Take A Load Off Moving

Don't ever us this company on a long weekend! Their regular people call in sick and they scramble to find any warm body they can.
Doesn't matter if they are experienced or brand new to moving, the replacements are the worst movers I've ever experienced. I've had numerous moves for over 50 years. The company appeared to be competent and well organized professionals but moving day was the worst ever. The "manager" threw the bosses plan out the window and did as he pleased. Many antiques were damaged. It took them 12 hours to load drive 5 minutes and unload. I could go on but I'd like to forget this experience. Just don't hire them on a long weekend.

The guys showed up on time and got my small job -- moving furniture around in my house -- done quickly and courteously. I can't vouch for them for a big move, but they certainly did a good job for me.

My review is 100% accurate and the truth. Moving day, Dec. 30th,/22  the guys were supposed to be at my apartment at 11:00am, they walked into my apartment at 8:00am. I said to them, what the frack are you guys doing here, the appointment was for 11:00, look at my sheet they said I have 8:00am, Your time is wrong. I lived on the second floor, 10 feet from the movers elevator. I had moved everything from my apartment to the movers elevator, except for 15 boxes, which I was going to move to the elevator, before the guys showed up 3 hrs ahead of schedule.
I had the elevator booked at my new apartment in Campbell River between 3- 4 pm. So these moving guys were taking their time to load the truck. It took them 2 1/2hrs to load, they could have loaded in 1 1/2 hrs.
So 1 1/2 hrs @ $120,00 = $180.00 To unload it took longer because the distance from the truck to the elevator and from the elevator to my apartment it took them 3 1/2 hrs. So total hrs to load and unload took 5 hrs @ $120.00 = $600.00, final bill 7.25 hrs @ $120 =$870.00 = $270.00 difference.
So this one is even better. Travel time from Nanaimo to Campbell River is 1 1/2 hrs, return travel travel time is 1 1/2 hrs for a total of 3 hrs  So 3 hrs @ $120.00 = $360.00, final bill 4.75hrs @ $120.00 =$570 difference $210.00.
Adding hrs beyond the actual hrs on a final bill is called padding, this is fraud, and is a sign of GREED. If they do this to every customer, it adds up.
The mover who prepared the final bill, I got into an argument with him regarding the cost. I paid the bill and said to myself, I will recover what is owed to me. Total cost for a one bedroom move was $1,702.00, way too much.
If you, family or friends have retained this moving company in the past two years, check your final bill. You have up to two years to file a claim in small claims court.
I emailed them a week ago, asking for  credit of $390.00. No response.
Their response to my review may not be the truth.
P.S  Skyler, one of the movers asked me at my old address, "is this your paint poll" I replied yes. It was brand new. Well it is not at my new address. Even their employee's steal from you.
Before the movers left my old address, I gave them $20.00 each to buy lunch, go figure !!

AMAZING! Right from the initial phone call for a quote and information about a move, to the moving day, my experience with Take A Load Off Moving was fantastic. Rebecca was so helpful and so efficient, explaining everything in detail. I was able to get all of my questions answered and a day set up for my move within 10 minutes of my call. I had a very challenging situation with an apartment I had in Nanaimo. Making things worse, I don't live in or near Nanaimo! Needed to have a difficult tenant moved quickly. I reached out the day before and these folks had a crew there the next morning. Mission accomplished and for what I felt was a reasonable price.

Perfect moving team of Brian and Joseph to help me rearrange furniture in my home and boxes in my garage!! They both were respectful, efficient and moved quickly, but carefully, to get the job done. They both were very professional, and I am very happy with working with this business.

So who out there likes to move? No, I didn't think so. The stress of packing, changing contact info, cleaning etc. etc. Just to make it that much more interesting, there was a monsoon the day of the move. Not just rain that makes you consider moving to higher ground, but wind that was knocking out the power.
Along comes two young gentlemen from Take A Load Off Moving. You sort of brace yourself for the worst but boy was I wrong. These two fellows got to work right away and had me out of the old place in an hour less than I had estimated. They worked their tails off. They were both polite, well spoken and professional. What? Movers? Yes! Through all this horrible weather they never complained or stopped. It was the same at our destination. I highly recommend Take A Load Off Moving and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

We moved from Vancouver to Nanaimo and brought in TaLOM to help us on the unloading on arrival. The guys where very friendly, hard working and diligent with our belongings. Also want to call out the excellent customer service from Karen in getting us org sized prior to our move and accommodating schedules with the ferries. Highly recommended and will use them again!

We were very satisfied with how TALO handled our recent move. They were easy to book with. On the day of our move 4 friendly guys showed up on time and got right to work. They were careful with all our belongings but got the job done quickly. I would not hesitate to use them again.
