Love this gym and not because of location. I love this gym because it's a no frills, well ran, no hype gym. They don't use social media to get you to their gym and they don't have fancy lights or other bells and whistles (although the gym is nice). They focus on real deal boxing and athletic training with real athletes/passionate trainers. Don't let the other reviews about class pass phase you. This gym is worth the cost.

I love Park Gym!! I come here 5-6 days a week and take mostly boxing & weight lifting classes. My husband and I discovered Park Gym in 2020 on Geary right before quarantine went into effect. We re-discovered Park Gym in 2022 and resumed boxing classes 1x weekly. Things progressed, we met great people here, and now we're hooked. We bought the unlimited plan, took the Level 2 boxing exam and spar on Thursdays.
I feel healthy & strong, more confident. I've made great friends & love the community that David Park has built here! The instructors are knowledgeable & encouraging - before this, I didn't know my way around a bar bell or really any free weight equipment. Now, I do, though I'm constantly learning more.
And they have a delicious cafe to top the experience off. 10/10 recommend. Come check out this beautiful space, so much natural light. And be sure to greet Molly if she doesn't welcome you first!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 3, 2023
I came to this place because I needed to do a quick workout and that's what I got.
Staff was helpful and asked me to the point if I'll be doing a membership or drop in. They offered a great deal and rather paying the drop in fee. They offered the Buy a coffee and first class is free promotion.
10/10 for service
Equipment is perfect. When it comes down to it A-1 equipment and really offers everything in regards to boxing. They have double end bags, heavy bags, tear drop bags and speed bags.
10/10 for equipment
Location is where I'd say is why I rate my experience 4/5. Took me an hour to find parking and is near medical facilities which is a pretty busy area.
5/10 location
All in all great place to train. I can't say much about membership pricing since I only did a drop in and was a offered a promotion. If you live in the area I'd say it's best to walk, Uber/Lyft or Bus.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 19, 2022
Popped into The Park Gym as it was close to my hotel, but did not bring any of my gear with me (wraps, gloves).
Luckily, intro drop-in classes were 2 for $35 (though my trip ended before I could do another class), $4 for wraps, $5 for glove rentals. Not too shabby given the gym is spacious, open, clean and welcoming.
The front is a coffee shop so I was confused at first. There is ample room to wait, place your items in cubbies and use their clean locker rooms prior to class. You are also welcome to hop in to warm up but they will warm you up and make you question whether that in itself was the workout.
Had a great class with Coach Paulo -- he trained with us and showed us a bit of his beast mode. Since most folks had established partners, I was able to work with him and he took the time to ensure none of us were left behind.
We practiced with group drills around the bags, footwork, endurance and partner drills on the bags, ultimately ending with abs.
One point I really enjoyed is that he was so welcoming to southpaws, as he had initially trained as one in his early days. He also worked with each of us and gave us tips to improve our form, which is very important.
My entire experience was pleasant (except for my legs and breath giving out) and our class size being smaller than the previous really helped. I look forward to going back to The Park Gym in a heartbeat when I'm in town.Helpful 9Thanks 1Love this 11Oh no 0 - Rodney S.San Francisco, CA011May 10, 2023
The first time to park gym I didn't the place existed. The place is nice. The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful. I like the drinks pastries etc. Highly recommend this place. If you join the gym you can get a drink later. My personal favorite is berry beast mode smoothie. Everything is delicious. Time to finish my smoothie.

Years ago I had a membership at the previous location of Park Gym. That membership did not last for long and I started training elsewhere due to issues including but not limited to:
-Schedule rarely adhered to (e.g. gym closing one hour early, gym opening one to two hours late, and classes not running according to schedul)
-Rude, consdescending, and disrespectful staff
-Amenities missing
Despite these issues I decided to do a drop in class here recently since I needed a place to do bag work. No one was available for my inquiries for a long time and then eventually when I was able to schedule my drop in training there was no staff available to check me in. I suppose some things never change.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Julia S.San Francisco, CA0155Aug 30, 2022

I've only come here through ClassPass and so can't speak to the membership/business practices, but I've been satisfied by (most of)** the instructors, class options, and emphasis on technique.
They offer both Boxing Level 1 & 2 classes. I would recommend Level 1 for most to start, especially if your prior boxing experiences has been with commercial boxing gyms (ie. Title Boxing, Rumble, etc.). Park Gym is not like those at all - they truly focus on your technique and form. Classes are usually 50/50 shadow boxing technique and heavy bag work. And no two classes are the same! You still get an amazing workout regardless of your prior boxing experience.
I usually take Mario's classes. He pays great attention to form and footwork.
First-timer tips: Buy or bring your own wraps. Complimentary glove rentals provided if needed. No showers, 2 bathrooms. Parking can be tough.
**There was one instructor who was kinda rude and basically used someone else in the class as an example of "bad form" to another student... I've avoided his class since.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Dan B.Denver, CO1834226373020Dec 29, 2018First to Review
I can already tell this place will improve my boxing. Saturday morning was me 1 on 1 with the instructor. After stretches, jump rope, and shadowboxing was drills drills drills for punch combos & footwork. Then a calisthenics round. Some of the combo chains got complex = more interesting. They were also giving me footwork tips I'd never been told.
Relax & take notes their punch #s are different. You're probably used to:
1 jab
2 straight / cross
3 lead hook
4 rear hook
5 lead uppercut
6 rear uppercut
Park Gym #s are:
1 jab
2 straight / cross
3 lead hook
4 rear uppercut
5 lead uppercut
6 rear hook
So they switch 4 & 6. Fkd me up at first lol.
Big clean place, traditional heavy bags + teardrop water bags coming soon.Helpful 13Thanks 1Love this 15Oh no 1 - Jeff W.San Mateo, CA0554Jul 6, 2020
As we a surge in Covid cases, I just saw an exercise class of seven people in one room sweating and breathing heavily, no mask in sight. And in the front room, two people sparring with boxing gloves, no masks. Incredibly irresponsible!

This review is strictly for the business practices of the gym. I reserved a boxing class via ClassPass, and upon arrival, I along with another woman, were informed that our reservations were not in the system but they would look into it.
After the class began, we were pulled aside and told we could not stay unless we, the customers, resolved he issue with classpass. After questioning why the business owners, who authorized their class to be bookable on classpass, could not sort this out, the only response received was that they barely made any money off of the service, and that because they were a third party the gym had no interest in attempting resolve the issues that were occurring.
While I have no idea whose error it was, the gym's or class pass', the right thing to do would have been to honor the payment we had made, and done their job to resolve the technical issues.
I was looking forward to making this one of my permanent gyms, and have already referred 2 people. Unfortunately it was the most disappointing experience I've ever had with a business in San Francisco, and it led to the only negative review I've written on yelp.Helpful 14Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0
