I go to The Space for small group and one-on-one yoga sessions with Alison. It's a wonderful studio that is centrally located and expertly laid out. Alison and Heberto are detail-oriented and truly passionate about their work and it shows up in the space they have created. The yoga space is warm and welcoming with clean lines and just the right size for small group workshops or one-on-one instruction. The workout/gym side has 2 story glass ceilings that let in tons of natural light and give a great sense of expansiveness.

Anyone who works with these two will be impressed with their skill, professionalism and commitment to their clients.

The Space SF is such an amazing oasis in the middle of the Fillmore, perfect for more intimate and focused workshops. I've attended several small group workshops in the yoga space with Alison and I'm looking forward to signing up for other sessions in the future!

I absolutely love the personalized instruction and insight provided in a smaller group setting. The limited grouping allows for community building while also growing your practice, which is truly extraordinary. My practice at The Space SF and with Alison has allowed me to improve my skill level in activities off the mat, which is a incredible testament to her deep knowledge. Every cue is thoughtful...and beyond the cues Alison teaches her students how to develop a safe, intuitive practice.

What a wonderful space to work with your personal trainer. Esthetically, it's beautiful with mirrored walls and the perfect blue paint and cushioned floor. But the exercise equipment is the real plus: all new and almost excessive in it's variety. An absolutely perfect space to spend an hour with your trainer. Lots of free parking in the adjacent Safeway parking lot. I been around a long time and haven't experienced any gym that comes close.

The Space SF has been cultivated with purpose and vision to create a place of intention, community and endless possibility! It's an urban respite that Alison and Heberto have expertly curated to serve and hold space for practice, possibility and boundlessness.

The private yoga sessions I have with Alison at The Space SF are beyond amazing! There is so much depth to her knowledge of anatomy, physiology, human nature and the teachings of yoga. Her style is approachable, rooted in inquiry and fueled by a sincere desire to bring about positive transformation both on and off the mat.

My practice has been completely changed through my time there as well as through the super customized home practice Alison created for me and my specific needs. I'm a runner and her experience as an athlete and insane amounts of knowledge have changed the way I prepare, perform and prevent... my form is on point, I'm getting faster and nagging aches and pains I've had forever are becoming extinct as my practice progresses.

These two are the real deal and the space they have created is a reflection of that. Regardless of if you're there to get in a sweaty workout session with Heberto or learn to bend so you don't break with Alison, the informed, authentic & insightful guidance you will receive will have you coming back to The Space SF again and again!

I wish I could give The Space SF a 5+

I have worked out at other gyms, health clubs, with personal trainers and physical therapists and this is honestly as good or better than those experiences. What makes The Space so good? The location couldn't be better. There is plenty of parking available in the Safeway lot on Webster just south of Geary and while the building is a bit funky the gym itself is terrific. It is full of light with two story windows, great air conditioning, new equipment and plenty of space. Even the bathrooms are clean and with a number of stalls they are always available. Clearly a gym is more than the facilities and that is true of The Space. Heberto, who owns the gym and is who I work out with, is a gem. In fact I have followed him from the JCC, to Workspace and now to The Space. Last year I had surgery on a bucket on my meniscus. My insurance covered physical therapy and I went to Presidio Sport and Medicine. Although it was covered my insurance fought every charge and I don't blame them - at one point I saw a charge of $400 for the use of a glorified ice machine, similar to the one I had at home. Battling over the bills wasn't worth it. While Heberto isn't a licensed physical therapist and doesn't pretend to be one he understands body mechanics and has been incredibly helpful to me. I have run long distances from the age of 13 to 50+ and I haven't done anything else. Now I need I am getting injured and I need to work on strength training and stretching. I am kind of a mess and for someone who has identified as an athlete all her life this is really discouraging but Heberto is so positive I am seeing results. We can be in the middle of a workout and I will be experiencing pain. Heberto will stop what we are doing, do some body work on me and I am ready to pick up where we left off. He truly has the magic touch.
