Living on a 1967 trawler, we deal with many specialized contractors. In this case, we needed more than your average residential refrigerator repair person. We have a classic "reefer" in our galley that's driven by a large compressor in our engine room that had stopped running. Our marine engineer had a guess that the problem might be low pressure coolant, but this isn't his area of expertise, so he hoped we'd find a reliable HVAC person, as he's found it hard to find someone to work on these types of systems for the yachts he manages.

Tom was quick to respond, was clear that he only works on commercial style applications, and was available for an appointment early in the week. He called when he was en route, so we had time to be ready.

Tom got right to work assessing the situation, explained his findings, listened when we gave him additional info, and jumped right in to the fix. He popped out the part that needed to be replaced, headed to his distributor, and came back with an exact match, installing it right away. He addressed any questions we had, made quick work of the repair and coolant recharge, itemized the expenses and was on his way.

Tom happened to carry the old school R12 coolant our vintage system required, so he was able to complete the entire repair/recharge in a single afternoon.

We've had a super cold reefer since his visit, and the compressor isn't working nearly as hard to keep up.

If you need someone who can handle a more complex type of installation, especially on a large vessel, Tom fills a very important niche.

I highly recommend Tom's. Excellent communication, very honest, and great service. Will be our new go-to guy for any HVAC issues.

[i thought i'd done a (5*) review of tom's a couple of years ago for a furnace replacement job but apparently it didn't stick...or i screwed up.]

i just had occasion to engage with tom's again, this time to fix a gnawed cable from from furnace to compressor for our ac.

knows his stuff, listened to my info, discussed options & approaches; about the only thing i had to provide was some hot peppers sprinkled to discourage future critters.

Tom showed up on time and was very professional & knowledgeable. You can tell he really cares about the quality of his work and the safety of his customers. I'd recommend him to anyone for HVAC service and repairs.

There's nothing worse than running your AC only to realize.... it's broken!! Thankfully I called Tom and he was able to arrive at my desired time to my home. He inspected my condenser and replaced the broken part right then and there. He was very professional and also gave me helpful tips about good filters to use. Now I am ready for warmer weather now that my AC works again. I highly recommend Tom!

Our central AC unit suddenly stopped working on us during the recent heat wave. We had another 5-Yelp-star-rated company come because they only charged $80 for a diagnostic but we had to wait for 3 days only to receive a laundry list of issues (condenser fan pulling too much power, low refrigerant, rusty evaporator coil possibly causing refrigerant leak) that amounted to either $10k in repairs vs $8k for a new system that they couldn't project a time for installation as units are in short supply (which is true). We asked Tom to come look as a second opinion; he came the same day and informed us that he didn't notice anything wrong with the coils, switched out our capacitor in case it was causing our unit to trip the breaker, topped us off with refrigerant that he had available in his van, and got our A/C operational again in under an hour and a half for under $600. We know who we'll be calling first next time!

After going through a few different companies a friend referred me to Tom and Man I am glad he did! He fit me right into his busy schedule and had my AC unit installed and working perfectly even on short notice! Tom is very knowledgeable about his trade and took the time to explain the job and how to maintain my equipment!

Tom was professional and highly efficient. I called him on a Monday and he came out the next day. He arrived within his window and even gave me a heads-up when he was on his way. His prices are great, he is knowledgeable and gives you different options when deciding what you want to do with your unit. So I knew what was wrong with my unit, how he could fix and pricing and pricing on a change out. My AC works wonderfully and I am a happy camper. Highly recommend Tom!
