A place I've seen plenty of times when I was riding the 99 bus, I never really thought about trying it out. More recently a friend suggested it and I decided to give it a try. It was a Saturday night around 6, and my friend was told it was a 30 minute wait for a table for 2. There was quite a few people waiting, and there was a pretty constant stream of people throughout the evening.
We were seated at the sushi bar, which I actually enjoy. I like to watch them make the sushi and had the chance to see them sear the aburi sushi with a blow torch. My friend and I both ordered the deluxe sushi, which came with 10 pieces of nigiri and a tuna/salmon maki for $26. I think that was a pretty reasonable price. They do give you a daily sheet menu that shows which fish are available. I decided to get an aburi king salmon, aburi salmon belly, and aburi madai nigiri as well. These were all so good. They were seared just right, and had a melt in your mouth texture. It wasn't too oily and was flavourful. The aburi nigiri is definitely something to try here. As for the deluxe sushi, I enjoyed all of them except for one. It had a fishier taste and the texture was a lot smoother and different than what I was expecting. Other than that, the fish were fresh and good quality. I can see why this place gets busy.
Overall, the sushi was really good. Some items may be a bit pricier, but the quality is there. Service started off not so great because it was hard to get someone to take our order, even after talking to 2 servers. But once we got our order in, they were attentive. They came around to refill our tea and asked how everything was. I definitely recommend trying out this place, but be prepared to wait during dinner time.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Ryan W.Newcastle, WAMar 5, 2024
Been to Temaki many times when visiting Vancouver. The aburi sockeye and blue fin o-toro are delicious. We ended up ordering it twice.

decent casual sushi place. Very extensive menu. Price was reasonable, not cheap by any means, not crazy expensive either.
Food was pretty solid 4/5. We ordered:
daily sashimi - 15pcs of changing selection of premium fish - good
deluxe tempura - had some tempura fish as well in addition to the usual veg and shrimp - good
special oshi sushi set - pressed sushi, flame seared - on the current specials menu. this was good, although some pcs had way too much sauce. Overall still a solid 4/5.
dinner sashimi box - comes with teriyaki beef (too salty), tempura, rice, green salad, spicy tuna roll, tuna/salmon sashimi, miso soup. solid 4/5 again.
tako sunomono - a large bowl of sunomono with a few slices of octopus. Too little octopus but what was served was good.
mentaiko udon + seafood for $5 extra - ok, bit overcooked and mushy with too much sauce. The cream was overpowering. 3/5.
Presentation all good. Service was ok.
Parking on the street in the surrounding neighborhood, can be annoying to find depending on when you go. All the construction on Broadway out front makes it even harder. to navigate.
Reservations are easy on opentable online.
Overall, solid 4/5 casual japanese place all around.
I would come back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 28, 2023
Wow I love this place! Really fresh seafood and prices are reasonable. We made a reservation for 10 people and they were super accommodating. The server even split out bills individually. Will definitely be coming back for more.

Grabbed take out for our NYE family dinner and since the party tray had all of the rolls that we like, we decided to choose that along with a few hot dishes.
Maki Tray - this came with all of the expected rolls including chopped scallop, california, dynamite, salmon, tuna, kappa, unagi, house, alaska, spicy tuna, futomaki and bc roll. We swapped out the bc roll for a negitoro (+1) as they allow ONE roll substitution and it was a great decision as the negitoro was delicious! The tray itself had good sushi rolls but there was nothing that stood out and the price was quite high.
Tako Karaage - fried little octopuses, delicious seasoning and a light sauce. Small portion for the price though...
Chicken Karaage - I didnt feel like this had too much flavour but it came with spicy mayo to dip in. Liked how the chunks of meat were large.
Oyster Motoyaki - Wasnt too heavy even with the white sauce and had a small piece of oyster in each one.
Overall, the food here is good but the prices are very high with nothing that really stood out. The rolls were nicely made though and fish was fresh. Perhaps the nigiris are a bit more memorable?Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Apr 13, 2019Previous reviewCame here for my birthday dinner and yes while it may be chinese run, the sushi chefs are Japanese and the quality of fish is superb. We ordered a plethora of cooked and raw dishes including the soft shell crab, chicken karate and snapper tempura. All were covered in a feather light batter and tasted delicious (especially the tempura). We also got an oyster motoyaki and it was not soaked in mayo sauce or oil making it light and tasty with lots of spinach below as well. We also got a nabeyaki udon for some variety and it came with a lot of toppings! Beef, chicken, egg and prawn tempura, this noodle bowl was no short of savour broth and toothsome udon as well.
For rolls, we got the roll combo (scallop, spicy tuna and dynamite) where we felt the dynamite was nothing special and a little heavy on the rice. The sushi rice itself was well flavoured on all three rolls though. The double tuna roll was a table favourite with tasty negitoro and fresh tuna with avocado and a spicy sauce. The chefs roll contained delicious, sweet mango and with the addition of tempura bits, was a great bite! Lastly, we got their sashimi platter with 30 pieces of sashimi served on a beautiful wooden bucket of ice. The slices of fish were all tasty and fresh but the standouts were the sea bream, ika and the scallop.
Overall, the reason for 4 stars is that the place is quite expensive. It is very busy but luckily we made a reservation and the food didn't take TOO long to come. The fish is delicious and their hot dishes are cooked well too! - Conrad Y.Vancouver, Canada1116320Aug 26, 2023
Hadn't been since the pandemic roof fell in and am Happy to say the place is better than ever-I'm a neighbourhood resident and used to work just a block away so I know.
It's always been a friendly welcoming place and that hasn't changed-I arrived puffing & panting from doing the Arbutus bikeway so I didn't order much but what I had was delicious.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Amogha R.Metro Vancouver, Canada61862Aug 17, 2023
This is my go-to place to grab lunch whenever I am in the area and I must say Temaki Sushi never fails to disappoint.
Considering the noise and hullabaloo of the construction in the area, the welcoming and warm ambiance of Temaki offers a quite respire to clear one's headspace and enjoy one's meal in relative peace.
The service is prompt even with the rush of diners and they are pretty quick to get you whatever you need. I have always dined alone here but have seen families, couples all around so it's a place for everyone and there's no preference for one set of people over the other which I appreciate.
About the food, I have mainly had different sushi rolls and have liked everything that I have tried. The last time I was in here, I had a scoop of their coconut Mango icecream which was *Chefs kiss*.
Highly recommend!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 2, 2023
Tasty spot for sushi! Prompt service and food was quick to come out. Enjoyed the nigiri sushi, the fresh crab California roll and chef's roll. Food tastes fresh.

This was astonishingly good. We lack this experience in Edmonton.
We ordered the chefs combo. I'm partial to the salmon.
We each had a salad. Seaweed and spinach.
The tempura veg was delicious.
Finally, we each had a bowl of Udon noodles. Chicken and beef. Couldn't finish it all. We were so full.
It's pretty packed in there, so you gotta reserve.
Excellent food and service.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Gg T.Central, Vancouver, Canada027Jun 3, 2024
We have been here 5 times. Every time it gets worse. The staff are unfriendly and never smile. The food is served quickly but that is not necessarily a good thing. They put so much oil into their salmon teriyaki I felt sick after a few bites. On top of that it was drowning in gelatinous, lukewarm teriyaki. Yuk!! This meal was disgusting slop. Never again!

Amazing sushi! You can literally taste every single grain of rice! Chef Hilary was absolutely amazing with accommodating for my boyfriend's birthday dinner. We had the omakase and it was just unforgettable!
Everything the chef brought out to us was just a wow factor. The fois gros nigiri was my ultimate favorite! As well as the variety of oysters they had!
This is now my go to place and forever will be. I loved vibe in the restaurant, it was super cozy and the decor was very nice.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
