Came at around 6:30pm on a Thursday and got seated right away. Food was ready in no time, and I was very, very impressed. In terms of quality, I'd put this in my top 3 of all sushi places I've tried in SF so far.

My favorite was The Boat. It was essentially a 10 piece Omakase with various assortments of Sashimi mixed in. The Sashimi was very high quality; both the tuna and salmon were very fresh and flavorful. The Nigiri was a little less impressive, but still solid nonetheless. The overall presentation was phenomenal. (5/5)

The Yosemite Roll was really solid. Nothing special, but a somewhat unique roll featuring tuna deep fried in tempura and topped with Masago. It's one of the cheaper options on the menu, but was still very tasty and filling. (4/5)

Overall, the interior was very nice and felt authentically Japanese. I loved the decor, and it made the whole eating experience much more enjoyable.

Really enjoyed this place. We had
      - double sake roll. My 12 year old said that was 11 out of 10
      - soft shell crab appetizer 4 stars
      - bento box with beef and sake sashimi

Food came relatively quickly. Recommend it. Only reason not yet 5 stars is I need to come back again and order different things and see if it's just as good.

My family and I were searching for something to eat late around 9PM on a Thursday and this was one of the only restaurants open in the Richmond. We got seated immediately and then they gave us some free cucumbers to munch! I ordered all rolls and I did see other reviews that talked about the freshness of their nigiri so maybe that would've been the better choice & maybe I could've liked this place more.

      We ordered 4 rolls:

      - MAYBE Super Q Roll / Marine Boy Roll (I had a hard time figuring out what I ordered because the photos I took of the food didn't match up with the menu / too many things look similar. Both were baked rolls and just tasted mid because pieces would be falling apart and overkilled with the sauce.
      - SF Giants Roll (3/5 - honestly not sure if this was what we actually got because there were lemon slices on top of the salmon but nowhere on their menu has rolls with lemon slices or I misread ???)
      - Tuxedo Roll / (2/5 - I enjoyed most of this dish but something that they didn't mention from the menu was that they add this mango sauce which ruined the flavor palette of the entire roll; I get having unique sauces are good but there was already spicy sauce and mayo so the mango overpowered everything)

Overall, I feel like they douse their rolls with sauce which killed it for me and each piece would be falling apart: just not a roll place I guess.

We realized that they made our rolls wrong every time lol. Be careful before you eat the rolls and double check that they match the description. Rolls are also tiny, overpriced, and had way too much rice. There was also a roll topped with American cheese that they failed to put in the menu description, which hella confused us.

Toyama Sushi is a great hidden gem in San Francisco! The exterior is simple, but the interior has good cozy vibes. We were craving some good sushi and found this place on Yelp. Service was great, everyone was super friendly and helpful. Chef Dason was truly one of the best sushi chefs I have ever met. He answered our questions and made sure our party was comfortable and enjoying our food. I was super satisfied about the freshness and quality of our fish. Thick, tender cuts of whatever your heart desires at an excellent price. My favorites were salmon and yellowtail! We got a curated set but I'm sure that any fish on the menu would have been great. We got rolls that had the perfect fish-to-rice ratio. The oysters were sweet and refreshing. I really liked the presentation of all the food here too. I would recommend this place to any looking for a solid sushi spot in San Francisco! (: Hope to come here again!!

I'm a little conflicted with this sushi spot, if I could I would probably give this closer to a 3.5/5 but since I can't I'm going to lower to 3/5, let me explain.

We arrived at 5pm when they opened and we had to wait about 15 minutes because the servers weren't in yet. Once we were sat and had some time to look over the menu we started to order and it seemed like a few of the items on the menu that we tried to ordered were no longer being served so they should really update their menus, and when we asked for slight modifications to their rolls since the items we wanted on the menu were discontinued, we were not able to be accommodated.

Eventually we got our food after a pretty lengthy wait 30ish min (which they did complimentary give us some cucumber appetizers for the wait which was greatly appreciated) and it was pretty tasty and the portions were larger than other sushi spots which was great, galaxy roll 4/5, otoro 4/5, and double hamachi 3.5/5.

When we tried to check out and pay we were not able to split the check unfortunately as well so overall will say the service needs a lot of work 2/5, food was good for the portion and price 3.25/5, but will probs not come back.

I am constantly on the look out for good sushi joints in the city and this is one place where I think I will finally hit up again in the future! We got there and were seated right away. The fish/rolls were fresh and reasonably priced which makes me want to return. We also did not have to wait a long time to get our food which is another plus!

Ambience: It's a small nice restaurant but nothing to brag about on ambience like most sushi places.
Service: Service was good, the restaurant was rather empty though when we visited. Staff was nice.
Sauce & food: The chef added this green sauce to everything, not wasabi, some other sauce. It was so unnecessary. And even with double Hamachi roll, keep the sauce to minimum. We love sushi because it's clean, fresh fish. Don't kill it with sauce,
      - Sashimi: we got Hamachi (Yellowtail) & Sake (Salmon) sashimi. Descent sized cuts and fresh fish.
      - Hand-roll: we got Hamachi (Yellowtail) & Sake (Salmon) - our favorite fish Nice & full hand rolls.
      - Double Hamachi roll: it was tasty with our favorite goodies.

Found this spot at 9pm on a Wednesday! They close at midnight! However, kitchen closes at 9:30 for kitchen cooked stuff. Sushi served until 12.

      Let's start with the ambiance!
It's such a cute little hole in the wall sushi spot. I've never noticed it driving by it's super cozy inside. The lights are bamboo lanterns shade. So a nice warm brightness. I like it when I can see my food hehe

The servers were super nice. However there is a bit of a language barrier, but the food speaks for itself! Everything was so delicious and fresh!

Chef was super friendly. We striked up a good convo. He recommended some rolls to us. The portioning of the pieces of fish were hugeeee. They have a in house hamachi Kama. Fresh cut!not case bought like some of most sushi locations. So the portion is also bigger.

For 2 people. We decided on the omakase 13 piece with chawanmushi (steamed egg dish) extreme deliciousness. Sake (salmon), hamachi, and a roll. the presentation and flavor was

I will definitely be coming back! It was so good I even ordered 3 rolls Togo for my sister more rolls to try at home!

I just tried Toyama recently after having it on my bookmarks for a while! I came with a friend to celebrate her birthday and we both ordered the $50 omakase platter. The sushi chef let us know it may take a while, so he suggested to order an appetizer like the hamachi kama. We did end up ordering it and it was a nice starter to tie us over until the omakase was ready (which actually wasn't that long).

The omakase here is worth the wait, with generous cuts of fresh fish with equally delicious toppings like uni, shiso leaf, ikura, etc. I also appreciated that they provided fresh wasabi instead of the gummy textured stuff. My only gripe was that the waitress that delivered our omakase didn't know what each of the fish was.

By the end of our meal we were just chatting and we saw a cockroach on the wall next to us :(... Regardless, the sushi was delicious, but I don't think i'd come out of my way to come back.
