The Cabin

The Cabin is a great addition to the Midtown Sacramento scene. This modern lodge style bar is somehow both large and cozy at the same time tucked off 21st Street just south of L. There is a small outdoor seating area along the sidewalk, but most of the establishment is inside. Parking is decent in the area, but please don't drive to a bar.

The interior of The Cabin is the real star. You are instantly transported to a mountain lodge with wood paneling and an interesting log ceiling. All the decorations make you feel like you're in a cute Airbnb in Tahoe. Hidden in the décor are a few televisions that allow you to track the game while pretending to talk to your date. Seating at the bar actually has padded seats, although a lot of the other seating is hard wood.

But, you're here for some flavored ethanol. That is one of the fun parts of The Cabin. They are known for their unique cocktails which are good and expensive, but they also have a full bar and many other options. It is a little weird to come here when it is very hot outside, but this place must really shine in February when all the dry January people are cold and thirsty. I had a Northstar which was a gin and Amaro cocktail that really packed a punch. Probably should have tried the campfire cocktail with a Lactaid garnish.

There were only a few people in the place, so I do not know how much noise this place echoes on a packed night. All that wood may either help or hurt. The place looks like a fun option as the many rooms can encourage mixing for a few hours. Prices are steep, but everything is expensive these days. The Cabin is cheaper than a room in Tahoe though.

Sacramento needs a place like The Cabin. This would be a great place to end the night actually, but hitting them up anytime would work.

I've been meaning to try this place out for so long. I remember when I heard a place like this existed nearby and I knew I had to go. The vibes are surreal in here. I felt like I was in a movie. This feels like a home that was converted into a bar.

They played nothing but the hits! The people here are friendly. The drinks are delicious and decently priced. The s'more's drink was one of the craziest drinks I've ever had.

Bottom Line/TLDR: killer soundtrack

Great vibes and atmosphere; there's even a "pine scent" that characterizes the inside which is a great touch! Drinks are a bit pricey but tasty.

Honestly I've been pretty disappointed with the service. I've been here twice in the past month, and both times it took a long time to get my first drink, even with a low amount of people in the bar. Yesterday the bartender was talking to other patrons/her friends and was not super attentive. I would have ordered another drink but it took forever to get her attention, and there were only 4-5 other people there. So I closed out.

This bar is cute and cozy with the cabin vibe, but I just can't higher than 3 stars because I've had multiple bad experiences here with service. I went a couple weekends ago and it wasn't even that busy and I was standing at the bar waiting while the bartenders talked to each other. Drinks are just okay, price is fine. It's very loud in here always. The bathrooms are never clean on the weekend and there's always a line. I would say it's mediocre overall.

This place is really kitschy and fun with the country cabin theme. There's lots of comfy seating. And a Bob Ross shrine obvs. We had two drinks. One was good, the other...not so much.

Cabin Old Fashioned, $12: Old Forester 100 Proof, Brown Butter Syrup, Lavender, Bitters. This was a unique and tasty twist on an old fashioned. Which by definition, would not be old fashioned I suppose.

Stabbin' Cabin, $12: Bulleit Bourbon, Blackberry, Lemon, Soda. This was way too syrupy sweet. I wish I had asked the bartender for a replacement, but that's my own confidence problem! This drink alone should've taken another star off, but the atmosphere really is cute. I'd just get something different.

We've visited The Cabin a few times when visiting friends in Sac and we love this kitschy spot. It definitely can be a bit of a scene depending on what time you go so just be ready for that. During our recent day after Christmas visit we ordered what probably is one of their more obnoxious holiday drinks - a s'mores inspired cocktail that gets torched and lit on fire. I asked the bartender how much he hates making the drink and he indulged me in the conversation rather positively. The space is cool, fun bartenders and great cocktails so would highly recommend.

We had so much fun at the Cabin! This is a popular spot in Midtown and it can get pretty packed at peak hours. Our preference is to go when it's not busy and enjoy a few drinks at the bar.

On our last visit we had the bartender surprise us with some drinks and everything we tried was delicious.

Aside from some unique drinks on the menu the decor is AMAZING! I love the ceilings and all the decorations. You really feel like you're in a fancy lodge. Add their Gimme S'more cocktail, with vodka, chocolate, cream & a flaming marshmallow really completes the experience.

We were lucky the last time we visited as well, they were making their house strawberry syrup and it smelled SO GOOD! I'm excited to try more of their signature drinks and bartender creations.

Love coming here for drinks! Always a good time. The decor is my absolute favorite in the area! Service was good when it isn't too busy.

This place was amazing !! I been trying to go for awhile now so glad I finally made it !! You walk in to a cabin literally I felt like I was somewhere else not in Sacramento I loved the decor the big bear in the front the lights !! I love all of it! Clean and organized establishment!! They also have an area with a fire place very cute !


We had the nicest bartender Mark was amazing! He was super attentive and very friendly . I got the Gimme s'mores drink wow so delicious !! Its a must try !! I got a gin drink after that one called Northstar it was good also !
