Tacos El Patron

Great food, excellent service and friendly environment. Like the new indoor rendition. We love their tacos and shrimp quesadillas. A frequent stop for us.

Amazing! My friend and I are big taco fans and we've done a lot of research in Oakland and found some amazing taco trucks there! When I moved to Concord, I decided to give the tacos here a shot.

To sum it up, their tacos are amazing!
Things we got:
Lengua tacos - this was the most tender lengua meat I've ever had
Tripa tacos (tripe) - ok, so my friend and I had a big ol' debate about these because our favorite place in Oakland introduced us to tripa tacos and I've never found anything as good as those. Until now. My friend felt these were a close second to the Oakland version, where-as I thought they were slightly better. Regardless, high compliments.
Beef birria taco was amazing! Absolutely amazing.
Shrimp taco was really good too and so full of shrimp!
Pork belly taco - this one was not great and I would pass on it.

The watermelon agua Fresca was also good. Overall, really nice low key joint, lovely service and amazing food!

Typically when restaurants remodel their food quality goes down. However, El Patron is still one of the best Mexican spots in the Bay. The place is extremely new and modern (as they just renovated) while still having the feeling of a Mexican restaurant. There's lots of seating indoors and the space is very clean. You order at the front then get a number and pick your seat. Once seated, a waiter will bring the food to your table. Service is quick, friendly, and helpful.

* 10/10 recommend! Have to get it.
* The exterior has a crunch and the cheese is nicely melted. There is a great cheese to meat ratio.

If you have never eaten here, please go this week!!! We have lived here for ten years and have never been to this place but have seen that it always looks busy. On Saturday we discovered why. The food is truly amazing. The team is so friendly and helpful. And you leave feeling happy in your heart and in your belly.
I ordered a birria taco with cheese. One is all I needed because it was huge and super delicious. Hubby ordered shrimp tacos that were so full of yummy shrimp that they were falling out! And our daughter ordered kids bean and rice burrito and she was muy contenta! During our meal the service team checked on us appropriately. We had mentioned that Friday was our wedding anniversary so they brought out a beautiful flan.
Flan isn't typically my fav, but much to our delight, it was firm and super delicious!! It may have even converted me! They were friendly and playful - just our style. We left knowing we will be back soon. Thank you!

We've been coming to this place since 2021. A lot has changed for the better and I'm glad to see their business expand. They now have indoor dine-in vs the outside tents from previous times, so definitely much more comfortable. Good quality and serving size are still on par with their amazing reputation. Service was quick and very efficient.

Make sure to try their birria tacos as they're a must try! Extra sauces are available - some avocado cream (mild), salsa verde, salsa roja, and I think the last one might be habanero (extra spicy accdg to friends). 2+ tacos also come with your pick of 2 sides (e.g. radish, cacti/nopales, grilled onions, or frijoles - so take your pick). Lastly, unlimited chips and salsa with your dine-in order!

We also tried their churros with ice cream (as pictured). It came with both caramel and chocolate sauce. 10/10 as well!

Pro-tip: we've deduced that 2 birria tacos are the perfect serving size for an average person. So I almost always order an extra for to-go!

Most of the time, me and my friends just drive here to enjoy the food and serve as a meet up place since we don't live around the area.

If you're still in doubt, just look at all the reviews raving about their food!

Doing a robust business in Take-out, in person dining. These guys are doing it right!

I came in today for some tacos and to check out the new remodel. The new restaurant interior looks absolutely amazing! They bumped out the restaurant to be much larger and the interior is fresh and modern. Not to mention the bathrooms were well stocked, clean, and had a good sized changing table. They were also playing tiny desk concerts for music, which I loved.

Now onto the food. We obviously started out with the bottomless chips and salsa, which were served to us fresh and warm. We decided to order some guac with them as well which was perfectly creamy and delicious. We also got some drinks; my mom got the mango margarita, I got the prickly pear lemonade, and my dad got the agua fresca. All of them were refreshing and super duper fresh with real fruit inside. For entrees, we basically got every taco on the menu and they were all excellent. I have to mention that the staff were all so kind and attentive, and were able to give great insight on everything on the menu. This is definitely one of the best taco spots around and I highly recommend checking this place out!

Have you ever hiked at the Lafayette Reservoir, especially through the Heart Attack Hill? Well, if you did, then you'll know that hiking trail will kick your butt! If you haven't, you ought to try!

After reading some of the reviews, Tacos El Patron makes their own tortillas. And apparently, it's family owned. Once you step foot into the restaurant, you definitely feel the family-like atmosphere.

Service is great, food is great and their margaritas are excellent. Super heavy handed with their tequila pours with very exotic flavors. Each sip, the margaritas tasted stronger and stronger. They don't be playing around and are very generous!

This place is the first spot where I've tried Tripa (beef tripe) tacos. You can get it original or crispy. They prepare this so well because usually, intestines or any organ meat comes with a weird taste if not seasoned well. Tacos El Patron know what they're doing.

Their carne asada are also very well seasoned. I love how they cube the beef rather than thinly dicing them.

If you order 2 or more tacos, you can choose any 2 complimentary sides. (1) Nopales (2) Grilled onions (3) Frijoles (4) Radish

On our last visit, on of my gf brought crickets from Mexico for us to try and she was so generous to offer it to the entire restaurant staff too. They loved it! My girl brought a taste of home to them. After offering more to the owner, I was hoping he would eat it, but he made guacamole and added the crickets and served it to us. Alberto is his name. So nice, funny and kind! It was a back-and-forth giving spirit, a rare family-like meal with strangers.

We already have plans to come back next Monday after our hiking shenanigans.

We truly found a gem, where service meets food and alcohol to create such a harmonious dining experience.

Came here a couple days ago and glad to see that they have remodeled the inside so that people can enjoy their food inside! The inside is now very spacious with lots of seating and even has a bar as well. Restrooms are located in the corner of the restaurant and is pretty clean. Now onto the food!

My friends and I were seated right away and were given complimentary chips and salsa. We all ordered the famed Birria Tacos ($5.50 each) with cheese added ($1.00 extra for each taco). An order of Birria Tacos come with consomme to dip the tacos in, limes, and your choice of 2 sides (either cactus, grilled onions, or radishes). These birria tacos were so good that it had me dancing while eating! They give hellaaaa meat, the shells are super crispy, and the consomme tastes full of flavor. Other places conserve the amount of meat they give, shells are soggy, and the consomme is salty so it's safe to say that Tacos El Patron definitely have the best birria tacos!

I've been going to Tacos El Patron since 2019-2020 for their AMAZING birria tacos. I went recently and was pleasantly surprised by the remodel. I am so happy to see them continuing to thrive!

First things first, as always, their birria tacos are bomb! I still have not had any other birria taco that has been able to top the ones at Tacos El Patron. Not to mention, they do not skimp on their portions! The Taco Patron and the additional tacos we had (my partner's share LOL) were also delicious. I recommend it all as they were great in taste and quality. I can't wait to try more next time.

I love coming to Tacos El Patron, and with the new interior, it's a great spot for many occasions. Service was also a 10/10 as staff was attentive, nice, and humorous. Tacos El Patron is definitely high on my list for one of my favorite taco spots in the Bay!
