First visit, and Chung saved our beloved Oreck vacuum cleaner...it was in need of repair, & we hoped that could be done affordably so we wouldn't need to throw it out & purchase a new one (to the tune of $300-$400). For well under $100 we now have a new vacuum cleaner...it's our old reliable one that Chung gave a new lease on life. You just don't find many people anymore who provide this kind of fair & dependable service. I would recommend him to anybody in need of vacuum repair, he's been in business 30 years, in a shop that's existed since 1939. Keep supporting local businesses, keep fighting planned obsolescence where we can.

The soles on my dress shoes were starting to separate pretty badly, so I was on the lookout cobbler get them fixed. After a little searching, I came across Tip & Top. I came in, let Mr. Kim know what was going on, and he immediately knew what he had to do. He gave me a ticket (don't lose this!) and told me to come back in a week.

Fast forward a week and I return to the shop. The soles were re-glued and nailed down (originally they were just glued), and they were all shined up and looking great. The final cost for everything was $45. I would gladly pay for this quality of work being done, and it definitely beats having to get a new pair of shoes.

One week later, as promised, my shoes were ready. I was warned that they would need some breaking in and that turned out to be true, but it's nice to have my old shoes back.

And he also touched up the faded color on the leather, which I was not expecting, so that was a nice bonus.

Came back again with two other kinds of shoe repair, another leather boot and loafers. Quality is consistently good, reasonably priced, and of course, very fast. You can tell the owner loves the history of shoes as he would often ask me about the ones I'm bringing in, informing me of the types of leather companies tend to use and historical notes regarding shoe designs. Sadly, I don't ever get to hear it all as there are always a string of customers coming in.

I came by to get my Dr Marten leather boots stretched out. I was really concerned that the process would damage the shoes but I was re-assured that it would not and I could pick them within a couple days. I ended up going a week later and I can confirm the shoes were in the same condition with no damage from the process. In terms of the results, I do feel some difference(?) but not as much as I would have expected. I plan to just wear them out and naturally expand them. The owner was really kind though and even offered to bring them back for any free mods if the shoes weren't fitting properly. I paid $27 for the service.

I have been coming here for years and each time I know my shoes were in excellent hands. The owner has been working there for years and his experience and craftsmanship are the reasons why I will make the drive to get my shoes repaired.

I have taken all of my shoes to Mr. Kim for both repair and to add a high quality Italian outer sole to prevent slipping on slippery San Francisco sidewalks. Not only has he done a great job, but he's a great person and a great conversationalist. Mr. Kim is knowledgeable in his trade and is familiar with construction techniques for most high end European, American, and Asian shoe brands. He is honest and will advise when he can save your favorite pair of shoes and what to look for when selecting a pair of shoes that can be repaired (not all can be repaired).
