Tire Choice Auto Service Centers

First, I was immediately struck by how many single stars are here and how it is that the few that are not one star are all four stars - the latter of which seem like pure blah-blah-blah bull hockey. The one star reviews on the other hand seemed much more real....and they almost all evinced the same defect in this operation: High pressure sales tactics.

I'm here to echo all the one stars - after going today for a tire rotation and being told I needed new tires. I certainly needed no new tires. Neither of the two tires on the front had reached the tread depth marker yet...pretty close perhaps, but not one tread depth marker had yet been reached. All in all, plenty of tread left. The two back tires had never been rotated (my bad) so were almost new looking.

When the call came from Goodyear to tell me that I needed not two but FOUR new tires I heard it was b/c it would be "illegal" to rotate the tires. (Later Goodyear admitted it was "company policy" not law I was fighting or up against...) While Goodyear tried to tell me that my tread depth markers had been reached and begun to wear on my two front tires, I kNOW this was not so and confirmed it as fact when I came back to Goodyear to get my car - which was still up on the rack. Further, I was told that my tires were "too old" to be rotated...b/c they're 6 years old or so. I was alsp told that there were some visible cracks in the tires. Yes, it's true...hairline cracks. The tires aren't exactly brand new. But they are not remotely worn out either...not one of them! In fact, the tires in question have served me VERY well all in all.

I'm old enough to know what happened to or befell me today. But even at 50+ I'm not quite so senile yet as to buy into the baloney I was served today on a silver platter. I came home and rotated my own tires no problem. In the process, I discovered I needed to put air in my spare tire. Could I count on the Goodyear boys to do me that favor? I'd like to think so, but it's really hard to give them that kind of credit after the psychic sphincter lube job they tried to give me today. Anyway, by rotating my own tires I got good practice changing flats into the bargain. Always good to brush up there now and again...if only so as to check the inflation on that spare!

Anyway, thank you Goodyear for saving me a few bucks. No thanks for the time you wasted...yours and mine. Best wishes w/ all the little old ladies in Alameda. You'll need to see plenty of them in order to make any $ as the REST of us know better!

Oil change will take a little bit of time but I saw that they were short staffed, though they were very reassuring, got me out the time they said they would and the you can't beat their prices.

I contacted LM at Munro on the East Coast. I have called 8 times and have left 4 messages for LM, one a day at most. No callbacks.

I went to my old mechanic 30 miles away and paid for a replacement tire. I was charged $120 by his business. I told him how much I was charged, and I won't repeat what he said, but he was dismissive of their intent to provide honest customer service. The tire showed very little wear, but it was uneven. He didn't have to remind me why we go to his business. Corporate definitely personifies my experience with their business. Overcharge for crappy service.

Don't go here.

They are very short staffed and having to wait for almost 3 hours for an oil change will cause me to not return. Staff was friendly. Hopefully they will get hired up soon.

This place was great! Stopped in with a flat tire and they repaired it quickly with no issues. Such a convenient location in Alameda too. Five stars!

Awesome service! Called for an appointment to get my tire leak looked at, and they were very accommodating. Got it fix in a fast and professional manner!!

I had a disturbing experience at this Tire Choice location the other day. The workmanship and quality of service was excellent, but I had a problem paying my bill. I skimmed my Goodyear credit card, and the device said "payment approved." But the young Mgr helping me said he didn't get the payment, and I had to skim it again. I did it twice, and he still said he didn't get it. Now, I overheard staff say they were having IT problems and the computer wasn't working. So I refused to continue skimming my credit card. I instead called Goodyear and spoke to a live agent. The agent said the identical charges DID go thru, and appeared on my account. I explained the situation, and Goodyear cancelled the charges. I skimmed my card a third time, and this time it went thru.

If you have a similar experience at this store, make sure to check your credit card account.

Don't waste your time. The manager is extremely disorganized and lies about how long things will take. He asked me to come back first thing in the morning and he would get my oil change done in an hour, or that he'd fit me in first thing if there were others in line, since he couldn't serve me when my appointment was. So I came back before they opened the next day but then was told I'd have to leave my car there all day to get an oil change because they already had 6 people waiting. Don't bother making an online appointment because they don't care about appointments.

I unfortunately have to shift my review based on my most recent experience. I found a screw in my tire and called this tire choice because I had positive experiences before. I guess a lot has shifted in the last year.
I brought my car in early morning and told them I had tire repair coverage. I also asked the representative, Angel, to check my breaks because the were squeaking and I just purchased break pads a few months earlier at this location. He told me they would only check if I purchased an oil change. I reminded him that they changed my break pads just a few months ago and requested that they check them. He typed something in the computer and just stood there saying nothing. I asked if he needed anything else from me and he flatly said "nope." Then I left.
By the time I got to work, Angel called and told me he couldn't reach the company and I would have to pick up my car. I told him I needed the work completed, that I couldn't drive with a screw in my tire. I asked him what number he called for my warranty company. I never heard of the number he told me so I gave him the number I had. Meanwhile, I had actually reached the company twice to verify the coverage.
About an hour later Angel called me again saying he could not reach the company and for me to come get the car. I had no problem reaching them but for some reason he couldn't.
I told him I needed to get the work done and I would pay out of pocket. I also reminded him to check the break pads.
Later that afternoon he called and told me my car was ready. He also recommended a different service for my breaks, which could be the cause of the squeaking.
I arrived to pick up my car and pay for the tire repair. I also asked him to put in writing the service I needed.
I do my best to leave positive reviews but I just can't for this interaction. I feel very frustrated over my experience this time around and I likely won't return to this Tire Choice.
I'm grateful that my warranty company is reimbursing me for the tire repair. And I just verified with them that the other pricy work Angel recommended is covered under my plan. Now I have to look for another company to work on this repair.

Outstanding tire and engine shop. Dropped my car off at 8AM and had it back by 12:30PM. Staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. I am extremely happy with my tires, and my car handles just like it did when it was new. Will definitely use this business again if I ever need tires or alignment work done. Definite 5 star service.

Completely dissatisfying customer service experience.

I made an online appointment (Saturday) and dropped my truck off early in the appointment window. Andrew C took my information and the service details...oil change with synthetic oil, fix two tire that caught nails, adjust air pressure and tire rotation. Got a call about 2pm that the truck was ready for pickup. Got there at 2pm. They had not to rotated the tires. Andrew said they'd get it done in 20 minutes. The car wasn't ready until after 5:30pm.

Andrew, the assistant manager, explained that the shop was understaffed and over worked that day. He then passed the blame onto his manager who he indicated was on vacation. There was no good good excuse for not doing the work properly/completely. Though I empathize with them being overworked, they should have been able to follow company processes and complete and document the work properly. I feel that the company isn't staffing properly for the workload (maybe don't take in too much work) and isn't providing proper training for employees.

I had to remind them to return my lug nut lock key. On the way home, I noticed the tires pressures where all over the place, not to recommended or as indicated on the paperwork. The oil light also hadn't been reset. Now it need to bring it back today to get that taken care of.
