This is the second time I have used Tech 2U and once again I am delighted with their work. They give you a price for the job and that is it regardless of the time they spend completing the job. The 1st time I used them was for a glitch of some sort in a game I play and a couple of other program issues. The Technician worked on my PC remotely and I was exceedingly pleased with his work.
This time I decided to replace the current 7,200 rpm 2 TB hard drive with a Samsung 2 TB SSD Drive, which I had purchased via Amazon, and to have them install it and transfer all the information over to the new drive. While working on my gaming PC at our house the technician noticed the noise my computer had been making for some time. He was able to track it to 2 things; One was my liquid cooling system was very loud and the 6 case fans were very noisy. I decided to have them get a new cooling system and fans and replace all of them with new ones. We decided the case and computer should be taken into their shop in Henderson.
They keep me informed as to their progress in getting the parts needed and then their installation. They also cloned my old 7,200 rpm drive onto the new drive as well as cloned a 240 GB SSD drive that my opening programs were on. They cloned it to the new 2TB SSD Drive which became my new "C" Drive and the 240 GB SSD drive became Drive " while the old 7200 rpm became my new "D" Drive and the 256 GB SSD became my new "E" Drive. Both the "D" and "E" Drives were wiped clean.
The Technician brought the computer back, hooked it all up, and showed me all they had done and installed. He checked to ensure all was working properly. I was delighted at the quality of their work, attention to me as a customer, and both their installation work and their program work and would recommend them without any reservation to anyone looking for this type of service. They quickly responded to our home and even recalled having worked for me before. They have marked vehicles and their technician dressed professionally and was very informative as to all he was doing.

TL:DR - Thank you Kevin for making it right. Thanks Mike for doing what was right.
I'm the tech person overseeing over 150 computers & 40 laptops. We have 5 HP laptop 17-BY4067ST, all very basic laptops for some remote employees.
I called the phone number listed on yelp talked to a Kevin over the phone. Explained the HP is very basic, I changed the RAM outmyself on the employee's that live locally around me, but we have one that lives far up north and I found Tech 2U on yelp. Can you give me a quote and a ETA when you can get this done? I was quoted $49.99 for over the counter ram change and they would make sure the laptop boots and confirm in the task manager that the new ram is correct.
PERFECT (Or so I thought) My employee went there today and met with Mike who quoted $600+ (for labor, new hard drive, new antivirus, ect...) in repairs needed (Keep in mind the laptop was a black Friday sale for only $499.99 from Staples). I told him that's I could buy a new laptop for that price and he brushed me off saying that's my choice.
I called back the original phone # I called and spoke to Kevin again luckily, he remembered our conversation, spoke to Mike and we all agreed that $49.99 was the fair price for the ram upgrade nothing else would be needed at this time.
Me and Mike had a conversation and I understand that business need to upsell to make al living, and I understand that he ran some benchmarks and that he recommended preventative maintenance could help in the long run, but I cannot believe that you would recommend repairs that are worth more than the laptop +$100.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Carlos M.San Francisco, CA04Jun 23, 2024
Requested service on Friday morning for an issue with outlook emails are being directed to my trash folder in Outlook for some odd reason after charging me close to $300 as of today Sunday they basically said my hour is up and they have no clue what the problem is and if i wanted to add another hour of service at $185 i believe with no guarantees of fixing my problem.
Seemed very excessive so im out $300 basically.
This was my personal experience not satisfied at all .Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

My technician let me know immediately that you were unsatisfied, and we would have reached out to you regardless, but I thank you for your feedback.
With problems as obscure as this one, we do often charge an hourly rate, and it’s true we didn’t have a solution for the problem at the end of the first hour as it required additional research.
While you agreed to the terms of hourly billing before we began and also declined to have us continue, I understand that it can be frustrating to spend money without getting the results you wanted.
This is why I called you on the Monday following the service to discuss possible refunds, but that call disconnected. I prefer to think this was an accident because you were at the gym – and that you did not hang up on me – but I called immediately afterwards and haven’t heard back in the following weeks.
We would still like to make this right for you. When you have the time, please call us at 916-225-8324 and ask for Jeff. - Laura K.Rancho Cordova, CA2142Jun 3, 2024
Fast response excellent service, and great advice. I even had to make a second call to remember the information they had given me and they were so nice and so patient as I wrote down all of the items I needed to address.

This review is for Best Buy's Geek Squad on Arden Way. After my pc was hacked and stripped clean I had trouble getting back online. After several days of frustration, Darius was able to get everything working perfectly within a few minutes. Thanks so much!

I gave my laptop for diagnostics and repair cost estimate. The price for repair was equal to the cost of a new laptop! I refused and contacted another repair company, where everything was repaired in half a day and for five times cheaper (it turned out that it was only necessary to replace the 16 GB RAM board which costs 30 dollars!). Also, I found that after diagnostics, my hard drive was pristine clean!, despite the fact that I warned that I do not have a backup copy of the data.

Josh with Tech2U came out to my house to look at my Computer. He was very professional and knowledgeable but unfortunately he had to restore my Computer back to it's original state due to a bad software update. I would most certainly use them again.

(8/3) Update Response to Business Owner:
Since the owner feels the need to dispute an *experience* for which he was initially not present and did not directly interact with my husband for the in-person interaction, so he can save face for the reputation of his store and poor customer service, I will respond to his claims, because there's no point of receiving security footage and recorded phone calls when most of the initial interaction took place at the store for the original discussion regarding the estimate, and the business owner was not present and did not communicate all these extra details he claimed in his response until after we rejected services. The technician that handled the original interaction was more vague and did not thoroughly communicate the information that the business owner is sharing with us after the experience. I could write an entire essay if I did not exceed character limits for my reviews. The core issue was the pricing and disagreement with how our PC was handled, but now our issue has additionally redirected to the business's unprofessionalism in how they interact with their customers after business had already been concluded.
The business owner *could* have responded professionally or simply agree to disagree.
Instead, the business owner would rather gaslight his customers and make exaggerated claims based on information they would like to cherrypick (if I could have recorded the phone conversation to display their rude interaction and accusations, I totally would have).
~"We didn't make any changes to his software": but the business went through the software simply because they required access, which could have affected the software system with whatever diagnoses or tampering during the process, instead of ONLY assessing the hardware.
~As I had originally stated, "They tried to convince him that he needed a new power supply and that he had a virus and recommended one of their pricier 1 year anti-virus subscriptions which, if he followed through with what they intended for his PC, would have cost $300, when PC power supply units average about $100-$200 on the cheaper end" | The business owner responded with, "The anti-virus software we recommend isn't $300," which is not the core issue, as the $300 is totaling the PC power supply unit, on top of their subscription, and on top of labor and their claims lack substance when they cannot provide a detailed breakdown of their costs, so he is completely ignoring the fact that PC power supply units can cost $100 on the cheaper end and depending on the age of that power supply, it could have possibly been RMA'd for a new one as power supplies have long warranties compared to other parts, instead of completely replacing it.
~Owner can only claim, "We didn't brush him off when his computer wasn't starting up" but neither did they mention that they reset his boot settings, which impacted the ability for the unit to start up how it had normally would, and failed to communicate this information with him at the time of pick-up for his unit and when he called anxiously, no one helped him beside inform him that his technician was out and who didn't call him back for an entire 6 hours just to tell him that he needs to replace his power supply unit for his PC to start (it didn't work even though he replaced it within that timeframe and had already attempted to do so before the tech contacted him) and to press F11 (which his friend already suggested and worked).
~"I've listened to all the recorded calls and watched all the security camera footage, so I know this customer is either confused or lying." You can state that you have listened to them, and naturally, as a business owner, you will want to defend your business's reputation, but as the owner was not the technician that assisted my husband, he has left out much of the information that the technician did not inform us or specify details and it's a baseless accusation that we are confused or lying when he cannot provide substantial evidence of "lying," as there is no benefit for us to share a lengthy false experience when we have never interacted with this business or its staff until this incident.
~If it's a "fire hazard"&"unethical to ignore a problem that endangers a customer," the business could have refused to assess our PC and the tech should have mentioned what the business owner stated, so we could have refused the estimate. It would also have been ethical to mention this information initially and receive our consent for tampering with parts of the unit that we did not consent to, but let's ignore it. We wanted the cleaning and a confirmation that the power supply is most likely the issue so that after the cleaning, we could look into buying the part and look into repairs ourselves for a lesser cost, but the business deciding what was best for us without our consent is an insult to our decisions as customers.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I did contact this customer after reading the original review – not because I believed his wife was crazy – but because its contents are not true. The customer didn’t say he wanted a cleaning and nothing else. He didn’t object to us performing a check-up on his software. We didn’t make any changes to his software. The anti-virus software we recommend isn’t $300. We didn’t brush him off when his computer wasn’t starting up.
I’ve listened to all the recorded calls and watched all the security camera footage, so I know this customer is either confused or lying. I offered to send him these recordings in the hope we could understand each other, but he declined.
Just cleaning this computer wouldn’t have solved the problem. The power supply was failing and could have become a fire hazard. It would be unethical to charge for services a customer doesn’t need, and it would be unethical to ignore a problem that endangers a customer. That’s not what we do here at Tech 2U.Aug 2, 2023Previous review(8/2) Update after being contacted by this location with borderline hostility for utilizing my freedom of speech to post an ingenuous review as a new, potential customer:
[TLDR: Poor Customer Service, Unfair Prices, and Lack of Respect and Consent for Customers' Decisions of their Own Possessions] | Sharing on Multiple Platforms to Increase Visibility
My husband was contacted by a male at this location and was outright told that "your wife is crazy and she doesn't know what she is talking about" concerning my review, already implying hints of sexism. This already rubbed him the wrong way, but as he wanted to give this location the benefit of the doubt, he was willing to hear out the business's concerns about our first-time experience. Unfortunately, long story short, the representative (if not the owner themselves), spoke to him in a rude and haughty manner, to basically tell us that we were wrong and try to convince us to change our negative review on Google. This means that, despite us rejecting their services, they went out of their way to pull up our personal information to COMPLAIN to us regarding our EXPERIENCE.
Here is some of the business's claims:
~1~We did not request a cleaning and stated that we heard sizzling noises and wanted our PC power supply to be looked at/worked on because that is the issue, which is apparently a fire hazard to them so that's why they did not clean it and addressed other concerns, but failed to inform us from the start
*CORRECTION: We DID request only a cleaning and did not consent to our software being tampered with but per their policy, we must provide access information (yet, they still asked us why we provided them access information). We heard sizzling noises, but we assumed that it was PROBABLY our PC power supply
~2~They asked us that if we knew what the problem was (^based on their above claims), why did we go to them
*WE ARE NOT PROFESSIONALS and we assumed that they WERE. But after this customer service experience and being aware of their Release of Liability, we are unable to further trust that they will address our concerns, but instead, do what they think is best for us at overcharged rates and potentially further damage it at no risk to them.
~3~They charge what they charge because of all the costs/factors for repairs (i.e.labor,parts,etc.)
*And yet, other stores sell the parts for reasonable prices? Opinion but $200 labor is insane. Please research/compare your own prices instead of blindly trusting the business that is overcharging you
Original (7/31): THIS PLACE IS A SCAM; DO NOT COME HERE BECAUSE THEY WILL TRY TO OVERCHARGE YOU. I have to agree with one of the recent reviews by Jess Franton. No idea who they are, but it's skeptical how there is so many brief positive reviews so I wanted to deep dive customers that were taken for fools, and search for a recent negative review.
My husband and I had a similar experience. He took his gaming PC to this location a few days ago to have it specifically cleaned. And when I mean specifically, that's ALL he wanted done, was a thorough cleaning and have nothing else messed with. They told him to come back in 4 days or so, since that is the soonest they could get it done. Seems like such a simple task for it to take so long, but he figured since this place had positive reviews, it's understandable that they could be busy so he tried to be patient and just hope that they didn't mess with anything else.
4 days or so later, he came back for his PC and they didn't even do what he asked. They did everything he DIDN'T ask, which was mess with the software. They tried to convince him that he needed a new power supply and that he had a virus and recommended one of their pricier 1 year anti-virus subscriptions which, if he followed through with what they intended for his PC, would have cost $300, when PC power supply units average about $100-$200 on the cheaper end. He refused to have them work on it, especially since they didn't even clean it like he asked.
He took it home and his PC wouldn't even start up and when he called them back about it, they pretty much brushed him off.
He ended up calling a friend for tech advice to help him be able to start it up. They bought a PC power supply unit and he installed it himself, and it's in good working condition now.
Asking this place for help was super inconvenient and it's extremely offensive to me that they thought they could just scam us out of $300 when only a simple cleaning was needed.
If you actually think you're getting a good deal from this place, the staff takes you for an idiot because you don't know computers. Just because you have money to spend, doesn't mean you deserve to be swindled and taken advantage of when you're probably uninformed and simply seeking help for your technology.
Please do your research and look elsewhere for assistance because this place will either waste your time or take advantage of whatever money you have to offer.
