The Home Depot

This Home Depot is hit and miss. If you want excellent customer service, go to ACE. But if you are looking for selection, the Home Depot is the right place. They are helpful if they aren't too busy and if they know what they are talking about. Again hit or miss.

The consistent part is the Garden Center. They have a great selection of potted plants. Their garden staff is all very knowledgeable and if they don't know, they can send you to the person that will know the answer. Thanks to their garden center, our organic garden is flourishing so far.

After reading some of the other reviews, I expected bad service at this Home Depot. However, every time I visit this store, I'm always pleasantly surprised by the inventory, cleanliness (as far as a home improvement store goes) and the staff.

For instance, I stopped by Home Depot today to look at the artificial turf. I didn't know what to expect (or how it is even sold in stores like this). However, I had several people who helped -- showing me where it is located (in two locations actually) and helping me find someone who could help me. Eventually, an employee named "Jason" assisted me.

Jason explained everything that I needed to know. He answered all of my questions (and my wife and I had a lot of questions). He gave me some tips and advice too. And, of course, he used a massive machine to line up the conveyor belt (that holds carpet and turf rolls), aligned it into machine and cut the size we needed.

This experience is what I tend to feel at this store. I used to travel to the store just off El Camino Real in San Carlos. Yet, that store is often very busy. Plus, I have never had the customer service there (or most other stores) that I get at this store in East Palo Alto.

So, my experience is very different from what is found in some of the other reviews. Despite being so huge, this is a slower-paced store. it's not quite as crowded as some of the others. But, the inventory is great and accurate (when you can check if something is available on the website).

Tip: This Home Depot is conveniently located just off of Highway 101. Instead of taking the busier University Avenue exit, I suggest taking Embarcado to East Bayshore. There's not as much traffic and the store is located (with an entrance) off of E. Bayshore. It's easier to go in and out this way.

Service for windows, NO!
Subcontractors or "Design Consultant", Mark Mendoza, scammed an elderly, disabled woman!
Do not sign his iPad or give him your credit card! They charged it without even providing any service or even measuring the windows, the "quote" was incorrect too. They pulled an illegal permit on a single family home, rather than a multi-family residence. This was preemptive !
If I could put negative stars to post this, I would; but I was required to add a star!

This is my go to place for all small home projects, and they always seem to have have what I need. The only trouble is with getting help to find it or find someone who knows where to look. Yesterday, after spending half an hour walking the isles back and forth across the whole store to find a barbecue spark generator, as per the differing directions of several staff members I met along the way, I gave up and ordered on Amazon. But I did get a couple of very inexpensive wall switches for a garbage disposal for only $2.44 a piece - excellent value. Also, I never had any issue with any of my returns. Great store overall.

*Cue home depot theme song* If you need to get something for home improvement after shopping at IKEA this is your place to do. I mostly come here to get the soil or potting mix because it's readily available. I must say this location is very easy to navigate and is one of the biggest locations in San Mateo county. I realized that it's bigger than the Home Depot near my flat. Sales associates here are very friendly and are ready to help. You don't have to wait in line for a register to open and that is a big win here. If you are looking for Garden related stuff there is no need to wait in line there because there is more than one employee in service there.
Drawback: Not all products are available here so please check the website on your phone before making plans to purchase things here.

After paying East Palo Alto Home Depot $8k+ on plantation shutters, we have experienced many delays and wanted HD to resolve the issues. They basically have refuse to service us and gave us no options:

1. Not picking up calls, or put you on hold for 20 minutes, or telling you "your time is up" during conversation, or simply hang up the call.

2. I gave them "order ID", my email, name, exact dollar amount, barcode numbers, etc but she said she could not find my order in her computer systems.

3. She asked me to take a photo and send it back to her, despite the fact that the PDF receipt was initially sent to me on 8/17.

4. She mistook me for someone else paying $20k for Anderson windows but would not have the patience to listen to my name or email. She hanged up on me after not being able to find my order.

Avoid Home Depot - you are buying delays and headaches.
Go to OSH or a store where people care about their customers. Or at least their computer systems can find the purchases. Or a place where people are competent enough to use email or search functions.

I was there today and a employee name Gabriel he's not there to do his job he was lagging me and I asked for how to put Shetrock in my truck and he took more than 45 minutes. He's not supposed to be working there. He doesn't help anybody. They need better people to assist people they cannot lift anything.

Their delivery ads are a lie. This has been a situation before and now. Our item stated delivery is available but when I tried to have it delivered I was told item could only be purchased in store. If I could do that I wouldn't be spending over 100.00 to have it delivered. I would never believe anything Home Depot had to offer or say ever again. You can count on me tell everyone about this. I am sick of this I would go out of town to Lowe's over ever ordering from Home Depot again.

Drove to this Home Depot to buy some paint for a DIY small project that I am doing at my house. Had a couple of questions on what would be the best type of paint to match my needs. It took forever to find someone who can help. However, eventually I was able to find someone who was very knowledgeable and helpful.

When me and my family went here to purchase a Christmas tree the staff was very sweet, along with attentive to the needs of the consumer (: The tree was also so cheap given for what the time of year entails for prices! I would highly recommend shopping at Home Depot all year round!

Curbside pickup at Home Depot is a joke.

Ordered a shop vac through the app. Said it would be ready for curbside pickup in 2 hours. One box, not a big deal, should be simple right? Called the store 2 hours later, and after several failed attempts to get anybody on the phone, some dude says that they're short staffed and give them another hour. 3 and a half hours after ordering it's still not processed. I was out at the curbside pickup spots with three empty cars in curbside spots. Tried 4 times to call inside, no answer. I went in, pulled the shop vac myself, took it to "customer service". The store didn't look that busy, and saw plenty of employees. The bored looking CS guy didn't listen to my explanation and said "you have to pay for that", told him I already did through the app, then he finally asked for my order number, looked it up, said "it hasn't been plucked yet"... No s#i& Sherlock, that why I plucked it myself and want to get the pluck out of here.

Bottom line, If you need or want curbside pickup for a hardware store item, don't do it from Home Depot.
