South Shore Center Tesla charging station

      523 S Shore Center W
      Alameda, CA 94501
      United States

There are 12 super chargers located in the Shore Center parking lot. This is an open air charging station you do not have to pay a fee to park.

      Pros :
      12 superchargers
      Free parking
      Safe lot
Lots of lighting night charging feel safe
      Fast charging
      Lot security guards
      Busy location, not isolated
Convenient food, options while waiting (five guys chipotle Panera are the closest)
Convenient grocery shopping while waiting (Safeway and Trader Joe's)
      near Walgreens
      Starbucks and Jamba Juice!
Extremely close to Ulta great for you. Bad for your wallet.

      cons:
Charging spaces are at back of lot, a not convenient walk for people with disability who might be charging.

Could definitely use more charging stations in the vicinity.

      Pro tip:
Restrooms available in Chipotle, Ulta, Safeway, Old Navy, and Panera.

Overall, 10/10 would recommend this location although it is only 12 stalls it is by far the best safest, East Bay supercharge, charging station in the Oakland Alameda area.

Pretty new with this Tesla vibe but this charge station is definitely a good one. It's never busy it's very safe it's in the parking lot of a shopping mall. That's monitored 20 47 Great Pl. to charge up lock the doors and go across the street to the beach.

      Waiting for a full charge

We stopped here on the way to SF just to make sure we would have enough charge for our weekend there. I'm not sure about charging in the city and we were going to park the car for most of our visit. This supercharger had a few open stalls and speeds were decent. We grabbed some last minute jackets and sweatshirts at Old Navy and used the restrooms there. If you want a healthy snack they have a Trader Joe's in this shopping complex.

Finally a Tesla charging station within reach in the east bay!! It's about damn time!!! It has been tiring driving ~20 miles to either Concord or Pleasanton to charge and by the time I get back home hella juice is already gone from the drive!!

They have 12 stations here, located near the Walgreens. Good amount of chargers, but I do forecast it getting quite busy. Of course, at 9:30pm it's pretty empty, but as I was mapping it from Sacramento at 7pm, it was already packed.

Great move on Tesla and happiness for drivers on this side of town, however, may suck for non Tesla drivers on the weekends since 12 less parking spots available especially during the days they have the food trucks taking up all the parking ... oh well...

This Supercharger opened December 16, 2018. There are 12 stalls in the Southshore Shopping Center on the side of Party City, Chipotle Mexican Grill and Ulta.

Although only 12 stalls, this location instantly gets 5 stars because of its...location! No more having to calculate miles and estimate Bay Area trips based on the Dublin and San Mateo Supercharger locations. Alameda is our 2nd home which gives us ample time to charge up prior to family and friends gatherings. I can fill her up and have less stress getting home 50 mile away.

Southshore has Trader Joe's, Starbucks, Five Guys, Panera...a bunch of retailers Tesla owners can visit for the hour they are supercharging. I'm sure this will get busy with only 12 stalls, but...we'll take it!

      5 stars!

Great place to stop and charge if you are in this area. It's still 30 mins outside of the San Francisco and you do have to drive through Alameda with a bunch of stop and go lights.

It has a bunch of store for shopping clothes and groceries to include a Safeway, a Trader Joe's, Walgreens, CVS, a Bed, Bath & Beyond with a bunch of restaurants to choose from all very close to the charging stations.

We went at night and there was plenty of lighting around so it felt very safe.

This supercharger was listed as 150kW max but there are only 11 stalls (+1 for handicap) and they're usually full given the plethora of shopping around here (including off the grid food trucks usually on Saturdays 11-3pm). So you'll rarely achieve 150kW but still faster than the 75kW max locations. Add to that the difficulties getting to this location (many lanes take a while due to the high number of left turns and pedestrians). Posted signs say 30 min limit for parking (and therefore charging) but this isn't enforced and there is no system for waiting when all the stalls are full. If you're going to be in the area for other reasons, it may work well; otherwise, another supercharger location may be a better idea.

I understand why Tesla would put the superchargers at a shopping mall, but this one is really out of the way. In addition, people plug in and then go shopping and don't come back to move the car after it's charged. These are not parking spaces people! How about putting some superchargers in Oakland which has a much larger population than Alameda.

This is like offering free gas and reserved parking in the mall, but only for people who own a late model Mercedes. Are there really 12 people charging Teslas while simultaneously shopping in the mall at most times during the day? What about the four or five at 1 AM? Also, of all the places to locate a supercharger in the East Bay, why Alameda? It's out of the way, and does not need any additional traffic. West Oakland would have been a much more reasonable location...
