Sokonthy, you are truly amazing, kind and such a caring hair stylist . All thanks to her I am ready to catch my flight and attend my cousins wedding now, not worrying about my hair color anymore . Although my hair took almost 4 hours Sokonthy from the beginning was so attentive not rushing the process at all. The salon setup is soo homey like so much light and she makes u feel free to walk around if you are tired of sitting cz the steps take time if your getting a balayage and enjoy some snacks, candies, coffee or water if you like. I will definitely be going back for touch up when ill need it again in a couple of months. If you are looking for a perfect hair salon this is the one where the artist truly care about the service they provide. Thank you Sokonthy .

Sokonthy and her team are the best! I love how friendly and nice they are. They offer you coffee, tea and snacks while you get your hair done! I come here frequently for hair touch ups, deep conditioning, toning and cuts. The vibe of the salon is modern and clean! I've also gotten a facial with Lana and it was amazing!

I always leave the salon satisfied, I found this salon because Sokonthy was able to squeeze me in for a haircut in the same day. I highly recommend!

I was in DESPERATE need of a color correction. I went to my stylist whom I was loyal to for 15+ years in Sacramento. Normally she does a phenomenon job, but this time she overbooked herself and had me sitting under the heat and over-processed my hair. Every girls nightmare! As you can see from the before photos- I had breakage, uneven bleach/coloring, & unblended streaks! When I got home I was freaking out I was so close to box dying my hair because I had a photoshoot scheduled the following week. THANK GOD I DIDNT.

I found Marcela on Yelp and later followed her on Instagram the same night. I messaged her and she responded within 30 minutes. Luckily for me she had an opening the next day and I immediately booked with her.

And here is what I noticed and how my appointment went:

Parking - There's plenty of parking available.

Salon - Very cute, modern, decorated, and clean with a lot of windows and natural sunlight!

Service - 5/5 stars! She greeted me at the door and was the sweetest person ever! I told her what happened to my hair and what I wanted to do to it. She listened carefully and went over color swatches with me. Marcela was very knowledgeable and took her time explaining the services she will provide before I agreed to proceed. I ended up doing a root shadow, a caramel semi-permanent color over my previous hair color, hair treatment, & face framing hair cut. I am IN LOVE with the results! It came out better than I expected. Thank you so much Marcela you have gained a loyal customer

Going in I had two textured hair and also horrible grow out with my roots. Sophia not only advised on what would be best but also NAILED IT! The pictures speak for themselves and the ambience and service was extremely amazing comfortable she amazing to spend time with. My time flew so fast! Love her! Not over priced or trying to rip me. She truly humble amazing person and years of experience!

Wanted to even out my haircut from a previous stylist who didn't achieve my goal even after providing a photo, so I waited a few months to let my hair grow out a bit and booked Marcela after looking at her photos. She greeted me and proceeded to wash my hair. She gave me a complimentary hair and head spa experience! We chatted the entire appointment. When all was said & done, I couldn't be happier with the result! I loved everything she did to bring life to my hair and happiness in my heart!

Very clean, beautifully decorated, spacious, and warm welcoming environment. There's a few off-street parking in front of the salon, but street parking isn't hard to find either.

Sadly, I will be moving out of the Bay Area in a few months, but I hope I can come back to Marcela for my hair needs in the future.

When my last hairstylist moved out of the area, I was on the search for a new one. After some searching on Yelp, I found myself at Sunshine Salon with Marcela.

The studio itself is beautiful and so clean. I love all the windows to let the natural light in. They have a small parking lot and there's street parking available as well. Worst case scenario, it looks like you might be able to park in the nearby plaza and walk over.

Marcela is amazing! She has a really great way of making people feel so comfortable. I appreciated how she explained everything she was doing, so helpful for a girl like me trying to figure out how to best take care of my hair. She also was never too pushy about purchasing other services or selling me on a service I don't actually need. She kept the conversation flowing and was really easy to talk to. Plus her prices are so reasonable and she's worth every penny!

I've gotten a root touch up, hair cut, and blow dry a few times and have been happy with the results every time. Next time, I'll go for some fun colors too!

Update to Sokonthy's reply: Disappointed by the less than forthcoming and unprofessional response at Sokonthy's salon. Over three visits (last one in 11/11/23) haircut lengths significantly deviated from requests, resulting in unevenness (photo evidence attached). Requested hair color was not achieved twice, despite clear communication. There are other issues but I will not disclose here for fear of tarnishing her reputation & business.

All in all - these issues were overshadowed by the Sokonthy's defensiveness and refusal to provide further service (or provide a refund, at minimum for the tips I added) after expressing concerns. This experience highlights a need for improved attention to customer requests and communication. I will not be going back nor recommending this salon.

It's with disappointment that I write this review for Sokonthy's hair salon, a local business I've been trying to support. Over the course of three visits, I've had a series of unfortunate experiences - from uneven haircuts to incorrect hair color treatments.

On my first visit, Sokonthy gave me a full balayage and haircut. While the color was generally acceptable, I later noticed that my hair was unevenly cut, with one side being 2 inches longer. (See attached pic) I decided to overlook this, attributing it to a one-off mistake.

My second visit was for a root touch up and toning. However, my hair was darkened far beyond what I had requested, returning it to the original color before my first balayage treatment. Again, I decided to give Sokonthy the benefit of the doubt.

The third visit was more problematic. Sokonthy cut my hair shorter than what I had asked for by over 2 inches, and it was still uneven with one side longer by 1.5 inches. When I pointed this out, she became defensive and blamed it on my hair parting. After spending three hours at the salon, bulk of it trying to fix the haircut, I left the salon with a significantly shorter length than requested.

In an effort to maintain a positive relationship with the salon, I refrained from requesting a refund and even tipped Sokonthy to acknowledge the extra time spent on my hair. I suggested scheduling another appointment, but was later told by Sokonthy that she no longer wished to serve me. This was an unexpected and unprofessional response, particularly given my repeated attempts to be understanding and accommodating.

I've attached photos for reference. It's disheartening to have had such an experience with a local business that I was genuinely trying to support. I hope this feedback proves constructive for Sokonthy and her salon in the future.

Marcela is a true talent! I followed her from Level5 Salon. She gave me my second treatment of Keratin and I can't recommend it enough. My styling time is cut in half and at times I don't even need to flat iron.

Results are amazing and so is she! Marcela is an expert colorist and always explains the process to set the right expectations. She's super positive and a joy to see each visit. Thank you Marcela!

Marcela is the absolute best! Always delivers to what I ask for. She leaves my hair beautiful, healthy and vibrant. I came in ready for a change and that is what I got I feel beautiful and more confident of myself. Thank you so much I love my hair the layers are perfect!

My stylist has just joined this saline and they are so lucky to have her! Clare is amazing! I've been a client for around 13 years now and I refuse to Let anyone else touch my hair! She is the best. No one has ever gotten my hair the color and style I like prior to her.

Duygu is a miracle worker, I had grown out my highlights from my old hairdresser, who moved during the pandemic, and my anniversary was coming up, so I needed to get my hair done quickly, but to find another hairstyle, who you trust to do what you want can be hard, but luckily my sister had gone to Duygu, and her hair turned out GREAT, so I took a chance... I'm so glad I did, immediately Duygu knew exactly how to fix my hair, and my haircut (which had also grown out), she showed me a bunch of pictures of toned hair so that she could make the right color for my hair, Duygu was so easy to talk to, and so sweet, and quick, that I will be coming back regularly. Thank you Duygu for making me feel beautiful again!
