Fantastic sushi at great price. The restaurant is homey and very friendly. They offer a great selection of sushi and other food items. My friends and I all enjoyed the BC roll there. It was crispy, warm, and enticing! Everything we had was delectable and we look forward to coming back next time we are in town!

Run don't walk because YA GO TO GO HERE! Yes I am updating my review because this is one of my favourite sushi joints in Vancouver and since my last review we've gotten so much take out from here it's insane. The scallop roll is beyond and our favourite in the city!
Every time we've ordered Yagoto it's been such a treat, super fresh fish, yummmy rice and beautifully made. I also love how they only pour the miso when you get there for pickup to ensure it's still hot when you get home!
The service is impeccable and I love the man behind the scenes who makes all the sushi, he's so lovely and sweet. Highly recommend this spot! You won't be disappointed.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jul 6, 2021Previous reviewYA-Got-o go here! I'm always on the lookout for another go to sushi spot since there are so many in Vancouver but I won't settle for mediocre sushi anymore so I try to find those hidden gems that aren't talked about enough. Yagoto sushi is one of those places and I'm super happy to highlight this little joint!
My partner and I ordered the party platter (yes just for us) haha we love sushi and placed the order for pickup. A lovely man took our order and it was evident that this same man also made our sushi as he was the only one in the shop when we went to go pick up.
The service was so fast, he whipped up the party tray in 15 minutes and the sushi was fresh and clearly made with care. I like their take on the spicy tuna roll with radish inside for some nice crunchy texture.
I would definitely recommend this little restaurant and really hope they stick around in the neighborhood as I'd love to keep supporting! - Jeffrey W.Vancouver, Canada3205591May 29, 2023
I have been a long time customer at Yagoto Sushi. The first thing to notice is that it is such a cute atmosphere with one chef and one server. It's hard to find such a hole in the wall, family run sushi restaurant. The sushi chef is very authentically Japanese and has great dedication to his craft. All the fish are very fresh and rolls are of great value yet taste wonderful.
A major surprise is the udon that is in a great Dashi broth, and should be tried by most people who enjoy a good udon. Great simple Japanese restaurant with wonderful food.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Emily H.Kitsilano, Vancouver, Canada012Jan 23, 2024
Small place, great sushi by a Japanese sushi master from Osaka. Not a huge menu but everything is always very fresh and uniformly excellent. My favourite sushi joint in Kits. Does take out, no delivery.

I have been meaning to check out this little eatery. Once we walked in but had just missed their lunch hour.
Authentic Japanese sushi, not loaded with intense flavour sauce or too much rice. Had a variety of sushi rolls and miso soup. Love the miso soup, the smoked bonito flavour was evident but not overpowering. The seaweed and tofu were delicious.
Sushi
1) chopped scallop roll - satisfying and it is clean tasting, not loaded with too much sauce which is nice
2) BC roll - skin is nicely bbq and again, lightly drizzled with sauce.
3) negihama roll - fresh and delightful. Just enough chopped green onions
Look forward to my next visit as it is probably my favourite sushi place in this area of Vancouver.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 28, 2019
We yelped for a cheap sushi spot close to Arbutus Club/ Crofton field - and yelp popped up this 4.5 spot. There are a bunch of sushi spots on this two block strip close on Broadway.
We were a group of two adults and three kids. The kids got a mix of Maki, Rolls, and Combos.
Of the things we ordered:
- the Special A Combo was good value and well executed. The dressing on the salad was unique and tasty, the miso soup as a little small but flavourful, and both the BC Roll and the California roll we're good - though I would recommend the BC Roll as it's got a good amount of Salmon meat in it - versus other places that are more about just salmon skin. The two pieces of seared tuna and salmon sashimi was good, and the salmon and evil nigiri also pretty standard. The chicken teriyaki was very plain - lightly seasoned, no skin, and a light soya/ ponzu type sauce, not the typical gelatinous teriyaki sauce.
- The kids said Plain Udon was good. It was very plain looking. Haha. But the kids ate it all up.
- The unagi and prosciutto roll was unique. It was smaller and lighter on prosciutto that i thought it would be.
Overall, the value for the money was good. The rolls are very light and fresh - so I wouldn't say we felt really full at the end of the meal, but the food was tasty.
Service was polite, timely, and accommodating to our kids' allergies. This place is a good "quick value eats" sushi spot.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 15, 2018
A Japanese restaurant ran by Japanese family. Sushi is really fresh and is somewhat limited. When I say limited, it is because there is only one sushi chef. He understands his limits and doesn't take order unless he knows that he has enough time to make it. It is all about quality. I have seen people who walked in and he turned customer down. The place is small and so it is best if you make a reservation.
Food might take awhile to prepare but its totally worth waiting. Super fresh sushi. I highly recommend giving this place a try.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - May 20, 2018
Our plans for lunch got messed up so we decided to go for sushi instead. Never can go wrong with sushi in my books. Scanned for a new spot to try and found Yagoto Sushi Dining. It's located right beside Evelyn's Coffee Shop.
We dropped in 20 minutes before they closed for lunch on a Monday afternoon but they were very accommodating and didn't rush us. It's run by a very gentile Japanese couple. Love the mom and pop shops.
Jazz music was playing on the speakers but the inside is pretty quaint. Small and compact.
They have a lot of lunch specials. Lunch bento boxes, a variety of dons (poke don) and sushi/sashimi/nigiri/udon/chirashi combos. Super reasonable!
The regular menu is short but standard: appetizers, salad, sashimi, grilled, udon noodles, donburi, maki, nigiri and sushi rolls.
- Green tea - complimentary and hot! The waitress was great and refilled our cups several times.
- Nigiri combo ($10.50) - tuna, salmon, ebi, white fish, tuna maki and miso soup. Miso soup was a bit oh the salty side. Nigiri was good quality and fresh. The tuna maki was excellent but a few pieces had some potent wasabi bites. I'm talking it'll clean your sinuses out.
- Chirashi & udon combo ($12.50) - mini chirashi, mini udon and green salad. This was the perfect amount and a great way to try both dishes. The udon broth was sweet and the noodles had a good bite to them. The chirashi had a nice mixture of salmon, tuna, white fish, ebi, tamago and REAL crab. I was impressed. Rice was done properly/correctly.
Another awesome sushi find. Great quality and care taken. Will be back.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - V C.Vancouver, Canada0321Jul 29, 2020
Two days ago, I tried Miyoko Salon the first time. It's good. During conversation with the hair stylist, she knew I like authentic Japanese food so shared with me that the neighbour Japanese restaurant Yagoto is run by Japanese chef so I tried buying a party combo A home for dinner with the family. (Actually, the restaurant is popular and while waiting I see quite some customers coming to pick up their orders and/or waiting outside for their order. Note that it's not fast food and it takes time for the chef to prepare for each customer order one by one. To save your waiting time, better place order by phone first. )
The maki combo was good and I brought my wife and son there the following day to order again at their choice. The sushi are good and authentic. The Japanese chef Yamamoto San is very friendly too.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - G C.Vancouver, Canada0436May 29, 2020Updated review
Reviewed years ago, still so good. Awesome chef, can't wait to see him craft some sushi again.
I like the negitoro the nigiri combo.. always wild salmon which is nice to not have to ask for it..Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Mar 9, 2016Previous reviewMy new go-to, please don't go here. its small, its quaint and the sushi quality is excellent but you're going to ruin it by taking my seat. Remember in Cheers when Norm had to fake a heart attack because someone was in his seat? that will be me if too many people start showing up.
Jokes aside, place is great, if you get the sit close to the chef, watch his fish-handling skills, there's cutting fish and slapping it on rice, then theres artfully crafting sushi.
Now I'm hungry.
