Can I come at 12:01 AM the night of my birthday? I know CA doesn't have a law against this, but I'm assuming bars might have their own policy?

I've been here mini times before. Always had a great time and two of the bartenders are super nice and remember me when I come in. It's hard to beat the view and the ambiance of this bar on Saturday and Friday night.
The reason I give it 3 stars is because last night, the manger there made the whole experience super awkward. We ordered drinks with this bartender who remembered me from the previous times I had gone. He didn't ID me because he had IDed me previous times and remembered me. All of sudden, while he's getting our drinks the manager comes over and loudly yells "did you ID them" the bartender says "no, she's a regular" and then the manager got super mad.
The manager also kept staring at my friend and I and literally came outside to the patio to stare at us and listen to what we were saying. BTW, my friend and I are both 24 and 23 so we're not underage at all. I don't understand why the manager kept staring at us weirdly. If he really thought we weren't 21, then he should've just asked for our IDs in the beginning instead of giving us looks when we already got our drinks lol It made the experience kinda awkward and it was just unnecessary.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Matt K.Santa Cruz, CA12726Jun 24, 20241 check-in
Pros: One of the few places in San Jose that has a real chic night life vibe. People come out dressed like a night club but it's also cool to be casual. All the staff is accommodating. The outside terrace is a great place to chill.
Cons: The premium liquor list is very limited. They could have a much better selection of high end bourbon whisky options. They don't have gluten free beer options, including no ciders available. Because they are open later than the other bars in the area they definitely get the "drunk people" spill over as the evening gets later.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aug 19, 2024
I loved the interior vibe and the pop art decorations inside the bar. It wasn't too hard to get the bartenders attention. Drinks were good, price was fair, and our party of 4 was able to find seating so it was an overall good experience!

I used to come here regularly when I was in grad school, so it brings back memories, taking those elevators up to the third floor of Hotel Valencia. The place is still as lovely as I remember, upscale, with dim red lighting inside and an inviting outdoor space with a beautiful fountain at the center. During my recent visit, the outdoor space was covered and felt like it was heated inside the patio enclosure, a perfect setup during the colder season. There was plenty of seating available throughout on a Sunday night, bar seating, lounge seating, and outdoor seating. It was nice to have options, rather than the weekend crowds I remember.
We got a few cocktails (wild watermelon, raspberry lemon drop, and moscow mule), and they were all made well, tasty and strong... as I'd expect based on the high costs. Service was standard, not super attentive, but good enough. However, they tried to overcharge us $30 extra! Honest mistake, maybe, but I think it's careless, especially for a place that charges $20+ per drink. It was quickly fixed, and we still had a good experience regardless.Helpful 6Thanks 1Love this 11Oh no 0 - 178122927May 6, 2024
V bar has always been my go to when I'm in the area! Great spot for a drink after work or with the gals for a night out. The dim red light is a vibe. I personally love the Santana 75 and Barbados and Blackberry. Such a cute view of the row during the day and with the street lights at night. It does get busy but I've always had great service especially from Eli and Jordy, my drinks are perfect every time.

Rolly is my favorite bouncer of all time. He does his job great and I would give him 10/10 for service. He is able to de escalate situations and make sure everyone gets to their car safe. Thank you Rolly!

Love this bar! Drinks are fabulous here. I always go with friends. The vibe in here is great, but the security is very strict. They will rotate you off of the bar after a certain time and the drinks are on the pricier side. The music can be hit or miss but it's usually good a lot of the times. I love their vanilla bean espresso martini and the lemon drops! They make a mean lychee martini too! Basically it's a vibe here and there's a lot of eye candy to interact with! If you're at the row definitely come here because all the baddies are here!

This bar is becoming a go to spot for my friend and I when we visit Santana row and are in the mood for a pre-dinner drink. Love the red interior lighting and only downside is the bar is pretty small so it can be hard to get a decent seat. Most of their drinks we've tried so far are good, but I think their classic cocktails are better than the fruity/fun ones, but overall love the vibes here!

This is the best lounge on Santana Row and probably in all of San Jose. Usually come in to meet up with a few buddies and then have a few drinks and the night always turn into such a good time. The menu was updated, but I wouldn't know since I order the same negroni all the time. I sometimes switch it up with a Tequila spritz but that's rare. Only shots and Negronis for me.
The inside is very classy and upscale unlike some of the other Lounges in the area. You meet some of the most interesting people at this lounge. Service is always top notch, especially when you have the best bartender in the bay working there. If you ever come through ask for Bruno and he'll take good care of you.
Love this lounge to death, happy that I made it one of my regular drinking spots!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Feb 5, 2024
Very relaxing chill bar with good but pricey drinks and cocktails. Bartenders are great and very knowledgeable. Bouncer is your typical bouncer but DO NOT WEAR A HAT and dress accordingly and yes the will ask you to leave or continue checking on you if you do. Beware of not the staff but some of the customers that come hear some of them are extremely stuck up and rude and they will cause issues happened to us twice coming here.
