MANHATTAN/Battery Park: The Battery is in the lowest part of Manhattan and features 26 acres of public park land! Plants, gardens, views of the Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn, NJ, 3 dog parks, and there is even more to see and do. Leashed and friendly dogs are welcome on the hard surfaces and it is a nice spot to walk around and take in the incredible design of the area. The dog parks allows dogs off-leash. We love the mix of urban concrete with the softness of nature. The Battery's website offers visitor guides to help you get a full experience including what is currently in bloom, walk-through histories, and flora and fauna information!

One of my favorite things about New York City are its parks. The Battery is located at the southern tip of Manhattan and has beautiful views of the New York Harbor and the Hudson River. Whenever I take one of the Statue of Liberty cruises, I like to walk through The Battery afterwards. There is a lot of history at this park going back centuries. Castle Clinton, the SeaGlass Carousel and the Battery Bosque garden are some of the attractions that are here. There are also over 20 monuments on "Monument Walk". This includes the World War II war memorial that has thousands of names engraved on granite pylons. The Staten Island Ferry terminal is walking distance away from The Battery.

The Battery is named for the artillery batteries that were built in the late 17th century. After the Revolutionary War, the Battery became a public promenade for walking. It has gone through many changes and improvements over the years. I remember The Battery being a safe haven for those fleeing lower Manhattan during 9/11. I personally enjoy walking through the garden and sitting on the benches while watching the boats in the harbor. Even through it looks small, you can see the Statue of Liberty from here.

Walking through Batter Park today brought me back to my much younger years. I worked nearby and had to walk my Boss's dog here daily! Urgh! I don't miss that job, whatsoever, but I did miss the park.

Beautiful views, lots of space to take in the sights and not usually too crowded.

If someone were visiting from another State or country, I would definitely suggest coming here for the sights and views. Unfortunately, there seemed to be a lot of construction and renovations taking place in the park, but still worth coming by!

Nice park to walk through from the charging bull area on the way to the Staten Island Ferry terminal back in March.

Bathrooms available to use and nice statues in the park to admire.
Can see the Statue of Liberty way in the distance.

What a cute little beautiful place to sit & relax . Enjoy my coffee & write . Water always calms me down , my thoughts always becomes clear when I seat down hear by myself & just smell the water !

Most of the time it's pretty clean . I am surprised how it looks now after the new look . And it's still looks nice after this long , like other places which becomes typical ny city parks !

Most of the time they have a lot of food trucks , fruit trucks & small shopping areas . You can also buy tickets for going to Ellis Island to see The Statue of Liberty!

Lovely place to spend evening with friends & just chill out. The sunset is always great too.

For more than 200 years, The Battery has been an invaluable part of New York City's history. In 1855, Castle Garden, situated inside the Park, became the world's first immigrant depot. Decades before Ellis Island was built or the Statue of Liberty gazed down at incoming boats, millions of newcomers arrived at The Battery from Europe and elsewhere.

Although its role has changed, people from around the world still visit The Battery for a view of the city's past. Ferries dock at its shore to pick up visitors to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, and all summer long concerts play on its grounds.

Its beautiful waterfront and flower gardens make The Battery a lovely place to wander. For those who'd like a longer stroll, the park's location at the southern tip of Manhattan makes it a classic starting point for walking tours through the city.

Many visits that we've had into New York city, we have stayed very close to the Battery, so we have enjoyed the little park and the beautiful setting close to the water.

Cute little park in the financial district with a dog park, lots of walking paths, and nearby subway stations. I loved the castle area and you can't beat free public restrooms! The view of the water and the Statue of Liberty in the distance was beautiful. Lots of construction but overall it's still a great park and makes you feel like you're not in a big city.

Beautiful park with beautiful views of the water and the Statue of Liberty in the distance. There's a lot of paths that wind through the park and take you by the water. In the warmer months, the park provides a nice reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the Financial District. Lots of people eating lunch on one of the many park benches, walking or playing with their dogs, and sightseeing.

The only downside is that you will be harassed by ticket sellers trying to get you to buy a ticket for the ferry. Just the other day, one came up to me and asked if I was looking for the ferry. After I said no, he asked where I was going. I told him I was just walking around (I work in the area and enjoy taking a stroll during my lunch break) and he scoffed and rudely said, "YEAH, SURE YOU ARE." That comment was totally uncalled for. There's always 2-3 dozen ticket sellers around the entrance, perimeter, and inside of the park. It doesn't matter if you're a tourist or a local, they will come up to you or try to catch your attention by blocking your way. As another reviewer said, there should be designated booths for them, so people who do want tickets can go up and ask.

Again, the presence of some overly persistent (and downright nasty) ticket sellers is the only bad thing about the park. Unless you need their help, try to stay out of their way!

      Battery Park

The green line comes here at bowling green stop. Once you get off just head straight to the water/harbor area, you can't miss this magnificent park.

The waters have such a beautiful view. Plenty of seatings both near the harbor area and on the grass. So you can definitely grab a bite and take a rest to eat here.

A lot of street vendors parked near the park. Also this park is right near the Staten Island ferry. There is also a kids playground.

A must visit if for local and tourists!

I love The Battery. When I used to live in the area (and it was called Battery Park), you'd find me here on the weekends, pretending to be a photographer and just enjoying life.

Coming back over a decade later felt a bit surreal because there are changes but most of them are for the good and I appreciate that this park is still a place for people to spend a nice day.

The park has a lot of historical significance so you will see many a statue, etc. Take some time to check out the history. It's pretty interesting.

There is a lot more shade than there was a decade ago but still the same amount of places to sit, both on benches and the like and on grass. If you're into Pokémon, there are a few good pokestops and gyms around here as well. LOL!

This used to be where I'd take the ferry to Governor's Island. I don't know if that's still the case but it is still the launching point for Staten Island, Liberty Island and Ellis Island.
