Towncar Sf Limousine Service

Cancelled our limo reservation booked months out the day before. Unbelievably terrible service, no apology or reasonable explanation. Book this company if exceptionally poor service and unreliability are unimportant to you.

I booked a stretch limousine with towncar SF five months ahead of my reservation date. The day before my reservation, they email saying that they have no limos available. They gave me no time to find another limo, simply offering an SUV at a nominal discount. When I asked if there was anything else they could do, they offered no apology and simply said I could go somewhere else. Needless to say I'm not surprised that this company has such a low star Yelp rating.

I'm surprised to see the negative reviews on here though I guess those are older reviews and I do not think Claudius is working at the company anymore. I've used them to book for myself and for my boss, for airport to home rides. They're reliable and prompt, which is most important to us. Drivers that we've encountered have been extremely polite and courteous. Cars are clean and well maintained. I would recommend them for nights out too, as they're very familiar with the Bay Area/ Peninsula area!

I cannot say enough great things about this company. Luiz helped me with the details of our day trip to Napa/Sonoma. And our driver, Edmar, pulled up to our hotel a few minutes early and immediately treated us like VIP's. Both gentlemen are very kind, thoughtful, and full of interesting history and great information. Edmar even took us to a beautiful castle we didn't even know existed! Our trip was so relaxing and fun! I highly recommend TownCar SF. Thank you.

It is illegal for limos to pick up street fares (see Tory W.). Taxis are regulated by (and pay fees and taxes to) the city. If you are involved in an accident while on a ride in an illegal limo you will not be covered by his insurance. Cab drivers must undergo a criminal background check (not so with limos). Illegal limos (and out of town cabs) have no means to redress grievances (when you get a street ride from a limo you are party to an illegal enterprise and can't claim you've been ripped off).

The situation in SF is so acute that repeat offenders may have their cars impounded. If the police witness you entering an illegal limo you may have to answer a bunch of questions (best case) or appear in court as a witness (worse case).

If this guy is out there picking up street fares that's all you need to know about his business ethics; and hopefully reviews like this will force him (and his ilk) to toe the line in the future.

Bottom line - Never ride in (or flag) a car not licensed to pick up street fares!

Claudius is a complete jerk and will do anything he can to cheat you for extra money and he'll do it while being un-polite. He completely lacks empathy and understanding of customer service. Claudius is reliable and friendly.

I found his service when booking a limo up to Sonoma with girlfriends. He was organized and the driver was on time. The driver was charismatic, made sure champagne and cheese were in the cooler, the music was on and group pictures were taken. They even worked with us when our day got behind schedule and needed to extend the service.

They gave us coupons for airport service when we got back to the city. I travel about every other week for work, so I decided to give it a try.

Claudius is great, I text or email him my schedule. He is always on time or early, the vehicles always smell great, there is water and mints. Even before a trip overseas, he gave me antibacterial hand gel to bring on the plane!

He is also very flexible and works with my schedule if flights are delayed or changed. And the best part, its affordable , about the same price as a cab from the city to the airport.

I've used Claudius once and almost used him a second time.

The most recent experience, I reserved a limo via phone on Friday afternoon for Sunday. I wasn't using a groupon deal or anything that could make the experience complicated. I was quoted a price of $375 ($400 including tip) for 6 hours of service w/ a stretch limo including taxes and tolls. If I wanted 8 hours it was $450 ($475 including tip). When I emailed Claudius with my pick up address, I also confirmed the pricing. Claudius let me know that the price quoted didn't include tip and blamed it on a miscommunication. He followed up by quoting a specific amount I needed to tip, $80, and that it must be in cash. I wouldn't have missed something that specific during our phone conversation!

I was willing to compromise a little but (ex. take a 7 hour ride), but not willing to increase the overall cost by 17%. I ended up canceling the limo ride at midnight because he was unwilling to compromise. Now my husband is nominated as the designated driver for what was supposed to be a special weekend wine tasting with my father.

Our first experience was OK. The driver was not knowledgable about Napa, at all. When we ran into the Napa marathon causing streets to shut down, we missed several of our appointments and the driver was no help. Instead of helping us call around to places, he sat in drivers seat while we did all of the work. The cabin of the limo was not cleaned during each stop we made (which is standard protocol compared to the other services I have used).

I would never use Claudius again. He is dishonest and his drivers are not impressive.
