Easy 5 stars! Having said that, I can't help but laugh at the people who are complaining about not having enough vegetarian or gluten free options. Are you kidding me? YOU'RE the one with the special needs diet....This is a traditional bed and breakfast. There is no expectation that they will suit whatever special diet a traveller is on, nor should they. It's a ridiculous assumption. If you have a special diet, just bring your own food. It's that simple. Also, no one should have to recommend your form of transportation.....It's a city. Use your heads and rely on public transportion or more convenient, uber and lyft! What the heck? Rant over and continuing on to my review:

My wife and I recently stayed here for a couple nights.....This place is outstanding. Worth every penny. Checking in and out was very easy. It's close to the airport as well as good restaurants and shopping. The property is very well kept. We stayed in the cottage apartment. It was very spacious, super clean, had two bedrooms, a kitchen, a couple tvs, a deep jacuzzi and a mini fridge. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The breakfast spread is pretty big. I was expecting/hoping for bacon, eggs and pancakes type breakfasts and it turned out to be a large variety of fruits, cheeses, deli meat, cereal, oatmeal, quiche, bagels, pies, etc.....It was good but definately not as hearty as I like.

The only thing I wasn't crazy about is the location. Don't get me wrong, the motel is just a few minutes from good dining and shopping, so what I mean by this is the motel is also fairly close to a homeless problem. You go one direction and you're good. Go the other and you're walking through a tent city of homeless people. The inn keeper/owner (Marty) will suggest you stay away from this area as it is "uncomfortable", as they put it. We used Uber for travel nearly everywhere we went, but when walking around the area at night, there were definitely some unsavory looking people walking around too.

Speaking of Marty....This guy is great! He'll talk to you like he's known you forever. He's got tons of stories, insight and cracks a bunch of jokes. My wife and I really enjoyed sitting with him and talking. Seems the other guests felt the same way, as they joined us and everyone talked for a while. I don't know if this is the regular experience here, but it was our experience and we enjoyed it. I was bummed that we didn't get to see him before leaving.

I can't say that we would return here for sure. The city is big and there are a ton of lodging options and other motels that we'd like to experience as we travel. What I can say for sure though is this place was excellent and we would definitely recommend the Inn San Francisco to anyone looking for a quality bed and breakfast with easy access to anywhere in the city.

One of the most unexpected wonderful experiences of my life. Definitely a must if traveling to San Francisco.
I have traveled for work for the last 10 years - all over the world, and this was my first Bed and Breakfast experiences.
I felt like I traveled back to the late 1800's, The room, was spectacular. The antiques are fantastic.
      The Breakfast was amazing.
What they dont mention is the amazing rooftop sitting area with an 360 view of San Francisco- that is beyond wonderful.
They also have a Victorian garden with a hot tub.
If I had known how amazing this experience would have been I would have stayed longer. I will definitely return.

Stunning rooms, immaculately clean, delicious breakfast and really kind staff and owner. Definitely recommend this place. Also really appreciate the reasonable timing for the end of breakfast and checkout. We enjoyed it all and the location is quieter at night than I'd expected for the Mission. Nice neighborhood streets nearby for an evening walk after the hot tub, and the building stays very quiet.

We stayed in the Garden Cottage and had a lovely time. The space was large and roomy. Breakfast was lovely (quiche, pastries, breads, fruit). There is a queen bed and daybed in the nicer, larger room, and another queen in the small bedroom. There is a nice kitchen with a non-working antique stove and mini fridge. No microwave. There is a large jetted tub which would be challenging for some to get in and out of. The jacuzzi is right outside the door but we never heard anyone in it even though they were. It's very serene there. Nice roof deck with beautiful views. Parking right across the street (very tight spaces). Wonderful customer service.

We stayed here the day before Christmas Eve to go to dinner at a nearby restaurant. The staff was so helpful and accommodating. The decorations for the holidays were so beautiful, honestly so dazzling! There is a small communal area downstairs that is so cozy with coffee, tea, and fresh fruit (my favorite part!). Breakfast was so delicious, a lot of fresh fruit and delicious vegetable quiche.
The beds were soft and comfortable. The shower was nice and hot. Honestly, this was the cutest inn I've ever been to.

The Inn is a special, magical place. For me it's a perfect place for a solo retreat. It's sooooo beautiful. The garden is perfect for writing morning pages, the rooftop deck (room 44) is perfect for yoga, the hot tub in the garden is super relaxing. The classical music during breakfast is enchanting. The people who work there are special -- they became dear to me over the years.

This popped up in my feed, soliciting a review. Which is interesting because it was almost exactly 40 years ago that I first stayed at the Inn. My now deceased partner, Janice, and me, her brother and my now deceased ex-husband took over two adjoining rooms for three nights. Lives were changed in that Inn, paths unexpected unfolded. Janice even ended up working there for over a year for the then two men who owned the place.

It's a landmark. It's fabulous. It's a bit of SF history which deserves your attention. Stay there. You will not be disappointed.

My husband and I love this hotel. It is a real treat for us to stay here. Staff are nice. Love the Victorian feel, the huge array of fruit for breakfast (plus the oat and soy milk options for us vegans), the furniture, the feeling of history in the place, and the 12 noon check out makes staying here so much more relaxing. It makes such a difference when you don't feel you have to rush in the morning. They were also very welcoming for us to check in early if we needed to. It feels like they actually care about their guests and want to give them a nice experience. The redwood hot tub has spoiled us for life. Cozy outdoors in the garden and it is hot. Therapeutic temp. I feel like I'm in the hot springs in Asia again.
Parking is not the most convenient you will find but it is certainly the least expensive we have seen in the city and it is secure so we don't have to worry about our car. It's worth it. No elevator so expect some stairs.
I also have to say I had the pleasure of meeting the owner Marty the last time we stayed. It is clear that this Inn his a labor of love. He was so friendly. Told me all about the place (I asked...he seems like the kind of guy who loves to share his "things" but who wouldn't bombard you with info if you weren't into hearing about it).
We have only stayed here twice, once on the 2nd floor and once on the 3rd floor.

We loved our stay at the Inn!
I stayed here 10 years ago and it was such a special experience, that I chose to bring my husband here on our way home from Australia recently.

It still has that wonderful charm that I remember, the same service and no demise in the quality it offers to guests. They give that extra care and touch, which makes travel much more memorable and magical.

Marty the owner is a wonderful host and will make you feel right at home.
I really didn't want to leave the Inn. It reminds me of the magic travel offered in the good old days. Where your spirit is ignited.

The Inn is warm, charming, creative and peaceful. A special place to stay.
Try the hot tub, see the view from the roof, and hang out in the common areas.
