This is such a cute place in the cute town of Petaluma. We ordered the Clam Chowder Bread Bowl, Calamari and fish tacos.
      The Clam Chowder was delicious!
The Calamari was different than I ever had, it had fried jalapeños and fried radishes along with it. So yummy! The tartar sauce was also delicious.
The fish tacos were so good, fried fish and fresh.
I'm not an oyster fan, but the trays of oysters coming out to other customers looked good and you can tell they are popular here, hence the name Shuckery.
Our waiter was attentive and was giving everyone around us great explanations of the oysters, sauces, and special dishes.
We were driving through on our way back to Sacramento from the Bay Area and decided to stop in Petaluma to hopefully bypass traffic and I'm so glad we stopped.
If you are ever near the area this place is worth the stop.

After hearing great things for a while, my expectations were high when I finally had the chance to dine there.
The food was decent, but it didn't quite live up to the glowing reviews I had read. I found it to be okay, but nothing exceptional. I felt that the menu was quite overpriced for the quality and portion sizes offered. Additionally, the chairs and tables were not very comfortable.
While it was not a bad experience overall, I don't think I'll be rushing back there. It's unfortunate because I had high hopes, but it just didn't quite meet my expectations based on its reputation.

This was my Father's Day Dinner with my bride, my daughter and my granddaughter. I moved to Petaluma abut 6 years ago and I can remember eating alone at the bar while I was looking for a new home. I have been though several iterations of Shuckery (and Luma Bar and Eatery!) since then. I have to say this iteration is great, and this instance was the best meal at Shuckery ever!

I ordered the California white wine blend and it was a first - my wife and I BOTH liked the same white wine! And we just finished celebrating our 54th anniversary.

I started with two each of the top three oysters. I opted out of the one from MX a bit strong with the other 3. I asked the gal that brought over the oysters and asked for her suggestion. She said I'd start with this (it's sweeter) and the the other two (which are similar but not identical) as a first round and then go back the other way for the second round. It's always fun to be helped by someone who is as much an oyster lover as I am, just younger and waaay more knowledgeable!

Then I had one baked oyster with the pepper (my wife had one with the parm). It was kick *ss!

Then two of the fried oysters, and I even got my "no I don't like oysters" granddaughter to try a half of one and she came back for the other half.

Then I had the sautéed scallops. Good as usual. But I still wanted more...

I had an entrée of the clams and mussels and Della's toast all in a great broth with some spinach leaves. Sounds strange but it is GOOOOOD!

We split the two desserts, creme brûlée and mixed berry galette. MMMMM good!

I think that having every course be as great as the previous ones is nigh near impossible, but it happed for me on Father's Day 2024! Thank you Jasmin and staff both from both sides of the house.

Favorite place in petaluma! I've gone here at least 5 times for the mussels and clams and the Caesar salad.

      Updated review

My wife and I went to Petaluma on a Monday to do some shopping. And upon completion of our shopping we were hungry. I was looking on Yelp and many restaurants were closed on Monday Or closing soon. I was pleased to see that The Shuckery was open. So off to The Shuckery we went. Upon entering, it was pretty dead inside. Fine by me, I dislike crowds. I am very thankful the restaurant was open even on a slow night.

My wife and I shared a few dishes.
Baked oysters, prepared three ways. Rockefeller, poblano, and miso butter.
I enjoyed them a lot. My only complaint is the poblano. I would not order that one again. The pickled pepper was too much. It took away from the flavor and focus of the oyster and did not complement it whatsoever. The pepper flavor was too overpowering in my honest opinion.
The Rockefeller and miso butter were both fantastic!

We shared a bowl of clam chowder. And an order of calamari.

      Everything was fantastic!!!

If you are a seafood lover, I highly recommend this restaurant!

Stopped in for a cocktail and stayed for this gorgeous seafood tower. Make a reservation to secure a spot at this sweet little spot. Service with a smile, including great wine recommendations and a little taste before we committed to a full bottle. Put it on the Bu key list when you're in Petaluma!

We stumbled upon this place. Very nice and elegant restaurant. It was very crowded but we were lucky and they sat us at the bar.

The service was nice, friendly, and helpful as we told them we had never been here before.

We arrived before Happy Hour (3pm - 6pm) ended, so we were able to try some of their snacks.

Oysters on the Half Shell: 2 Buck Shuck! Daily selection. Delicious, briny, and slightly sweet.

Baked Oyster: rockafeller; poblano with pickled chilis; bingo; miso butter with tobiko. This was rich, savory, and decadent.

The Shuck Caesar: little gem lettuce, white anchovies, croutons. Mmm... the dressing was creamy and savory. The anchovies were briny, fresh, and meaty. The croutons were nice and crunchy and added to this flavor explosion!

Fish Taco: house tortilla, green salsa, lemon crema, coleslaw. The white fish was flakey and deep-fried. There are a lot of texture and flavors going on in this.

Tony's Fried Oysters: remoulade. The sauce was delicious and a hint of spice.

We had this bread thing which I can't remember. LOL. Picture attached.

      This place slams. HARD!

I've made a trip to Petaluma just to eat here. Like no joke!

Perfectly situated on the corner, tucked into the beautiful Hotel Petaluma, The Shuckery is NOT one of "those" hotel restaurants that only stays in business because of the hotel - this eatery stands on its own merit, hands down!

Our last server was a doll; patient, great recommendations, excellent timing... she truly made the meal even better. I can't say enough about the menu - it's so well balanced and simply offers the best of what the area has to offer.

Fresh selection of oysters, gorgeous towers of seafood, beautifully presented conservas, excellent wine pairings - honestly the experience is top notch from start to finish!

The bathrooms are in the hotel lobby and it's a beautiful view in there! Great patio just adjacent to the bar if you want to have a cocktail after dinner - this place is a WIN!
