We went here for breakfast while staying at the Magnolia hotel. Absolutely spectacular food! Beautiful ambience. Great service. Expensive, but expected for the location.

Ordered the Dungeness crab omelette two days in a row as it is the best omelette I've ever had in my entire life. Real Dungeness crab, none of that imitation stuff; and excellent hollandaise sauce on top.

The pastry basket was also delicious and freshly made.

We also had the Soufflé pancake, which was exceptional with maple syrup.

The apple cinnamon oatmeal was delicious, and granola and yogurt was equally good.

      Yum yum!

Service is great, but food is mediocre.

I'm so bummed to have to write a review about our disappointing experience at The Courtney Room. While the servers and somms were fantastic, we were let down by the food.

We opted for the tasting menu, and my husband got the wine pairing. The wines were great, very well explained, and he definitely left feeling quite tipsy at the end of dinner. The only downside was that the drinks came out quickly but the food didn't. Alcohol on an empty stomach isn't the best situation, and the first few courses were small bites. I wish they at least timed everything so that drinks would come out slightly before the next course.

On to the food. We can count 1 dish that we thoroughly enjoyed. Every other dish was mediocre, at best. One, in particular, the beef dish, was what really tipped us over the edge. The sauce it came with was incredibly salty, and they even added flaky salt on top of everything! It was inedible and such a waste of a nice cut of beef.

Our server, Sage, was very friendly, accommodating, and apologetic. We get it. It's not his fault, so we weren't upset. We were just left feeling disappointed at the prospect of a great meal, only to be let down so hard by the end of the night. What a shame.

Food was good, drinks were good, but it took FOREVER for the two of us to have dinner here. The server and various other waitstaff were buzzing all around during the ordering process, then once the app came it was another hour before our mains came and the waiter/manager/etc pulled a disappearing act, and anytime they did wander nearby they were studiously avoiding looking over at us.

By the end we wanted to just cancel the entrees and leave, but since we couldn't find a single employee to tell, we ended up angrily eating two overpriced mains (the portion size on the pork was comical). Zero hint of an apology for the very long wait from any of the three people (???) that brought our main courses over.

I would not return, and can't recommend the restaurant.

This was my favorite meal in our trip to the Pacific Northwest.

      - Highlights. The Sommelier was a standout. He nailed our request for a local wine similar to a Bordeaux in our price range. He even suggested a 3 ounce pour to go with my crab dish.

      - The staff could not have been friendlier and I felt well looked after.

      - The food is outstanding and it lacked the intimidating presentation that sometimes go with this level of food. I wanted to eat everything on the menu.

      Do not miss this restaurant!

Hats off to everyone who works here.

We were guests of the hotel and decided to try breakfast here. It was excellent. We ordered a shakshuka and a salmon poached egg. Both were superb. Compliments to the chef. I'm Middle Eastern and I liked the addition of the avocados in the shakshuka dish. I usually have shashuka with sunny side up eggs but it was great with poached eggs. Good service. Excellent good. Give it a try! Ambiance is nice too. Makes for a cool relaxed place to grab drinks with friends or colleagues.

To be honest, I solely came here for the name. As a child, I remembered visiting Courtney Street, so when I saw there was a restaurant called the Courtney room, I figured it was a must.

We came for breakfast. We were not hotel guests, unlike the majority of patrons at the Courtney Room. The prices were relatively steep for breakfast, but it seemed as though breakfast may be a perk of the hotel leading it to be popular amongst hotel guests.

Everything we ate was standard and tasty! Service was excellent and the decor within the restaurant is beautiful.

Service was amazing! Food mid at best. Not worth the price. Extremely slow in kitchen. Overall would not recommend. We arrived around 6:20pm res was at 6:30pm. Left around 9:30pm

We are celebrating our honeymoon and decided to do the tasting menu. We also added a wine pairing as well.

Our server (Kyla ?)was knowledgeable quick to answer any questions that we had (I'm gluten free) and always reported back every few minutes to let us know what was going on. It was about 25 minutes to before we got the appetizers. Three different appetizers and a drink that came out very quickly. after the appetizers, everything seem to go downhill as the food was delayed by almost 45 minutes. Our server came up to us twice letting us know "our food was on the way out" She apologize for the wait.

As far as the wine pairing went, they(Colin ?) were amazing as well and answered many questions, fully knowledgeable. Wine paired extremely well with any meals that we had would highly recommend. The pours were large and seem to get a large variety of wine from around the world.

Overall, all the food that came out seemed to be a little bland in flavor. We absolutely loved the ribeye strips in a miso sauce, melt in the mouth and full of flavor. Presentation was absolutely stunning on all the foods.

Giving 2 stars due to the amazing service on the floor, food was decent at best, wine was well paired, and the staff did try their best to make us feel heard once we finally expressed our feelings of disappointment. We did wait until one of the finals courses to express our feelings as we try to be understanding especially in the food industry, but spending nearly $400 was not worth it.

We are extremely grateful to the staff for doing the best they could to rectify our celebration. We would give them 5 stars!

We stayed at the magnolia hotel (which I'd recommend) and our room offered free continental breakfast which turned out to be one of my fav breakfasts ever and I had the same protein option which comes with smoked salmon, egg, cheese, and fruits 3 days in a row. I also tried all 4 pastries they had to offer: croissant (super flakey and buttery), savory scone (pictured), sweet scone (looks the same but cinnamon sugar-ey), and muffin (the perfect balance of sweetness, moistness, and substance). I have to say their pastry game is on point being a hotel restaurant. We also came by for some late night bites. Husband's burger was good but my kale salad was amazing! It's so pretty and tasty at the same time. Service is great too. Price is on the higher end comparing to other establishments around town.

A nice place to grab a quick breakfast. The scrambled eggs were great, and everything else was as you'd expect it to be.

      Updated review

We visited the Courtney Room twice more on our visit to Victoria.

Breakfast: The granola that's part of the continental breakfast menu is really good, and the salmon eggs benedict was fantastic (has beats on it that go perfectly the capers, lox, egg and hollandaise). Great service as usual despite being quite busy.

Cocktails: we had excellent service by two bartenders. Their cocktail menu is unique, offering 8 cocktails of their design with a neat book that describes them, followed by their other cocktails that are not just standards. We chose 2 from their 8-page book (Maple Bay, Salish Sea Breeze, both excellent) and two from their more standard menu (Pineapple Express, Sea Bird, also excellent, especially if you like Tiki-esque drinks.)

Highly recommend Courtney Room for cocktails and breakfast.
