Xicote Cocina Mexicana

So the final checkbox in my book for a great Mexican restaurant is their carnitas. Lots of different styles to choose from but we settled on carnitas quesadillas - huge portions! We split the dish and still had a box to take home. They were absolutely out of this world fantastic.

With the liquor license now in place, of course we had margs (which are also top notch), chips and their homemade salsa. All the dipping sauces for the quesadillas were also home made - fresh and tasty.

Service was again outstanding and our server comped us a tres leches dessert. OMG! It was perfect - not too dry, not too wet.

This isn't just a great Mexican restaurant - it's one of my favorite restaurants in the East Bay. You must check it out!!!!

Craving for an enchilada, while my son wanted carnitas tacos, I poked around Yelp and ran across Xicote (pronounced HEE-coh-tay). Based on reviews, we came here. That day, there was a large street festival here in WC, so there was a lot of foot traffic at the festival, but this restaurant was near empty. Just our luck as we were both starving. I ordered the enchiladas with chicken and green sauce, and my son had 3 carnitas and 1 steak taco. We also got the chips and guac. The guac was delicious (topped off with pomegranate seeds (seeing this for the 1st time), and the chips were thin and crispy.

As for the entrees, my enchiladas were fantastic. The chicken inside was moist and well seasoned. Topped with green tomatillo sauce, sour cream, cheese and avocado slices, it was super tasty combination that just hit right. My son loved his tacos. I got to eat the 4th one as he couldn't finish, and I have to agree that the carnitas was juicy, seasoned perfectly and the homemade tortillas (street taco size) offered a solid vehicle (i.e. didn't fall apart) to deliver the protein bite.

If you haven't tried this place, and crave Mexican, definitely give this place a try. The prices are reasonable and the service is super attentive. Certainly would recommend this place to my friends!

Collectively I give it 6/10 the drinks however were good ! I'd visit again for the drinks and wings only

Pretty good place in downtown Walnut Creek. I had the chicken fajitas. It was a bit saucy for me so I would give it a 7 out of 10z. My wife had the salmon salad. It was tasty and done well. The tacos looked good and this was probably the better choice. The tables are a little cramped. The place is clean and the service was good.

I've been here twice so far and each time have really enjoyed the food. The grilled salmon and the plantains are delicious, the horchata is great too. The pina colada is strong and the service has been pretty great. This will be one of my regular places.

What a great dinner and experience at this restaurant. Outstanding service. The food- possibly the best Mexican food I have ever eaten. Stunning presentation and the taste even better. The food was just so delicious- every bite was exciting. I wanted to write this review about this restaurant since the food and service was so good.

The food was amazing. The nachos and chilaquiles and the beans were so good! You won't be disappointed.

The drinks were delicious! We had a Paloma with Cazadores Reposando and Michelada. But they have a full bar so you can get anything you'd like.

Our waiter, Arturo is amazing!! Super friendly and funny. Definitely a place you should check out with friends or family or just for a bite to eat by yourself.

I recently visited this restaurant to try it out, and while the service was excellent, the food was a mixed experience. The server was really friendly, and the food came out promptly, which was a great start. The drinks were also well-prepared and enjoyable.

We started with the queso fundido, which comes with deep-fried tortillas. Surprisingly, the two paired very well together, creating a unique and tasty combination. However, the esquite was underwhelming and lacked flavor, leaving much to be desired.

For my main dish, I ordered the carne en su jugo, and unfortunately, it was a disappointment. It was literally just onion soup. The dish was overwhelmed by onions--half my bowl was filled with either grilled or raw onions. I might have been served three full onions in my soup, with very little meat or other components to balance it out. This made the dish unappetizing.

Overall, while the service and drinks were great. the food left me disappointed, especially with the carne en su jugo. It felt like the flavors and ingredients could use more balance and attention to detail.

Best best best place to get Chilaquiles
I've tried so many other places and this place is amazing recommend it! For the amazing breakfast they serve here it should be packed so enjoy it while it last before more and more people find out lol Service is great the young ladies working very sweet and the guys are great too.. I can't wait to eat breakfast Chilaquiles on Saturday morning also it's really pretty inside love the art and mirrors very Mexican vibes
