Great to have a local spot with an affordable lunch menu and plates that look like this!
Small low key place easily missed, but now you know.
Lack of crowds and super friendly wait staff rounds out a totally stress free lunch experience

Best Thai restaurant in Walnut Creek. No frills, great food, at a reasonable price. My favorite thing here is their Tom Kha. Order this with a side of rice and you're golden. Their Tom Yum is also a great option.
There are "nicer" looking Thai restaurants in the area, but none of them actually taste as good as this place. Come here for the food and you won't be disappointed.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 27, 2024
Wowowowowow what a gem!! Generous portions, lots of flavor, and fast service all at very reasonable prices. Probably the best Thai food I've had in a long time. The interior isn't too large so Vanda Thai is perfect for takeout/to-go.
Food is great. I got to try their rice, Basil Eggplant w/ chicken, and Basil w/ chicken. All were delicious and the portions were so large that neither my boyfriend nor I were able to finish our entrees. The chicken was tender and they don't skimp on the meat. Regarding the large portions, they pack the to-go containers full of the entree and pack their white rice in a separate box on the side, so the rice doesn't end up taking space in the to-go box.
Our entrees were maybe $13-14 each, which is a steal considering most places in the Bay Area charge upwards of $15-20 for a dinner entree.
The thing I love most about Vanda Thai is their use of Thai chiles. Typically, most places are very conservative with their spicy levels so my boyfriend and I both ordered medium spicy, thinking it would be mild at most. Their medium spicy is actually medium spicy and it was delicious! They also offer extra fish sauce with Thai chiles on the side, which we ate with the steamed rice. For those that don't enjoy spicy food as much, I would definitely recommend going for no or mild spice.
No complaints with service. We ordered to-go over the phone and our food was ready in about 10 min.
Cannot wait to go again!Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Howard S.Lafayette, CAAug 17, 2024
I have taken out food only. The inside is small. The take out has been very good. Ask for spicy if you like to burn your mouth. Medium is enough for me.

A great go-to spot for takeout. The papaya salad and tom yum entree hit the spot. Inside, it's a very causal and relaxed atmosphere. The front of house is friendly and helpful. Overall, a very solid choice for dinner.

The restaurant is small and has a very limited seating. The interior is lacking any of the design touch. Does require some major upgrades. Really appreciate some authentic wall art pictures and canvases of Phuket.
There's only one person taking orders and running the entire place. Sometimes when the phone rings, customer may get unnoticed. Overall service is relatively good, once you get an attention.
Food served timely, however, the quality might use some improvements. Tom Kha was a bit over-salted and came on the lower bottom of a bowl. Fresh roll is all unevenly cut and came in different sizes. Kia noodles were very tasty. Nice, plain, white dishes the food is served on.
Overall a place to try and add to your list.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nov 26, 2023
Ordered takeout from Door Dash, so this is a skewed review for takeout only experience.
This was the best Thai flavor I've had since moving to the Bay. They definitely are cooking for authentic flavor. The prices are some of the most affordable I've seen for Thai nearby, but they don't skimp on the extras- the Basil chicken came with a side of rice, the pad Thai was full of veggies.
The down star is because I asked for very spicy and received zero spice. Will try again when I'm in Walnut Creek and can go in person and ensure my spice needs are met! ;)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - 116540Jan 14, 2024
I just moved to Walnut Creek and really needed to find a good Thai restaurant. I found this place and ordered some green curry with white rice. The eggplant and vegetables were so good! It definitely tasted fresh. The rice portion was a little small but I personally don't eat rice that much.
The service was good. I usually order take out from here. I saw a few people eating when I came in. It's a cozy little restaurant. You can wear your PJ's and dine.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 15, 2023
We've been looking to come here for a few weeks. Vanda is located in a strip mall near Broadway Plaza. There is a roomy parking lot with plenty of spaces. It was pretty early so the place was empty. We received a friendly greeting and were seated quickly. We started with the chicken satay app, then ordered pad Thai, pad see ew, bbq beef, sizzling beef, and ginger chicken. Food came out quickly; portions were large and had lots of flavor. Prices were reasonable as well. We'll definitely be back!

I started ordering food during the pandemic from here and it was delish. Then the cook or ownership changed and the food changed. Seems like there was another change and the food is just amazingly delicious. The Lucas fried rice was a great addition. The fried chicken is full of flavor. The bbq beef ribs are so good and chewy. The ginger rice, I can eat by itself, super delish and not ginger overwhelming. I'm not a tofu eater, but the crispy tofu was pretty good, loved the flavorful peanut sauce !
The restaurant is small, with a pretty Thai ambiance and they have a lot of take out. The service is pretty good too. Our food came out pretty quickly.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1May 11, 2023Previous reviewI'm back as a customer! The food has been delish the last two orders. The delivery was fast! Our food was nice and warm.
Jan 8, 2021Previous reviewOur order was on time. They called us as soon as it was ready for pick up. No issues, food was all good and accurate.
The food was delish! The spicy level is hot some places "spicy" is average. Here their spicy is spicy Thank you
