Went to Valerie for a brunch! And was the best decision! Omelette was gorgeous and the green salad was perfectly seasoned!
Biscuits were sooooooo delicious!
And ambience was lovely, very art deco!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aug 10, 20241 check-in
We had a great dinner at Valerie! We were seated upstairs and the decor was lovely. The bar was absolutely stunning. All of the food we ordered was delicious and portions were perfect. Hidden gem was the spinach artichoke dip - I couldn't stop eating it! Our server was friend and (mostly) attentive though we seem to did lose him for a little while.
My reason for 4 stars was because I was so disappointed in the cocktails. They had a fantastic menu with so many tasty sounding options, but to our disappointment they were all pre-mixed. I had asked to sub a different spirit in the cocktail (but keep all the rest) and was told that everything was pre-mixed and could not be altered. With such a large clearly stocked bar it was disappointing that the bartender couldn't just suggest to make something similar instead.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Phillip K.San Clemente, CA110Aug 5, 2024
We came here at around 10 PM after seeing a show at Madison Square Garden.
I really liked the ambience of this restaurant. The front of the establishment is pretty noisy where the bar area is, but there is a more quiet sitting area in the back of the restaurant where we were.
What we got:
- Caesar salad: my favorite dish that we got. Good quality lettuce without excessive dressing. The dressing had a nice anchovy flavor note and the Parmesan cheese was finely grated.
- Halibut entrée: This dish was incredibly salty. It was really hard to taste anything aside from the salt, which was overpowering the fish. Would not get again.
- New York strip steak and frites: The cut of meat had a lot of inedible gristle parts and was overcooked when we asked for medium rare. Also would not get again.
The service was not good. Our waitress disappeared after our food was brought. No one ever came back to check in on us to see how the food was or to bring us our check. After waiting a long time, we finally asked a random person who was not our waitress to bring us the check because we wanted to leave.
Overall, I think this place is a bit overrated given it has 4 stars is very pricey.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 24, 20241 check-in
My friends and I came on a weekday evening. We got a nice corner spot, which was still loud but likely better than most other tables for sound.
The menu is on the shorter side. It leans relatively aquatic/seafood.
The gin and tonic happy hour drink was great! What a deal. There were a lot of awesome options, but I had to go for a drink deal.
I'm still dreaming of the octopus salad. It was so fresh and great for the season. I also thought the spinach artichoke dip, which also had mushrooms, was a delight. The pork buns were a little expensive for what they were, I'd say, but they were tasty. There was one vegetable dish we really wanted that was not available, which was disappointing, but the broccolini side was great.
Our waiter was nice and fairly attentive.Helpful 5Thanks 1Love this 4Oh no 0 - Jul 28, 2024
Wow! Valerie is an outstanding cocktail bar with an impressive and spacious layout. The vibes were immaculate and sexy. The drinks were amazing--refreshing, strong, and expertly crafted.
Although we didn't have a full meal since we had reservations elsewhere, we did order the spinach artichoke dip and were absolutely shocked by how good it was. It's probably the best spinach artichoke dip I've ever had!! The service was great, adding to the overall fantastic experience. Valerie is definitely a place worth visiting again and again!!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 4, 2024
I went to Valerie on my recent trip to New York and really enjoyed the happy hour deals that they had. I got a glass of Prosecco and my cousin got a cocktail with Gin. I am a little bit of a Prosecco snob and the taste was perfect. The happy hour food options weren't really for us so we tried a appetizer. It was a Parmesan and prosciutto flatbread, so yummy! The atmosphere is really cute during the time that we were there it was super crowded so a little loud but still a great time.

Two stars one for each item that was solid which was the octopus appetizer and the drinks were decent.
Fast forward to entrees:
Halibut (0/5)
Zero flavor, overcooked. I tasted the fish, sunchoke, asparagus, mushrooms individually together added pepper. Nothing. Fish was so overdone they killed it thrice.
Squid ink pasta with shrimp (3/5)
Decent flavor but everything pasta was overcooked. Pasta soft, shrimp ok sauce good.
Really disappointed at paying the amount we did for no flavor.
Would maybe come for a drink and fries and appetizer. Don't bother with the entrees
Visually lovely. But your tastebuds will feel deceived.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1 - Jun 28, 2024
Made a reservation for a Monday night to take advantage of their HH specials. $1 oysters and great prices for gin based drinks. The oysters were just ok - we only got a dozen since they were small and tasteless. Would not recommend even if it's cheap. We got a side of fries which was hugeeee and loved the truffle flavor. The flatbread was also yummy with burrata on top. Overall, a vibey HH spot if you can get in and like gin based drinks!

What a wonderful experience we had dining at Valerie for brunch! Our server, Isabella, was so lovely and helpful making recommendations on the menu. The inside of this restaurant is art deco - really pretty!
We chose to celebrate Mother's Day early since we would be travelling home on Sunday and didn't want to be rushed through our meal. We followed the recommendations and had an omelet and the short rib on polenta; both were sensational. I was leaning towards the Croque Madame (my usual French breakfast fare) but when it didn't come up on her list, I went with the omelet and was not disappointed. The "hash browns" were triangle patties with whipped potato on the inside and a crispy outside - really a treat (especially for this potato product lover). The short rib was so tender and the sauce really savory.
The bar holds 75 different types of gin, so we went for gin drinks, I for the French 75 (a brunch classic!) and my husband had their version of a bloody mary with gin that was infused with olives - he said it was delicious - served with pickled cauliflower that was an unusual choice.
The biscuits they give you while you wait were incredibly flaky and they serve them with butter and some kind of jam that was clearly freshly made.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 2
