Sushi Goemon

The sushi at Sushi Goeman was 5 stars! The hamachi truffle appetizer was melt-in-your-mouth delicious! The 15 piece sashimi was really good too. It came with 5 different types of fish - salmon, yellowtail, kanpachi, halibut, plus we were upgraded to chu toro instead of blue fin tuna. I loved the chu toro, salmon, and yellowtail. The halibut was okay, not my fav, but not bad. The Romantic Roll had blue fin tuna and asparagus, topped with seared toro and truffle ponzu sauce. This was the best roll on the menu! The Salmon Lover Roll was another winner and came with seared salmon both inside and on top of the roll. The roll also had avocado, cucumber, scallions, and bonito. All of the food tasted excellent! They even had real fresh wasabi (although not a lot) plus the paste wasabi.

Service was not bad, but not perfect. Service was a bit slow, unattentive, plus we were never given the miso soup that we ordered. We came during dinner time and luckily, there was no wait for a table. The restaurant looked small from the outside, but the main dining room was all the way at the back of building and it was really dark. What was really obnoxious was that there was another party in the restaurant that was drunk, loud, and rowdy. The staff even turned off the lights once while we were eating. I rated Sushi Goemon 5 stars based on the great sushi I had...not so much for service and ambiance.

Really cute backyard! Great for hanging out with friends or family! We went on a Wednesday night, about 5pm, it was empty.

The sushi roles were really good, I like the goyemon roll more than the rainbow row cause it's more flavorful. The rainbow roll is on the lighter side. Edamame was pretty standard with a kick of spice.

Family owned sushi restaurant that's run by a Japanese family. Prices are fair for San Francisco, they have a seasonal fish selection, and the sushi is good. There's a garden outside with grandparents tending to it, and I'm a sucker for multigenerational families that probably live together.

I got a sashimi omakase and shared it with my companion. We were still feeling hungry afterwards so we ordered two more rolls: the four seasons roll and the salmon citrus roll. My favorite roll was the salmon citrus roll. I liked that their fish offerings included fish in season. Gives the impression that the fish is more fresh than sushi restaurants with a static menu.

I was sad to see that the restaurant was empty on Sunday evening, which is when I went. The restaurant was spacious, which is a rarity in restaurants in San Francisco.

Great sushi, great prices, great service. Lots of parking and no wait on a friday evening! Sushi is fresh and the rolls were super yummy. Cute interior, nice ambiance. I would def come back again!

One of the most delicious sushi's I've had! The ambiance is very nice and romantic. Perfect to come with your partner or family. The service is nice, they checkin on you frequently and make sure you have everything you need. Didn't take too long to bring out the food either! Definitely recommend the crispy roll, ordered it twice!

I've been here 3 times so far and every time I love it. I like the vibes, the food, and the overall experience.

I ordered the Red Dragon, Baked Salmon Roll, Hamachi, Pork Belly Skewer, Chicken Skewer, Bottle of Sake, Large Draft Beer, and Rainbow Roll.

I ate all that myself while I was doing one of my livestreams. Everything came out pretty fast. The pork belly skewers were phenomenal. I really liked the tasty baked salmon roll. So creamy and good. The Hamachi was fresh and tender. The Red Dragon was delish as well.

This is in my top 5 favorite places now for sushi in the city.

Had a reservation, checked in early and still had to wait 50+ minutes to get seated. Food was average. Out of all the things we had, 2 appetizers, a sushi boat for 2, only the appetizer tako wasabi stood out. Otherwise the fish was water-logged and sushi/nigiri tasted like nothing. They water down their soy sauce as well. Looks like everyone around us ordered fancy/sauced up rolls, so maybe that's the way to go. But don't go here for real sushi. They also forgot our soup

Nice sushi spot on Irving, a lot bigger than it looks from the front! Friendly service and good sushi. Came on a Thursday night and we were seated immediately, a couple other tables filled but not too many people.

Enjoyed both the namesake goemon roll and dragon roll. Both were good but the dragon roll was the favorite. Also ordered the hamachi nigiri and salmon Kama. Fish was fresh and servings were a good size.

They were out of a couple things we tried to order when we were there, but that's just an excuse to go back. Prices were pretty reasonable too.

Excellent sushi and cooked items. Greta service and quaint and cozy ambiance. All around...

I and a friend went here in the dead of winter, and it was outstanding -- food, service, ambiance, and value were all very high, truly 5-stars, especially for value. We returned a month ago, and everything was lower, might have been a bad night, but it didn't feel like that. Definitely 3-stars then. Service was slow, forgetful, and out of order, almost dismissive. The dishes were fine, not great, but noticeably smaller portions and lacking the impact of the winter visit. Both of us noted it independently and strongly. The ambiance was pretty much the same but felt less intimate, possibly because of later sunset. It was a little bit depressing; we both thought that we had found something special before, and this time it was almost generic.
