service was friendly and attentive, and food comes out pretty quickly. Pricing was not cheap but what you'd expect in Palo Alto.

We decided on Sun of Wolf for Sunday brunch based on its unique food and drink menu. It is located on Cal Avenue, which was bustling and a fun place to people watch if you sit outside on the shaded patio.

Our server, Carlos, was very warm and attentive. He also gave detailed recommendations.

For drinks, we had the Spicy Tamarindo Margarita, which had a strong kick of spice from the jalapeño infused tequila. We also tried the Year of the Earth Dog (had to based on the name alone!), which had a nice blend of smokiness and tamarind. The Café de la Olla was a slightly sweet coffee with a cinnamon reduction.

For food, we had the Omelette Ahogado and the Cazuela de Chicharrón, both of which were delicious and reasonably priced.

Overall, our experience was very positive, and we would go back if we are in the area again!

great food and great ambience! i love this street because it's closed to cars and packed with restaurants and good vibes. enjoyed all of the food we ordered here (especially the shrimp appetizer!). i wish the steak came with more tortillas, but it was still delicious.

Came here for brunch on a weekend and got promptly seated. Service was so friendly. A super kind woman came up just to ask if I had any questions while I waited on a friend. Our server was also great! I got the cafe de la olla and fried egg sandwich, no bacon. While my friend got the cazuela de chicharrones and Mexican hot chocolate. We both absolutely loved our meals. My coffee was not that strong but really tasty. The fried egg sandwich is made with homemade brioche and was beyond incredible. We also got a single hotcake to share but were both so full from our meals that we ended up taking it home.

The only downside was that we were seated right by the open door so it could a bit chilly and the price point is a bit steep but I would definitely come back as a treat!

Solid Mexican cuisine. Their pozole verde is delicious even though it's a vegetarian dish. Lots of ingredients and very flavorful. I would give it an 8/10. Now if they have a non-vegetarian version and put some chicken or pork in this soup, it would get a solid 10 from me.

Their corn soup (Sopa de Elote) is really solid also. It's more simplistic. Unlike the pozole verde, it's not as hearty with chunks of stuff in it. It appears more bisque-like in consistency but the flavors are on point. It's delicate but very tasty.

Empanadas were good. I've had better but this one still ranks high compared to the many types of empanadas I've tried previously at different restaurants.

Their queso fundido is also quite delicious. This dish is the epitome of a gooey cheese appetizer. It comes out piping hot and is so good with chips.

Crème brûlée was solid, but then I've never had a terrible crème brûlée before. I've had average to stellar ones. This one was good.

Customer service was excellent. Very courteous staff. Environment was comfortable and welcoming. Nice bar. Parking can be found on the street and there are also public parking garages nearby.

      Delicious fusion Mexican food.

Ordered the Chorizo Scramble and the Chilaquiles.

Flavor of food was good, portions were decent sized; pricing is in line with what you get here in Palo Alto!

Chorizo had great flavor and the scramble was delicious; the homemade salsas paired well. Pass on the Chilaquiles; it was kinda like soggy fritos with eggs. Not worth ordering for the future.
