Sushi Jiro

Busy place on a Monday evening (albeit a stat holiday) so we thought it must be good. Meant to dine in, but other than Thu/Fri/Sat they only do takeout/delivery. Pickup is at the door but the lady preparing the orders is at an inside counter so kind of have to catch their attention from far away (also means no in-person takeout orders so we had to order online anyway). Insanely long pickup time of 55min and it was already 7:30pm -- kind of unacceptable given they supposedly close at 8. We were only one of many customers waiting outside the door for their takeout order, so my advice to this restaurant is HIRE MORE STAFF PLEASE. Having a single lady prepare 8 orders at a time is CLEARLY NOT WORKING.

As for the food, amazing crispy cauli & agedashi tofu but underwhelming bulgogi oshi (we were really looking forward to it), and the Asian dream salad was not worth the $18 (sashimi was fresh but there isn't much of it).

This was where we landed for early supper after an afternoon wandering in Beacon Hill Park. Nobody else was there yet but we saw some positive reviews online and gave it a go. Not the same as a typical sushi bar, they offer an array of rolls they may have created, some combinations I hadn't seen before. None of them clicked perfectly with my mood, as I'm not a fan of fake crab, cream cheese in sushi, or mayonnaise type sauces. I tried one of their creations, the Beacon Hill, and got one tuna roll with some cucumber, to also have something my palate would be expecting for sushi. Both were beautifully prepared with quality ingredients, but I wasn't thrilled by them - I'd probably try a sashimi or carpaccio bowl next time. The vegetarian rolls they offer where wonderful, however, compare to what's often available for vegetarians to sushi places. Spouse had the Mamma Mia roll and the Crispy Avocado roll, which he especially relished. Sides were standouts, including a very tasty seaweed salad, and a delicious miso soup. The service was very friendly and kind, and it felt like a very welcoming neighborhood business. We'd come back if in the area again!

I am so excited that this is the closest restaurant to my house! I went last night with my husband and found the food to be inventive, fresh and delicious. I especially liked the Spicy Tuna with Crispy Rice as well as the Yuba Inari Spicy Salmon. The service was friendly and attentive. I thought the pricing was reasonable for what we got and the atmosphere was clean and casual. It will definitely be on our regular repertoire of restaurants to visit.

The food is excellent and the quality is too, but I wish that there was a larger sashimi option that didn't break the bank. I do low carb and so sashimi is the only option for me. There are good sushi restaurants in town who provide a sashimi platter that is large enough to be a complete meal, and I would love to see Jiro do the same.

Small and attractive neighborhood space with good service and high quality food. Bit of a Korean-Japanese fusion theme so there were several items I had never encountered before. Many items are dine-in only. I definitely recommend the sticky fried rice dishes. We will be back!

Went to Jiro Sushi yesterday for lunch with two friends. One of the Ladies I was going for lunch with had been there the week before and highly recommended it. We were not disappointed! Lunch was excellent! We ordered multiple dishes and shared them all, which was a great way to try out different items on the menu. We tried the Crispy Cauliflower, Agedashi Tofu, Tuna Tataki, Dynamite Roll, Garden Roll and Bear Mountain Roll. Everything was really delicious and presentation of the food was really beautiful. Wish I had taken a picture to include in my review. Overall we were very pleased with the service, food and location. Look forward to returning in the future and trying out some of the other dishes on the menu.

Incredibly kind staff and delicious food. The garden roll wakame salad are some of my favourites whenever i eat there.
