the food was delicious and quick - the service was great. Nice menu and quality very good for cost. Not just a breakfast place anymore!

Cute little place in Lynn Valley that has a vegan breakfast option, a "Vegan Bowl" ($18). I gave it a try with a take-out order. The bowl advertises as having smoked tofu, tomatoes, onions, roasted red peppers, and spinach, topped with a spicy miso gravy, served with potatoes and toast.
Well, this was not exactly what I received. The tofu was soft tofu (definitely not smoked), there were no tomatoes, and the sauce was very minimal -- I would've never guessed a spicy miso gravy was what they were apparently attempting. Moreover, the potatoes did not seem seasoned at all, so my bowl was pretty tasteless. Worst of all, I discovered a piece of what looked like corn beef mixed in - gross and inexcusable for a vegan bowl.
So, pretty sad food, inaccurate compared to what the menu says, and very sloppy kitchen staff such that bits of meat could get into my bowl. Sadly, there's no reason to recommend this place whatsoever. If you're looking for a good breakfast spot not too far away, check out BLVD Bistro instead.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 212773Jun 18, 2024
Starting with the good.
This place is good for a couple beers and poutine, which were the bright spots of our meal. More of a dive. Ceasar was well seasoned.
The Club sandwich was dry and under seasoned, and my dad had the French Dip which was pretty awful. My mom had the quesadilla which was alright, and my sister's and my sister's salmon naan-which was pretty gross too. Server tried her best but struggled a bit.
I hear their breakfast is good, but we came later so maybe it's that menu that leaves so much to be desired.
I would skip, not a great meal.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 19, 2024
This place certainly has an abundance of stars but I'd say the food isn't the reason why. Service is friendly and hats off for remaining so even whilst the place is overrun with customers.
The place has a number of tables suitable for small groups looking for breakfast/brunch. I did like the paintings/murals on the wall which gave something pleasant to look at.
The two things my group had was less than delicious.
Vintage Handmade Pierogies ,- this tasted like microwaved nearly stale pieces. Many were slightly cold which was disappointing. For the price, they could have offered up more sour cream as well. Overall, this was potato heavy and left wondering where the cheese was.
BTLC- this was not a good sandwich at all. There is barely any filling aside from too much tomato. The bread was also barely toasted and so thin! This did not deliver the familiar feeling of eating a good homemade sandwich.
I may come back for breakfast but lunch is a definite pass for me.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 7, 2023Updated review
Went here again and would love to re-recommend it. In an age of popular chain places like OEB, this place is a gem, a hole-in-the-wall. On a very busy Saturday when OEB was completely booked this place had an opening for us.
All the dishes are pretty filling, but I love the bowls in particular. Most of the bowls are similar to the Benedict's - you get stuff with poached eggs and hollandaise on top of home fries. Really yummy. I had the Sinaloa and it was really good. The carnitas was out of this world - chunky, I love the pieces with fatty parts of the pork in particular. Highly recommended.
Wait staff is very friendly too. Great selection with everything and more. Definitely going back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Dec 5, 2021Previous reviewThis place is a gem and my family approves!
I ordered a breakfast bowl, onions, bacon with poached egg and hollandaise on top of bed of hash potatoes. The eggs are amazing - and you can choose easy medium or hard. The ones in my photos are medium. They are just so orange and delicious. The whole thing goes very well together. My kids all had big Kahunas - two pieces of waffles with stuff on the side and they were all very very happy. Definitely get something with poached or basted eggs here. - Jason S.Vancouver, Canada191939Oct 19, 2023
With a friendly staff, Tommy's Cafe is a great place to start your day before going to your activities. The ambiance is relaxing, so you can get lost in a conversation or people-watch. I had the Pouting Potato Bowl, and it was delicious and perfectly prepared. Nonetheless, due to being small, the seating is limited, but this restaurant is worth it.

A great spot for a solid breakfast/brunch.
Tommy's Cafe offers a variety of eggs benedicts, breakfast platters, and other breakfast staples. In addition, the staff is friendly and accommodating. While there is limited seating, it's nice that they have a couple tables outside on the patio for warmer days.
We were all happy with our selections. The smoked salmon eggs benny was cooked nicely, the Big Kahuna was a full plate of fun, and the waffle with strawberries and whipped cream with a side of sausage was perfect for our daughter.
I do have a gripe though. That cutlery is weaksauce. The knives couldn't cut through my english muffin and my fork bent out of shape trying to hold it in place. Seriously considering bringing my own cutlery next time.Helpful 13Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0 - Kath P.Kelowna, Canada51170381Dec 6, 2022
The Yelp reviews were so good for this little cafe in Lynn Valley, I had to go out of my way to try it out. It was worth it! From the cool artwork on the walls to the "neighbourhood" vibes and varied menu, I knew I made a good choice. I ordered the eggs benny and coffee and it was quite yummy. Not sure why there was salad on a breakfast food plate. I don't usually eat the green stuff before noon, but the dressing was good, so I ate it. I recommend this little bit of foodie goodness in North Van.

Heated discussion over medium poached eggs the server continued to focus on. The server continued to tell us that medium eggs are hard boiled. The vibe has changed and not for the better. Been years since we've been there and won't rush back.

This is a little cafe in the area. We stopped by for brunch. Service was friendly. It was a short wait for food, but it was tasty. My salmon benny had the perfect poached egg with a good amount of hollandaise sauce. The potatoes and salad made the meal complete.
