Q:
Do any of the dishes contain MSG?
A:
i don't think so. I am sensitive and have quick reactions reactions if I eat food containing msg. Although I didn't eat whole menu. I had rice, potatoes, tostada salad and sampled about half of the salsa bar.

What meats are gluten free?
A:
Hello, All of our meats are gluten free. We do use soy sauce in our marinade but it is a gluten free version. Thanks

Came here last night for dinner at around 19:00 the restaurant was half full. But by the end of our meal the tables where packed and their was a line to place your order. Try to come early to avoid the wait. The restaurant is on the small size and can get claustrophobic and hot due to the kitchen. At first I was a bit confused on the ordering, either "A" do I sit down and they take my order or "B" go up to the counter/kitchen area and place the order. The answer is B you make your order at the counter grab your number and pick a table. Just like Farolitos or a Tres Amigos whole in the wall restaurants. I wasn't expecting that here, since the restaurant looked more nicer then a Farolitos. After placing your order and picking your table you can then go to the small salsa bar. Get your salsa of choice and your utensils and enjoy with your free tortilla chips.
The food came out fast and hot. I had the two enchiladas in red guajillo sauce rice and black beans. When I first saw the enchiladas, they looked smaller then regular size tortillas but that could of just been an optical illusion?!... anyways. One of the enchilada was grilled chicken and the second was carne asada. Both very tasty meat moist and enough cheese in the enchiladas. The red guajillo sauce had a nice spice which lingered in every bite from beginning to end. I love having that spice through out my meal. The black beans where a nice side, a bit creamy and went well with the rice. My friend had the carne asada burrito, whole wheat tortilla. I had a bite of the burrito and to my surprise it was very tasty. Next time I will opt for the burrito. Don't forget to wash everything down with their home made horchata. It was spectacular! Not like you would get at any other Mexican place. It had a fresh taste and the cinnamon was not over powering, a bit thicker then most horchatas but not as sweet, very tasty.
One thing that I did notice eating at Little Chihuahua is that for once I was the minority in a Mexican/Tex Mex restaurant. From start to finish of the evening every customer coming in and out of the place where caucasian. Oh and yes I do think this is more Tex Mex (Americanized) Mexican food. Thus adapting to the caucasian crowed. Nothing wrong with that. It does give boring/regular everyday Mexican food a twist. Which I enjoy every now and then. Would I return to Little Chihuahua? Yes I would! One thing I did not enjoy are the bulky chairs, its so hard to move around, pull in and out of the tables. I'm thinking its the tile and the wood that are not getting along. Wish they can slide in and out more easily.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 34193Jul 1, 2024
My go to spot for a casual takeout pr eat in dinner! Hardly ever a line and always seating available. Food in hand in 10 min.
My classic is usually the carne asada bowl or burrito, but recently got into their carne asada quesadilla. It is SO good if you love cheese.
Also you must try their churro waffle. So perfectly crispy on the outside with soft fluffy batter inside. Served warm and delicious and artery clogging.
Five stars for the tasty, cheap for sf, and fast vibesHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Decent food, lacking with service. On two different occasions served food with allergens when specifically ordered without. When taken back both times was told I was incorrect when the person I was with had an allergic reaction each time.
No apology, just an explanation that we were wrong. Not coming back anymoreHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

After attempting to finish the fishiest, most overpriced burrito in San Francisco ,I told myself that I should leave a 2 or 3 star review and not a 1 star- it's not like the food gave me food poisoning and I shit my pants or something.
Please look at the star rating in this review.
The salmon burrito was not my friend.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jun 29, 2024
The burrito is too thin/small to justify in an era of soaring burrito prices. The food was decent and I enjoyed some of the salsas, but I can't recommend this spot due to this mid burrito. Anytime I get a steak and shrimp burrito I am almost always stuffed, or can't finish, but I left here still hungry and broke. Just walk closer to the mission.

Sorry our food wasn't to your liking. We do focus more on quality over quantity and understand that doesn't meet everyones needs. Thanks for trying us!

As a gluten free girly this is my go-to. It's really hard to find a gluten free burrito that doesn't dissolve into powder or mush when I take it out of the wrap... but their GF tortilla is PERFECT. I can't even tell the difference I always make my BF take a bite to ease my mind. The shrimp burrito is one of my favorites but you can't go wrong with the basics...everything is great. Although I've never sat down to eat the vibe inside is always busy but still clean. Service is quick!

Food here was ok. I've been here 2 times - one many years ago and again more recently to catch up with a friend.
I think the inside of the restaurant has been renovated since the last time I came in here many years ago. It looks a little different and things look a bit newer.
There's tons of seating even though the restaurant is quite small.
There's a small salsa bar near the ordering counter.
Service was decent. The food came quick.
I wasn't too hungry this time around so I got the chicken tortilla soup. It was ok. Nothing to write home about. It was a little spicy and it did taste fresh but it just wasn't anything I'd be come back for. I know burritos are more of the hype here but I don't really think I'd be back unless someone wants to explicitly try it or go there.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

All I have to say is to get the black bean plantain burrito. It is uniquely made and creatively delicious, and my go-to whenever I get takeout from The Little Chihuahua. With their fast service, it's always an easy decision to pop by for one.
I usually will grab an avocado from my fridge and spoon it onto each bite, as an extra little touch. Their chips and salsa (from a self-serve little salsa bar) are also top notch, don't forget them with your meal!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 1 - Dec 30, 2023
I am vegetarian and i love a good burrito bowl. I looooove this spot for a solid bowl with plenty of options for me!
I also love that they have 5 different salsas that you can take yourself, so they are not stingy with the salsas: they are all delicious, especially the chipotle!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Thanks for the upgrade Michelle. We have been working hard with the team to improve what seems to be a basic request but gets lost sometimes in the rush of things. Hopefully you see the improvements thanks. Andrew
Dec 28, 2023Previous reviewWhat the hell? This is for a delivered order. The food was good but plain because on each item, we requested sides of salsa from the salsa bar under, "add notes."
It's obvious that nobody there reads or cares about the notes & salsa requests. Is this a directive handed down from management? To just ignore notes requesting salsa from the salsa bar? That's really shitty. Why can't those readily available salsas be added to delivery orders? Why even have a section under each item to add notes if they won't be read & fulfilled?
If it's a problem, then just add a section for salsa sides & charge for them!
It was really disappointing.
Once again- do better!Sep 4, 2023Previous reviewEDIT: upgraded to 4 stars, food is always good, just wish the salsa requests would be honored every time.
We were happy to see that this outpost of Little Chihuahua was added to Uber Eats. The one on Polk St. was disappointing every time. We stopped ordering from them altogether.
Then, the Divisadero location showed up. We ordered & we were very satisfied. Mainly b/c they read order notes and added the salsas from their salsa bar that we requested.
Tonight we put in same order & requested the same salsas. It was delivered "dry." No salsas included at all. We used some left over Taco Bell taco sauces as that was all we had. We didn't order Little Chihuahua to use generic taco sauce packets. They make really good salsa there. If you can't be assured you'll get requested salsas then it's a waste of money.Jul 19, 2015Previous reviewThis 5 star review is for the Al Pastor tacos. They are the best around especially when you get the verde salsa from their exceptional salsa bar. The mushroom quesadilla is really good too!

Really mixed feelings. I've been here 3 times and have tried something different every time (and had a few bites of my boyfriend's food). I loved the salmon burrito and was sooo stuffed! I felt like it was reasonably priced for a salmon burrito.
The second time, I got the garlic shrimp burrito to go and I was so underwhelmed. The shrimp was overcooked and it just didn't taste great! I was really sad because I had expected it to be as good as the first time I went.
I decided to give it another shot and went again in person and ordered the al pastor burrito. All the flavors pretty much jumbled together. The meat was tender, but I felt like it needed some more fresh flavors in it. I didn't get much cheese or pineapple salsa and I felt like that would've made it a lot nicer.
The staff are friendly, but a lot of the water cups were super dirty (i.e. had lipstick stains all over them). I won't be coming back unfortunately but if you decide to go, definitely give the salmon a chance!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Rachel, Thanks for the review and feedback. I am sorry the garlic shrimp and al pastor were underwhelming. Both the Garlic shrimp and Al pastor burritos are top sellers and it seems like the kitchen in not preparing them correctly. Shrimp should not be overcooked and the Al Pastor should have plenty of cheese and pineapple. We clean and sanitize all of our cups, plates and flatware after every use. Lipstick can be stubborn and I have discuss this with the team to pay extra attention. Hopefully you will give us another try sometime.
