The valet service deserves five stars--if you can find them. The street is cluttered with Amazon trucks, ambulances, people double and triple parked, and the valets are stationed either inside the medical building (how is this helpful?) or against the front door, about 100 feet from the street.

The parking structure is a nightmare! It is often full, but has plenty of "parking available on level 4 and above" signs. There is NO parking. People are driving around through every level, often more than twice, then having to explain to the toll takers that there was no parking. The toll takers shrug and say to try another street. The other street is just another entrance to the same garage!

Every garage, no matter how old and antiquated, has counters, so that a "full" sign is posted once there are only a few remaining spots. Not this one. So aggravating.

Try valet, if you can find it. Or park a few miles away and take Uber or Lyft.

Rapacious behavior. No recourse to lodge a complaint against unfair behavior and charges. They do not answer phones, send you to an e mail site that does not work.

This is the main parking lot at UCSF if you're here to visit the hospital or any of the professional schools. Each hour is $3.50 and you take a ticket on your way in and pay them at either the top floor on your way out into parnassus or the bottom floor exit onto irving.

I must warn you that this parking structure embodies "san francisco" - spiraling circles between two levels, 90% compact spots and a scratch just waiting to happen! So my best advice - drive carefully and be patient!

Also - if you don't like parking here - Valet in front of the ambulatory care building exists 400 parnassus. (it's the same rate $3.50 plus tipping the guys). you can drop off your car up until the early afternoon and pick it up until the late afternoon. Much easier!

*UPDATE October 2014* - apparently they have a massive discount for people who use the fitness center. Which I didn't know about. And that they don't advertise. Go to the gym downstairs, enter via the turnstyle, stamp your ticket using the little stamping device on the counter, exit via the other turnstyle. Plus one star for being like $1 per hour after validation.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled review:

Yes, I'm reviewing another parking garage... Given that it's only two stars, I know you're expecting some kickass story about how my car was broken into and they did nothing about it. Sorry, this is just a tale of shitty architecture that you get to park your car in:
      - These spaces are tiny! Whoever designed this place probably studied in Europe. Tiny spaces are fine if you drive a mini or a fiat, but for the 99% of us who don't you're looking at door dings, dirty clothes from rubbing up against your neighbor's car, shoulder sprains, and spilled coffee...
      - ... all of which might be fine were this place not one of the most expensive garages in the city at $3.50 per hour, even off peak.
      - In another architecture fail, you have to walk through a maze of hallways and elevators to get back to the garage through a pedestrian entrance. Live a little and jaywalk through the auto entrance to save time.

This is for you "where's a good, cheap date location in SF?" thread posters.

Got a HOTT date? Want to take them someplace to "park" but don't want to be too obvious about it? GO HERE! Most Romantic Parking Garage EVER!

      Let me help you out:

      1. Pick up HOTT date.
      2. Tell HOTT date that you're going to take them someplace different for lunch/dinner.
      3. Drive to Millberry Union Garage.
      4. As you descend the ramp, STAY TO THE RIGHT and follow signs for "Small Car Outside Parking."
Note: Large truck and SUV owners: YOU CANNOT PARK HERE! Get your hanky panky elsewhere.
      5. Park and stop briefly to comment on the SPECTACULAR view of The Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge.
      6. Take the world's SLOWEST elevator ever (yes, there are FIVE elevators, however, only ONE will actually stop on this level) up two floors to one of the following dining establishments:
      Courtyard Caffe
      Carmelina's Taqueria
      Moffitt Cafe
      Palio Paninoteca
      Panda Express
      Segafredo
      Subway
      Terzetto Express
NOTE: Palio Paninoteca sounds sufficiently food from a romance language country for a date (please see Mia K's review http://www.yelp.com/biz/CFzCcOdtg7KNAHfp1DRe7Q?hrid=HfGu-J8_If7GcOIycylVDg for further info AND parking tips!). Panda Express and Subway, not so much.
      7. Dine. Be charming. Make EYE contact. Make HAND contact.
      8. Proceed to car.
      9. Stop to comment on the SPECTACULAR view of The Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge.
      10. MAKE YOUR MOVE!!!
      11. Send Hannala M. a "HOT STUFF" compliment on Yelp the next day. I'll also accept "CUTE PIC" but only if your comment is really, really deferential and venerating.

      All for $2.75 per hour!

Note: This parking garage is also very convenient to the UCSF Parnassus Hospital, UCSF Parnassus Clinics and UCSF Medical School - Parnassus Campus. Payment accepted in cash and credit cards.

Your main parking choice for UCSF, and it's directly in front of the hospital at 505 Parnassus. The design at this lot is kinda off-center, with turn spirals which feels like a roller-coaster. It's dark and feels damp, so turn on your headlights immediately. The hourly-rate is $3.50, so about double what you pay for at a parking meter. Feels like a cave for cars.

Regular parking garage structure. Pricing seemed to be competitive for the area, with a $30 max for the day. There was access to two different street levels, which was convenient. The exit on Parnassus was a bit odd, since you need to take an elevator, then go down a hall, up some stairs before reaching the street exit.
