I visited Sushi Hil for a birthday meal.

Located next to Anh and Chi on Main Street, this cozy restaurant features about six tables and a small bar. Reservations are limited to 1.5 hours due to high demand.

Despite its casual name, Sushi Hil serves some of the best sushi in Vancouver.

      We ordered:

      - Sashimi Moriwase
      - Nagasaki Bluefin Tasting
      - New York Tataki
      - Snow Crab Roll

The sashimi was exquisite, smooth, and rich. The Bluefin Tasting was delightful, while the Tataki and Snow Crab Roll were thoughtfully prepared.

Service was attentive and polite, reflecting traditional Japanese hospitality.

      I highly recommend Sushi Hil.

High quality, well-prepared sushi -- it doesn't get any better than this! Absolutely everything here is awesome, even including things that are easily taken for granted like wasabi/miso soup/tea etc.

I've been here twice and tried their nigiri (assorted), bluefin set, chawanmushi, snow crab roll, and oyster motoyaki. I was blown away by everything. Just be prepared to make a reservation in advance and shell up some $$.

Visiting from the States and made a reservation for my last day here. So many words I can say but long story short, this place is a MUST. The fish is extremely fresh, each item is very intentional and well thought out, and every bite is stellar. Plus, great customer service and very clean inside. A new favorite spot in Vancouver for me & would definitely come back!

I was in the area and looking for the highest rated sushi place and sushi hill popped up. However, I must have missed the reviews saying how insanely expensive it is.

This restaurant is definitely not a regular dining spot, but more a high end restaurant for fancy people. All rolls are about $18 each, even basic ones. Nigiri is around $8 a piece. Now don't get me wrong, the flavor and quality is amazing, I was just caught off guard and felt guilty leaving after seeing the menu. The servers here were very kind and informative in regards to recommendations.

A lot of guests were here for the omakase which looked amazing. Everything was made delicately with care, marinated to perfection and plated beautifully. One star lost for me because of the prices being so elevated, but delicious, just more for rich people I guess lol.

A friend came from out of town so we decided to visit Sushi Hil for a unique dining experience. When we were inside the cozy restaurant we were warmly greeted by staff and shown to our seats at the counter of the sushi bar which allowed us to see all action of dishes being assembled all night long.

They don't offer Omakase anymore but it was easy to assemble something similar with all the options on their menu. We started off with the Hotate Butteryaki and ended with the Oshi. The dozen fresh oysters surprised us, their Chirashi Royale was a decadent feast of "all butter" yummy high-quality ingredients. The Sashimi Moriawase was lovely - of note was the jellyfish but it showcased a lot of fresh quality fish.

We were blown away by the Nagasaki Blue Fin Tasting - the quality of the Chutoro was almost the Otoro level and the Otoro of course was angelic. Do not end with the Negitoro at the end of this tasting plate finish it with the Otoro.

This Miso Soup was also awesome - large chunks of tofu and a good amount of seaweed. Solid for a rainy night.

We were the last table to leave but they didn't rush us out - we saw all the hard work they did to keep the sushi bar and the general restaurant clean. A lot of love and pride goes into this restaurant. It was a great experience - thanks Sushi Hil!

Been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time now and was finally able to try it today. It's a nice and small place great for just chatting. Servers were nice.
I enjoyed the majority of the food here. Their ingredients are really fresh and they use "real" wasabi here & deliciously thin ginger (unlimited refills).

The only dish I personally didn't enjoy at all was the Hotate Butteryaki. The butter flavour wasn't pronounced enough and mushroom flavour too strong.

I absolutely recommend their seasonal oysters (kusshi) & their Chirashi Royale (enjoyed every bite). Will come back just for these 2 dishes alone.

A good place to splurge a little.

First off, service is excellent. We made reservations for two and when we arrived, our table wasn't ready yet so the staff was very apologetic and offered us free miso soup upon sitting down after waiting for 15 mins. Sashimi was very fresh and their Nagasaki blue fin tasting did not disappoint. Place is small so make a reservation first, I would not recommend for party larger than 4 otherwise it's crowded. Sake and wine selection was abundant. We ordered their hot house sake and it was good. One thing we regret is ordering the caviar with the oysters because we couldn't really taste the difference due to the amount ponzu/condiments they already added to the fresh oysters. We ordered half dozen with caviar and half without, but both tasted almost identical not worth paying the extra $10 a piece.

Not sure it was worth the price..

We got the royal chirashi which included bluefin tuna, king salmon, Wagyu beef, and foie gras. It came with miso soup and a salad.

The pieces in the chirashi were small and all mixed together. I couldn't really tell what I was eating in any given bite. I would've preferred the rice to be warm with the cold sashimi cuts but it was cold.

It was good but not sure if it's worth 100 bucks pre tax and tip? What do you think??

A small Japanese restaurant with incredibly fresh seafood, located on Main Street. I made a reservation a few weeks in advance for a Friday night seating and the restaurant was packed! I had an amazing time at this restaurant.

*MUST TRY* Nagasaki Bluefin Tasting (5/5) - $48
Taste: By far my favourite dish ordered. I love the variety they served with various cuts of blue fin from akami (lean) to o-toro & chutoro (more fatty). As well as the negitoro which was bluefin sushi delightfully paired with green onion. This spot had amazingly fresh, buttery, melt in your mouth bluefin that seriously sent you to heaven and back!
Portion Size: 8 pieces (2 pieces each)

      Trio Crudo(5/5) - $20
Taste: Thin slices of hamachi, hotate, and kanpachi with a light and refreshing ponzu sauce. Great dish to try for variety. My favourite was the scallop!
Portion Size: Good to share between 2 people (3 pieces each)

Fresh Kusshi Oysters with Uni (5/5) - $16
Taste: Super fresh oysters paired with the creaminess of local bc uni. I can't say no to uni!
      Portion Size: 2 pieces

      King Oshi (4/5) - $20
Taste: King salmon tasted good, however in oshi form it doesn't strike a huge difference to regular salmon. The oshi did not have a super smoky flavour which I typically enjoy.
      Portion Size: 8 pieces

      Super Tuna Roll (4/5) - $20
Taste: A mixture of tuna tataki nigiri and marinated negitoro tuna rolls. The nigiri had a fresh and clean taste, while the roll was flavourful and savoury.
Portion Size: 4 nigiri and 4 piece rolls

      Hiyayakko Tofu (3/5) - $10
Taste: Chilled tofu - a light appetizer with dashi sauce. I wish the sauce was more infused with the tofu instead of primarily sitting at the bottom.
Portion Size: Good to share between 2 people

      [Value for Money]
Definitely a fancier night out for sushi at a higher price point. I would recommend the a la carte menu so that you get to pick and choose the items you know you'd enjoy. For the amount of food ordered between two people, we definitely left full. Overall, with the quality of the fish and the variety we were able to try, it was worth the price... for an occasion!
