So I have ridden cabs for most of my life. Cabs are kind of a main stay besides public buses. I use them a lot and I still do, but now I have more choices. So before Uber, Lyft, etc, cabs rule the world, and get away with how they treat their customers and now they are trying to act like they are innocent victims. I am not saying that Lyft and Uber are perfect either because they are not, but you know what, I like a little competition. I am glad they are here to disrupt the taxi industry because the taxi cab industry need to treat their customers better. With my recent experience, I don't think they have learned enough yet.

Case in point. I had one incident (pre Lyft, Uber) where I called Desoto (Now they are called Flywheel) and they did not show, so after 30 minutes of waiting, I called Yellow. Then of course, they both showed at the same time. I was going to cancel, but most of the time, if you don't see a cab after 30 minutes, and they don't call you, they won't show anyway.

And the Yellow cab driver got mad at me for calling them and told me to get out of the cab and drove off. Then I went over to Desoto because well they are still parked there, and he took off too. It was 1 or 2 am in the morning, and I was in the Avenues. Thanks a lot! Well, if one of them showed, then I wouldn't have called the competitors, would I?

I was crying my eyes out at this point. More from frustration. Luckily, my friend called me another cab (orange one) and told the dispatch what happened and they sent one ASAP. So I stop using Yellow and Desoto for a while and started using other cab companies.

Fast forward to now. I was recently in a Yellow cab and the driver was acting super suspicious. When I first entered the cab, he asked, "Where are you from?" My reaction instantly was, "None of your business!" but I am not rude (most of the time), I replied, "Here." Most of the time, the convo will end there, but this dude was super curious, and wanted to find out more and not in a good way. Mind you. I have had a lot of these same convos with many cabbies and most of the time, they are up to no good, so I really don't want to tell them much. So he continued, "No, where are you from?" I said, "Here. I am from SF." He said, "Oh!" Then he wanted to know where my parents are from? I didn't say anything. I ignored him. Seriously...WTF

I started checking my emails and then next thing you know, he made a turn. So I was like, okay. That's weird to make a turn there but I guess he thinks this street is better and maybe less traffic or faster. Whatever.

Then, a few blocks later, he made another turn and back toward the street we turned from. I asked him, "Why did you make a turn to go to that other street only to turn back to this street?" He gave me some weak excuse like, oh, this street is better now or something. So I told him, "Don't pull any funny business. I know this city very well and I can call the police." I started taking photos of him and the cab #.

      SILENCE.

Next thing you know, he sped up and drove like a crazy maniac and dropped me off at my destination and gave me back $3 (my total bill was like $17) and said, "Here's your money! I didn't do anything! Okay! You got your money back! You got your money back!" Trust me, the $3 is not the issue. The issue is that he pulled some funny bs and I called him on it and now he freaked out!

Honestly, if I didn't pay attention, he would have taken me all over the place. Like one time where this cab driver picked me up from the Americano Restaurant (Hotel Vitale), and took a turn the opposite way that I wanted to go and I ask him why and he couldn't tell me. And there were legal turns to be made to go the correct direction, so I knew he either a) didn't know where he's going; and/or b) knew and wanted to pull some b.s., so I asked him to pull over and I left his cab and walked back to the Americano and ask the doorman to get me another cab. This is the type of behavior you can expect from maybe 5-10% of the drivers of Cabs. The rest are pretty decent and I actually had fun talking to them over the years, but a few incidents like this really make everyone look bad.

To end this long review...Beware of all drivers and called their B.S. if a driver (from any company) do something suspicious. You don't need to confront them in an angry way, but just let them know you know what's going on. And don't be afraid to use your phone to record their photo and the cab #s and/or record the convo.

I had a wonderful experience with Yellow Cab of SF!!! I had a 6am flight out of SFO and was worried about getting there. As a woman traveling solo, I am wary of taking Uber/Lyft by myself. After reading up on the taxi system in SF and reading numerous 5-star reviews about early morning taxi rides to SFO, I pre-booked a 3:30am taxi ride using the YoTaxi SF app. I am SO glad I did! Barnabas arrived a few minutes before 3:30am, but had no problem waiting for me as I finished checking out of my hotel. He was friendly and ensured the ride to the airport was safe and quick. When my credit card was declined due to the transaction being flagged as fraud (gotta love out of state travel) he called dispatch before running it again to ensure I wasn't charged twice. I will absolutely utilize Yellow Cab of SF's services the next time I am in San Francisco!!

      June 8th 2024,

      *recorded fully on video*

Was driving along highway 101 in the left #1 lane when I had a taxi driver cut me off randomly and nearly make me crash into him, i defensively merged over to the #2 lane and looked over at him and shook my head, I eventually continued and merged back into the #1 lane once it was safe and out of nowhere I look behind me to a yellow taxi van trying to catch up to me faster and faster.

He eventually pulls up beside me and rolls his window down and starts throwing a bunch of objects at my vehicle. He then starts to pretend to try to crash into my car / trying to fly in front of me brake checking me for miles. As soon as I started taking photos and recording he continually tried to make me crash into him even more. Called 911 and reported to CHP and will be filing a police report

      Do not use this company

Yellow Cab San Francisco failed three times to complete my ride request from De Young mesuem my requests were canceled three times leaving us waiting more than one hour even after being connected to a driver who said he was two minutes away,
I called Uber and was picked up five minutes after my request and we were transported in a new Toyota with polite driver who took us to our destination without a hitch. I WILLNOTCALLYELLOWCAB AGAIN
      THEY FAIL TO FOLLOW REQUESTS

If I could keep him at zero, I would but that's not an option. If you don't know the city, they'll take you around the city just to make the fair bigger for them. It's completely unfair. That's why Uber is so much better and robot cars are so so better we need. To get rid of the drivers

      Got ripped off
Two seniors returning from an overseas trip . Pick up at SFO international terminal . Driver seemed up set at having to handle luggage then charged us $12 more than the metered rate supposedly for the luggage which he did not unload at our residence in the outer sunset.
Lyft and Uber are luggage friendly .
Other cab company experiences from SFO were fine
But NO WAY JOSE ever using yellow cab again

On 6/3/2024 at 4:45 PM I booked a Yellow Cab of San Francisco. The driver never showed after assuring me he was 9 minutes away. I waited 20 more minutes and called again but was told to rebook. I called dispatch to complain but was told to shut up or he would hang up on me which he eventually did. I called back and he answered but denied having ever spoken to me but at some point during the call I made him angry and he admitted that he was the Dispatcher that hung up on me and that he would do it again. I told him don't bother and cancelled the ride. He sent one anyway. Worst cab company ever. I will download Uber App.

I normally take Uber or Lyft instead of Taxis in SF. My family of three arrived at 1am on a Sunday morning at SFO and wanted curbside pickup in a SUV to handle four pieces of luggage, a Walker, and two backpacks. Lyft projected cost was $64 and Lyft XL was $103 at 1am. I clicked on the XL and it said I had to walk upstairs and across to the parking structure, are you kidding me? It said curbside initially at that cost and changed to garage. Forget it. That would take another 15 minutes of pushing an elderly person in a stroller with all the luggage to the garage.

What to do? Since we're at arrival, we cross the street and head to the taxi line with no wait. Picked a SUV and headed off to home in the Upper Sunset. The driver didn't need Google Map or anything like the part-time Lyft or Uber drivers, he just just drove off and took the route that we were accustomed to without asking. Cost was $43 pre-tip and he helped with our luggage (I tipped him well and he was happy).

Dang, better than Lyft or Uber part time peeps who don't usually help with luggage and don't know the streets of SF. We were home really fast since the streets were empty.

      Things to think about:
1). Taxi drivers may know the streets better than Uber / Lyft drivers although I know this is a crapshoot since some Lyft Uber drivers are taxi drivers too.
      2) Costs might be cheaper at weird hours where Uber Lyft have premium rates, like during bar closings, while the taxi has set rates.
      3) I've taken Uber / Lyft on airport and cruise port trips, to and from, and don't recall drivers helping with baggage.

Just some things to think about in this technological age where we think App related services are cheaper and more efficient. Not always the case.

Sunday June 11, 2023 at 4:13pm at Westlake Shopping Center this driver ran a stop sign, almost hit my car with my child in it, break checked me & then drove off. The number on the side of this car was 333-3333. I called and the woman on the phone said that the car number K888 was not on file nor in their record. I asked if I can give her the plate number but she said they don't go by those. I also asked to speak with a manager but she said there was not one available. I informed her that I will be calling the police now. It was odd to me that a San Francisco Taxicab was in Daly City.
Since the car is not on their record I will 100% have no choice but to call the Daly City Police Department because now a person is impersonating San Francisco Taxicab which is absolutely not okay. For all I know this could be a trafficker.

      Reckless driver/ taxi driver impersonating
