The Cozy Place Restaurant

Authentic Chinese cuisine. Friendly service and reasonable prices. Being from the US we are accustomed to Chinese food (and any food, really) being cooked and tabled rather quickly. This was not the case here and we have ZERO complaints. We waited a little over 20 minutes before all our plates had been served (they were not busy) and it was worth the wait.

Collectively we ordered sweet and sour pork, the dragon eggplant, the braised pork spare ribs, and the house chow mein. All of us got small helpings of each others' plates and we all left satisfied!

Stir-Fried Dried Green Beans ($19.95)
The winner is this category would be Tropical Island Restaurant on Shelbourne; however, The Cozy Place offering would be close behind it. Decent with some crunch still; you can get it spicy or not.

Ma Po Tofu ($19.95)
You can order it meatless or minced pork; it's somewhat authentic. It does have some heat to it (for those sensitive to spice); however, it's pretty solid!

Service was good and professional on call-in, payment, wait, questions around the menu, and when the order was ready. English was fluently spoken by the lady working the front and the man cooking the dishes behind her.

=== 4. ENVIRONMENT
It's a long, narrow restaurant - your group of 6, maybe 8 could fit at one table in the front. For everyone else, you're accommodated in tables of 2's or 4's along the wall. If bringing a wheelchair or baby stroller, I would stick to the table in the front. Parking is all metered on the street - note that the city has their parking enforcement office basically across the way working until 8pm, so put payment into the meters upfront even if you're coming by to do a quick pickup!

At the suggestion of the umbrella shop owner in the alley we tried Cozy Place . Food was good especially the boiled fish in a spicy soup and the veggie eggplant. We had the Gung Po chicken which was a bit over done.

The food here is great! Excellent portions, full of flavor, cooked perfectly and well presented. Friendly and attentive service. It's a small space with limited seating and a minimal staff but the food speaks for itself; delicious!

Great little place with a diner atmosphere and amazing food. We had the gung po chicken and braised pork which were both excellent. It's a smaller menu but quality and delicious food. Owners were both very nice as well!

Best Chow Mien ever! So fresh, flavorful and delicious! The service and ambience is great too.

We're from LA visiting my family in Victoria. We did a take out order for 7 dishes for 7 people. Found Cozy Place on Yelp. Food quality was above average; I particularly liked the level of spiciness in the dishes we wanted spicy. Palpable, but not overwhelming. Also, all vegetables in any dish was not overcooked. The beans were still had a touch of crunch considering they travelled 20 minutes before we ate. Same for the salt and pepper tentacles. Very tasty! Chow mein and fried rice were also excellent. The fish with vegetables dish was so-so; fish was coated and appeared fried; would prefer steamed, but was still tasty. Our only complaint was there wasn't enough food!

This is a little hidden gem. The location is unassuming but the food was delish. The gentleman does the cooking and the wife waits the tables. We ordered the shrimp egg rolls, fried calamari, green beans, peppered beef, and the cozy place special chow mein. Honestly, every one of these entrees was amazing.

What a gem! Fresh, flavorful, authentic, and healthy dishes made in front of us with love and personalized attention.

The place is incredible. I've had a lot of Chinese food in the past. The food here is outstanding! Hands down.
