Q:
I live in a rural area where there are Uber drivers however they are not hanging around. Sometimes it's hard to get a ride home I know drivers turn themselves off. Why can't they choose their direction/distance for the last ride? Win- win!

Plusses:
- Black cars are cleaner than cabs
- Always arrive in a very short time
Minuses:
- Black car drivers are only a hair above cabbies in their behavior and hygiene
- I prefer a personal car (Lyft, SideCar) to a black cab. Sort of like a nice public restroom versus the restroom in your friend's house.
- The price! Why would I pay twice what Lyft and SideCar charge? To pretend to be baller (if anyone still thinks black cars are baller and doesn't have 5 business cards from black car drivers touting that they'll take them anywhere in town for $10)
Don't be fooled: Those water bottles aren't free: You're paying double what you would pay on Lyft or Sidecar.
Edit: My last Lyft driver offered me a bottle of water! I've also been offered gum on several occasions, honey sticks, and pastries. Love.
I thought Uber was great until I discovered that I could avoid cabs AND cabbies/drivers AND save money.
And then I moved on.Helpful 11Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - 1218302341Jul 29, 2024
Uber can't count.
When I walk, my watch says 0.25 miles. When Uber shows me, it's 1.00 mile. It seems as though they inflate the distance for me and deflate the distance for the driver.
When there are stop lights and stop signs ahead of my pick up, Uber disregards those and tells me that there are only 1 or 2 minutes.
Apparently, they have no way to signal that a train or other ride disruption is present. The app asks if I'm okay but doesn't give me a way to respond accurately.
The rides have mostly been good. However, I've had drivers drive past the exit or even drive past the pick up location. Other than canceling the ride, there is nothing that can be done.
The bad experiences will hopefully not be repeated.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 21, 2024
Uber provides an important and occasionally good service. On any given day, it could be a 5 star or 1. This is from someone that is approaching 1,000 rides in Uber or Lyft.
The good
Simple local transportation from an app
The bad
Often Dirty cars
Often Loud music
Untrained drivers on professional interaction with riders
Long wait times and frequent no shows
It is a joke that you have to pay for "comfort" to have a reasonable environment. You have to pay for a somewhat clean car, air conditioning and driver who doesn't crank up loud music? I don't.
I had a driver get us into an accident the other day and Uber charged me for a cancelled ride, waited 20 minute on side of road and then charged me double for continuing trip. When Uber's insurance company Liberty called, the agent was very rude, didn't identify properly why she was calling and couldn't care less about my well being.
This is indicative of what Uber is today. Uber used to be marginally better than taxis. It is not anymore.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Wingsdomain ..El Cerrito, CA13183Jul 12, 2024
This is an Uber Eats review. This is the first time I've tried Uber Eats since they deliver from restaurants that my usual go to Grubhub does not. And fwiw, grubhub has always delivered my food promptly, but they don't deliver from this new restaurant I'm trying, which is the only reason why I had to use Uber Eats in the first place. I order food from this restaurant less than a mile away around 6:05pm, the Uber Eats app showed a driver at the restaurant about 10 minutes later. App says the food should be delivered around 6:30pm, no later than 6:45pm. It's almost 6:30pm, the driver/car on the app map is still at the restaurant. Moments later, the app shows a different driver. I said to myself, ok, the food will not get here by 6:30pm as the app said, but should be here no longer than 6:45pm as the app also said. A couple minutes later, the app is now showing yet another driver (3rd). Now I'm getting anxious since this was the 1st time I've ever tried Uber Eats (and again, my previous Grubhub has always been on time so I thought all food deliveries follow the same excellence of experience, not Uber Eats though!). 6:45pm came, the latest the food should arrive according to the Uber Eats app, but the food still hasn't shown up. Then, yet another driver shows up on the app! WOW! SMH! Worried now. But a few minutes later, app saids the driver has picked up the food and will be delivering soon. Relieved, at least my family will still get to eat tonight! Don't count your chicken before it's hatched, my dad always said to me! The driver's car never moved on the app's map. I waited. The car sat there for about 5 minutes, it's now 6:55pm, way past the initial estimated delivery time, and also past the "lastest delivery time" of 6:45pm Uber Eats says (it's now about 50 minutes after I placed the order). Then just a couple minutes later, the Uber Eats app map disappeared and showed that I have not placed any order yet! WHAAA!? Then I searched around the Uber Eats app and found that Uber Eats had CANCELLED my order! WTF!? It's about 7:00pm now, almost an hour after I placed the order, my family is going to STARVE! .....long story short, I went back to my old trusted Grubhub and ordered from one of the restaurants that uses Grubhub, and my order came in about 20 minutes, saved my entire family from certain death from STARVATION!
........Uber Eats didn't charge me for their failed order, but I decided to get online and see if I can contact Uber or Uber Eats to get some answers as to what the problem was that caused my order to be canceled. The only communication I found was the online chat which I did. But after I typed in my initial message to explain the issue and an Uber Eats reply message came back, it became near impossible to type in any further message since the chat window kept refreshing and removed anything I started to type - every few seconds! Was that intentionally programmed into the chat window so customers can't type back? Don't know. But I outsmarted the chat window by typing any further message onto a separate wordpad first then copying and pasting it onto the chat window and sending it off before the dang chat window had a chance to refresh! But then about half way into the chat, I realized I was chatting to a stupid AI bot! LOL! Fool me once with the food order delivery, shame on YOU! .....then rub it in my face with the AI bot even though the Uber Eats contact site says "live chat", and if I was fooled by that, then shame on ME! Uber Eats' tactics and their "live chat" aka "AI bot chat" is simply a 1984 Double Speak! "LIVE CHAT" doesn't mean "live" "human" chat to Uber Eats, it means "live" "chat" with an AI bot, in real time (live=real time)! LOL
Never again with Uber Eats, I'll stick with Grubhub whom has never failed nor deceived me so far.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Karen C.Cambridge, MA02Aug 29, 2024
I had a very important meeting this morning at 10:00 and decided to book
Uber. Thus, I made a reservation for pickup at 9:30 this morning and received a confirmation shortly thereafter. However, the Uber never showed up. I finally called Green cab whose driver arrived promptly. In short, I am extremely unhappy and will never book with Uber again. Fortunately, they did not charge my credit card.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lana C.Costa Mesa, CA1192Aug 17, 2024
Was charged $16.54 for a 7 mile shared ride. Was originally quoted $11.00. Driver took the wrong route/entrance and I ended up walking the rest of the way. This was a big difference in fare.
Uber offer ZERO OPTIONS FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE DIRECTLY. I chose driver took a poor route and the details (if your issue doesn't fall into select categories to be handled automatically, good luck with any problems.) Any company that hides like this when there are as many issues as they can have are merely trying to get as much money from you as possible. They claim they reviewed the receipt and it shows the amount quoted was the same as the charge, which was a lie. Happened a few weeks earlier-a much bigger difference due to an additional 5 minutes of traffic? Was charged an additional $12 after the fact. Will not be using them again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lynne W.San Francisco, CA1091818Jul 5, 2024
three 3 days trying to find a way to get my iPhone back!!!!! The number of the driver (312)625-5499 is not answering and offline. I agreed to pay the $50 she asked for but cannot contact ANYONE online. I think driver lives in Fresno.
You need to have an easier way for people to contact you.
I cannot afford a new iPhone!!! Please help me get it back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Stephanie Y.Asheville, NC0711Aug 14, 2024
I've used Uber many times and the majority of trips have been good. I'm placing this review because for the 1st time they changed my fare without me knowing. Was it the driver or Uber that did it is my question?? I selected the ride of $27.90 and although she took a bad route putting us in bad traffic I tipped her $5 feeling bad for her because she's probably new to the area. I check my credit card statement and it shows the $27.90 charge reversed and a new charge of $39.57 which is not 27.90+5! I go into my app to figure out how to get answers and dispute and it seems Uber can now change fares based on time which is absurd especially when that was the drivers fault and I was not given an opportunity to accept or decline the ride. After I selected the dispute of bad route timing, Uber changed the rate back to the fare I selected $27.90. If Uber is allowed to do this and banking on people not checking their charges, we might as well go back to Taxi so at least we see the rate ticking on the monitor. Anyone else experiencing this? Seems illegal.

I was in Concord and got to the B.A.R.T. station at 6:41a.m. I would have gotten to work at 6:57. Instead of picking me up they drove as close as they could and ducked into the parking garage then drove away.

Lost $333 from a rental I cancelled as a customer around early May 2024
I'm gonna get ready to sue Uber
Now $450
So total $900
Plus hours of talking on the phone, stress, research, driving to these places etc
And now in late June I rented a vehicle to use as a driver and on Hertz side it shows I'm active but on the Uber side it shows still didn't pass requirements and not eligible even though I'm not using my 2005 van but this 2023 rented vehicleHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
