I contacted West Valley Tree Care based on yelp reviews. Juan scheduled to meet me right away to discuss permitting for the removal of a large redwood tree sitting less that 5 feet from the house. I had met a number of professionals before and Juan was particularly insightful. He said he would produce the 2 reports required by the city of Los Altos - for free if I gave him the removal job ($12K), which I agreed to. So far so good... Then for 3 weeks, I have been texting and leaving voice mails to no avail. Ghosted... A simple "I changed my mind" would have been enough ... Instead I am writing this review...

Juan is very professional and his crew is top notch, they trimmed back trees and oleander bushes on my business property lines which were badly overgrown and did an outstanding job!
They will be back for more business here on the property.

We used them in the past. This time we hired them to remove a huge juniper tree that was planted in 1954. It was planted about a foot from our cement block outer court yard fence. Unfortunately roots of a Juniper tree spread every where. The tree couldn't be saved. The day they came to remove the tree it was pouring rain. There were a few issues related to tree removal. The issues revolved around the clean up. The owner resolved all issues without any questions about my concerns. The owner is very professional. The owner is a certified tree arborist and is very knowledgeable about trees . Not all tree arborist are certified.

6 person team quick work. I had a tree stump 4 feet tall and 4-foot diameter. They chopped it down and wood-chipped it and came back later with a root grinder. however, they only grinded to 18 inches below surface. There were still some large roots.
They also had 2 skilled tree climbers with ropes/harness. able to cut down a huge branch (1 foot diameter) at risk of falling on my house.
Everything was turned to mulch, and they kept it. Probably to resell?

I needed a tree trimmer to help clear the wires in my backyard. West Valley Tree Care was able to accommodate me very quickly at a reasonable price point. Very happy with their work

Juan helped clear a dying 50ft tall redwood tree and replanted four smaller 24 gallon trees. I live in a city that requires a permit to remove any tree and a plan to replant new trees to make up for the missing canopy. Juan helped to apply for the permit as well too.
Taking down the tree and removing the stump only took one day. Juan came around a month later after I finished landscaping to plant the new trees. Even a couple months later, one of the stakes was slanted, Juan came by to replace the stakes to straighten the tree.

West Valley came out to trim our Japanese Maple tree and cut a ficus evergreen from 30 feet to 10 feet. They did a good job on the maple. They did what we asked them to on the ficus. But they did not shape the ficus. So what ever branches were on there from before were left hanging. It looked pretty bad. It took me about 10 minutest to shape it with a trimmer. A few succulents in my yard had a some damage, but that's to be expected. I thought they could have cleaned up a little better as there were a few branches and leaves still around
I know I'm being hard on them with a 3 star rating, but they advertise themselves as a tree service. I would have given them a 4 star if they had at least shaped the tree. A 5 star rating would mean no damage to any surrounding plants or at least replanted the succulents and minimal clean up on my part.
I would hire them again as there was minimal damage to the surrounding plants and the clean up was still pretty good.

Just had a very large oak and elm tree trimmed.
I had multiple estimates, but Juan was much more precise in what branches he was going to trim. It was clear he was an arborist that cared about his customers trees.

The crew was fast and very good. Branches were cut at a correct angle and the tree was sculpted well. I will definitely use them again.

I had 2 trees I wanted removed from my backyard- an olive tree and a cherry blossom tree. West Valley Tree Care was the cheapest of the 6 estimates I got and they were extremely responsive. Edgar came to my house to do look at the trees on a Saturday, sent me the estimate on Monday evening, and they came on that Thursday to remove the trees. They weren't able to use a stump grinder so Edgar brought 5 or 6 workers to remove the trees by hand and finished both trees within 20 minutes. They did a great job and made sure to clean up the branches, stump, roots, and debris. I am very happy with the results and will definitely use them again!

Juan came to the estimation appointment on time. Gave a reasonable price. They removed the tree with all the right equipment. Great service.
