The Hive Salon

I first met Dakota three salons ago and have followed her like a faithful devotee ever since.
When I tell you this woman is a magician with color, I mean it. Never has my hair grown out so seamlessly, so naturally - it's actually a terrible business model because I can go an ungodly amount of time between color. Great for me, maybe less so for her bank account. She really plans how the color will evolve and change over time, even taking into account my well water. And when I decide that a strip of orange or hot pink is a fun idea, they fade away gently - like magic.
The fact that her salon is as environmentally focused as it is, that all the products are better for me and the planet, and that my hair is so shiny/amazing/beautiful when I leave makes me wonder how I will ever be able to get my hair done anywhere else. This is it - my hair promised land. And it's super cute inside and she always has the best bubbly water, which makes the stay that much more pleasant.
Book now - she is in high demand and SO worth it.

Sarah is great. The place is well located with plenty of parking. It's accessible for pedestrians and bicyclists as well. The studio is clean with a hip relaxed feel. They offer their clients teas, and/or water. Sarah listens and it's patient and talented. The studio salon has a dog he is cute clean and friendly but not overly nosey or pesky. Curly girls know how hard it is to find someone who knows how to cut hair the right way. I've traveled far and wide seeking out the best curly stylists from NYC to LA. Imagine my delight to find Dakota right here in Sebastopol!! She got my tired, sad, tangled hair into really sexy bouncy luscious healthy shape in one hour. She had brilliant intuition and skill about what would look best for my hair type and face shape. One of the best cuts I've had in ages. Also she's a wonderful person and so easy to talk to, like talking to an old friend! The salon is also a beautiful, calming environment. Plus there's boba next door -- what's not to love?? It's entirely worth the wait for an appointment. Highly highly recommend!!

I moved up to northern CA From LA 5 years ago.. leaving my beloved stylist behind- since I've moved I've tried too many salons to count. I've been searching and searching for the perfect salon/ stylist and let me TELL YA! HIVE IS WHERE ITS AT!

Holly has taken my dry, damaged, brass infested hair to the most beautiful healthy blonde ever! I am so grateful I found her.

I've had extensions for over 10 years, she gave me such an amazing Bob I've ditched my extensions!

Holly is wonderful! She listens and helps me verbalize what it is I want. This time I wanted a warmer golden blonde and she nailed it, as usual. The salon is beautiful, conversation is pleasant, and she makes it absolutely worth every minute and penny

Holly is so talented and really exceeded my expectations for getting a full blonde balayage and cut; she listened to my ideas and went above and beyond. The Hive Salon is a delightful welcoming place. Dakota is an artist with color, she takes her time to make sure you get the outcome you want. Sometimes there is a process but its to keep your happy and healthy, a step most hair dressers do not always balance with the outcomes.
Holly is also amazing, I have had her in mind for my back up if i ever needed one, now that they are together under one salon, makes everything very convenient!

I've been a client of Dakota's for a long time, she's the only person I trust with my hair. She works her magic and I always leave satisfied, she has a lot of color knowledge and knows how to make my hair goals come true, she educates me while I'm in her chair so I know exactly why/ what she's doing and also, what to do when I'm at home to get the same effect, which is something I value. Plus she's an amazing person to hang out with for 3+ hours as My hair processes. Not to mention, The Hive is a BEAUTIFUL establishment!! It's clean, comfortable and a total reflection of Dakota, The owner- visit The Hive, And if you can't get in with Dakota, Holly is a phenomenal stylist as well

Dakota's new space is what you wished your house looked like. It's comfortable and beautiful and inspirational and fun - kind of a lot like Dakota, I guess!
All the products are natural and she's thought of every detail - I mean like down to the ceramic cups she'll serve you really good tea in - to make you feel like an actual celebrity.

Dakota as a stylist is also what you'd wish for: she asks for what you want, REALLY listens, and executes exactly what you articulated. I leave feeling pretty. If you want to look trendy, she can do that. If you want to look unique, she can do that. She will truly listen and make you feel like you deserve the care. I love a really heavy bang (sorry, girl) and she cuts em just the way I like them.

My only worry is that you'll read this review and book her so far out that I can't get in.

Such a stunning salon! It has a very good atmosphere that any adult could enjoy. The people who work there are friendly, and also very real! It's an authentic shop aimed towards being as green as possible with their products that are in glass bottles, and all they do to reduce waste and recycle everything. Very cool concept! They do an amazing job with hair, every person walking out of the salon looks like a million bucks. I had my grey blending there and put in some lowlights and had a curly cut and it's been amazing how well it flatters me. They know what they're doing!!
