Wells Pools

We hired Wells Pools to design and build a pool at our new home in the spring of 2022 after hearing they were the best pool builder in the Sacramento area. Our quest for an accomplished can-do contractor came to fruition with Joel Wells. His in-depth design process and his ability to grasp our vision for a "zen-like lap pool" combined with his talent to make a unique pool fit a tiny space was the deciding factor. He was able to understand and interpret our vision and make a dream come to life. This was a challenging build due to the size constraints, structural limitations and very stringent city building department requirements. Based on our memory of a reflection pond's peaceful vibe and our "inspiration pool", Joel and his team excelled at creating our half-lap pool born from a random idea of a tiny backyard with a purpose. Joel was very patient while it took what felt like an eternity shopping for and agreeing on just the right materials and finishes. Even with the delay on our decisions and a three week heat wave that postponed concrete pours, the pool was still finished as we anticipated, as fall began. All these months later, well into winter, it's exactly what we hoped for, maybe better. The technology Wells Pools suggested make day-to-day management a breeze. We are definitely glad we went with the upgrades and the heater too. Wells Pools made our wild, if not wackiest, pool dreams come true. If we build a pool again we will call Wells Pools!

Wells Pools is A+++. Andrew was awesome to work with. They had great communication throughout the entire process. They put our ideas together and built a pool that met those goals and more. If I build another pool I will definitely use them again.

I can't recommend this company enough. They were so professional, so efficient & had incredible workmanship. Their crews all showed up on time, worked long days & modeled the same professionalism as the pool company itself. From demo day to water in our pool was 8 weeks (including some weather delays in there), including almost 2,000sqft of concrete work and stairs. They held our hands through the entire process, adapting to our last minute change requests and modifications with ease and grace. There were no hidden or extra costs, they stayed within our budget and timeline to a T. They exceeded our expectations and I would 100% use them again and recommend them to anyone we know looking for a complete yard & pool build.

Andrew and his team were extremely responsive, professional and did amazing work turning our yard into a great outdoor entertaining space. Highly recommended. So happy with the end result.

I was very clear from the beginning that I wanted a pool that was no more than 4" at any point. A lot of the plans I envisioned changed in communicating with Joel due to pricing, space, etc, but I was always clear that I wanted it to be shallow enough that adults could stand comfortably throughout. At one point, Joel said he thought I'd be unhappy with that. I emphasized that this was about accessibility for my elderly father, and that we're not swimmers but wanted to play volleyball, maybe exercise, I wanted it to be warmer earlier in the season, etc. He tried to persuade me but I was clear on the depth.

I was trying to observe the work process, but I work and don't know anything about pool construction. Finally the plasterer said "that's a really deep pool!" Sure enough, in looking back through my contract it said "up to 9 feet."

I have really liked the salt water system and the swim jet, but I've been waiting (pool was done back in 2020) to see if I would eventually not feel burned by the process. I unfortunately still think they must have been charging by volume and were intent on the depth for that reason. It's that, or worse, he didn't think a single woman knew what she wanted.

I wanted to take some time to write this review, as i highly recommend this company. Owning an in-ground pool has been a lifelong dream, and after some research i settled with Wells Pools in April. From the beginning Andrew was amazing. He was incredibly responsive from Day 1. So as i mentioned, we signed a contract in April, but there were some u foreseen delays through permitting with the city. This was no fault at all to Wells; as they were u foreseen and involved Transmission lines i have running across my property. Once those got resolved, things picked up quickly. They started excavation on June 26th and my pool was completed July 30th. I have colleagues who started a pool build the same time and currently are only partly completed. Wells Pools is amazing. They are fast, efficient, professional, responsive, and do some amazing work. The finished product is beautiful and i am so grateful to Andrew and his team for the above and beyond work they did. If you are looking to have a pool designed and built this is the company for you.

Just got the final inspection done. We are very satisfied with Wells Pool and Dave. We started the design process with Dave, and he kept us in the loop through out the process. All the various tradesmen that were involved were very professional and gave us sense of confidence in what they were doing. The pool came out even nicer than what we had imagined. We are glad and happy we went with Wells Pool.

Andrew, Dave, and the crew at Wells Pools were fantastic! From our very first meeting with Andrew, we knew we had found the company to build our pool. Andrew designed and the crew constructed the pool we had always wanted. Throughout the planning and construction process, Andrew kept us informed of the schedule and quickly responded to our questions. We also appreciated the schedule that was kept without any delays or time lags. Now our family gets to enjoy the many summers to come in our pool. We recently had our pool installed by Wells last November. The experience was so easy and painless. The process was made so simple and transparent throughout. The job from start to finish was only about 7-8 weeks. I can't recommend Wells Pools enough to anyone looking to install a new pool in their backyard.

We began our pool research in the summer of 2022 and as new pool builders we wanted to make sure the decisions we made were researched based decisions. Most importantly, we wanted the builder to understand that the pool was not going to be the center of attention but was meant to compliment the backyard. When we bought our home, it was the backyard, specifically the "English Garden", that stood out. We had four builders provide designs and quotes, but only two really listened to the type of design we wanted. After discussions with all four, we narrowed our search to the one who we felt heard what we were saying. Wells Pools created the pool design we were after.

We signed in December 2022 and waited for the permits to go through. The permit process changed in January 2023, so we had to wait a bit longer than originally expected. This was out of everyone's hands, just part of the process. In early March, the permit was obtained, and then the wet weather moved in. Breaking ground took place on St. Patrick's Day, and we were off to the races. Andrew communicates well, via text. Things move fast, as Andrew told us from the start. There would be days/weeks in a row where we had back-to-back-to-back work being completed. Andrew is detailed and makes sure to give you a head's up as best as possible before work is being done or delayed. Sometimes work crews must stay late or they will finish early at another job and arrive later in the day, so times are variable. Be Flexible! We have spoken to neighbors who said their pool builds took 6-9 months to complete. With Wells Pools our build was completed in 10 weeks, and we lost a few weeks because of weather. Wells has their crews scheduled efficiently.

With a project of this size, there are always going to be issues. Andrew is an honest businessperson and if he says it will get taken care of, it will, in time. There were some "gray area" situations that came up during our project that Wells took care of. As many have said, Andrew will respond to all questions, no matter how many you have, which brings a sense of ease when your backyard looks like a giant mud pit. As a side note, we were very particular about how we wanted this project to turn out, we were very vocal each step of the way, so I am sure we were not the easiest clients to work with.

When it comes to recommending a company for a project of this size, we like to wait until the job is done, let the emotion of the project subside and then ask ourselves, would we hire them again. We are immensely happy with our pool and spa and yes, would highly recommend Wells Pools. In fact, we have provided their information to multiple potential customers to date. As of 02/2024, one of those clients just completed their pool build with Wells.

When we first met Andrew, we showed him our thoughts on the project and asked his professional opinion on how it would turn out. He laughed and said, "Come on, we don't build ugly pools.". His words hold true.
