Westcoast Rugs

I drive by this place all the time. I shop in the area and never really bothered to come here.
Then my friend decided to come by and look for some more carpets. They bought from here before and their selection is pretty diverse.
They have machine made, and handmade. Some made with silk woven in, very nice. Lots of different shapes and colours and we found something that we liked. Everything already was half off the listed price.
But my friend the haggler was also dealing the a haggler who knows that he can only go so far, but at the expense of losing a customer?

The owner or store manager seemed very eager to show us the rugs, which in our selection started from $2,000.00. I gasped not realizing that this was within their price range. I couldn't afford it.
He had his staff pull carpets and place aside so we could look at them better. The challenge here was, I was stuck in between as an interpreter which I'm really not good at since I speak neither language!!! End result? The store couldn't meet the price "they" wanted to buy at. We had no time to look as we had an appointment to make and would be late. Tried to explain that it was $2,000 or no deal, we would be back and not to be worried we wouldn't come back.
But he got angry because we had to leave and wouldn't haggle with him more.
Of course I embarrassed my friend cause the store owner was upset that he pulled all those rugs to view and no sale. The result that the owner got upset was that they won't come back for that carpet and the owner lost a sale. Most important it was a repeat customer.

If we had been able to negotiate the price then and there without wasting time, we would have had the carpet (actually two of them but he didn't know about the other one) and he would have had the sale. A happy customer who would've told friends about the place.

I would come back again, if this was what I was looking for. Not meaning to make them sound pushy. They do have good wares and they do have good prices. It was a misunderstanding and language challenges. It's just that we simply didn't have time to waste on haggling. It was a set price, no higher, that was it. We had to go, would've come back, but no cause he got too upset for thinking he lost a sale.....and he did.
