The Snug

The Snug is a new go-to for my friends and I! We accidentally found this spot after leaving dinner. We are all so glad we did.

The ambience is very romantic, dim-lighting, candles, good music, and welcoming atmosphere. It is a perfect spot for grabbing quick drinks and enjoying vibes. The staff were all very welcoming and they had someone checking IDs at the door.

We ordered espresso martinis. They were nicely sweetened and actually very tasty. They came out quickly, and our outdoor table had waiter service. They also have bar seating available, and beautiful booths inside. Although, the indoor seating was pretty packed on a Sunday night.

Their menu was extensive and they also have a full bar. I also noticed that they have mocktails for those who don't drink alcohol. I appreciate the diversity in their menu!

Ok, first, I don't drink alcohol. But it was my wife's birthday and we were showing my oldest son around Sacramento and he does enjoy adult beverages, so here we go!

The ambiance is very cozy and intimate, with dim, soft lighting with tasteful accents everywhere and candles on the tables. It took a few moments for our eyes to adjust to the lighting but we were fine after that. The servers quickly greeted us and got us seated, with menus. While we perused the menu, we grooved to the mellow sounds of early 2000s hip hop tunes. THEN, we met one of ROCKSTAR servers, Desi! This guy made the night! My wife also doesn't drink alcohol and we were curious if they had any food (they don't). When he discovered it was my wife's birthday, he got excited and immediately went to make something special for her. He came back with the only food item they have, an "It's It" ice cream sandwich, decorated with mint leaves and candied fruit and A CANDLE! Even in the dim lighting it was beautiful and my wife was thrilled! He also made a mocktail that was similar to a mule, with ginger and lime. It was very tasty! The other servers who came by to check on us were also extremely personable and even consented to star in my impromptu videos with my phone. WHEN you go by, ask for Desi, and tell him you heard about him on Yelp! He will definitely take good care of you!

This place is a vibe. I love a chill lounge with good music that you can enjoy a smooth bourbon or whisky and relax and this place fits the bill. The service is always on point . Some nights it is more of a club atmosphere than lounge so be mindful of the day you plan to attend.

Reasonably priced signature cocktails , great music, and a pleasant environment....what more could a person ask for

Ideal Spot To Pre-Game An Ace-Of-Spades Show

SITREP

The Snug truly is ideally located across the street from the Ace-Of-Spades - one of Sacramento's legit mid-size concert venue spots. Far better prices for drinks than inside the concert venue.

THE SETUP

It seems most concert-goers don't even think of this spot before heading into the Ace-Of-Spades, and I don't know why this is. This is a far better venue to meet up with friends beforehand than The Shady Lady or R15 / Bernardo's, and a really enjoyable speakeasy environment to boot!

Most people, though, probably don't bother to look across the street, PAST Uncle Vito's pizza parlor, and just think that Shady Lady or R15 are "it" since they are on the same side of R Street as Ace-Of-Spades.

DIVINE SPIRITS

Sometimes I drill down on a BASIC Old Fashioned (well, I guess NOT so basic if I have them throw in some Blood Orange Bitters). Other times, though, I'm in the mood for a sassy Espresso Martini. Either way, The Snug really knows how to whet my whistle and I love it!

Great cocktail bar!

This is a former Irish pub that now focuses on craft cocktails. The vibe is great here and I love all of the tiny, cozy spots for sitting. I opted for a table near the door with a view of the front patio area. This place does get busy, so get here early!

I wasn't feeling a craft cocktail at the moment so I went with a vodka martini with a lemon twist. Instead got a gin martini nest with a lemon twist. I told the server about the mistake, but said I'd still drink the gin Martini. Gin isn't my favorite, but martini was still pretty good. I did order another, but with vodka this time.

Before we left, my party ordered a round of shooters. I forget the name, but it had Mezcal and fernet... yowza. Not my favorite drink, but it definitely set the tone for the night!

Desi is THE MAN!! He embodies every attribute that creates the perfect vibe! He greeted us with kindness and professionalism and made our night extraordinary. I have never had a business respond to my birthday with spontaneous celebration! I will always remember this night!

I went here with a friend after we went to escape Sacramento. I would have given it five stars if they had food but they allow you to bring in whatever you get from the outside and eat in there. So that is definitely a plus. The drink menu is pretty awesome and they have local beer as well as their own stuff. And they're their exclusive drinks are pretty dope. We went next door to the taco shop and brought our food in there and Aiden had good conversation. The ambiance is pretty mellow not too packed. It was a nice evening and the staff is super super friendly. I'll definitely be back

One of my favorite bars I have been to! Other than the drinks themselves, I LOVED the ambiance in here. It had a very dark vibe with candles lit. I had to turn my phone flashlight to read the menu so that should tell you how dark it is in here. Super low-key vibe which I enjoyed cause it felt very relaxing and calm. The service in here is also great. Our server kept checking in on us and always had a smile on her face when doing so. Can't wait to return again :)

This place caught my eye on Instagram recently so I decided to take my best friend while she was visiting for pre tattoo drinks. We loved it! A lot of great areas to sit with a cute little patio, bar, booth, and wall seats. They have table service!! The drinks were excellent made by fantastic bartenders who were informative, attentive and so friendly. Look forward to going back soon.
