Right on the border with Chinatown, our speakeasy and tapas bar creates the ultimate intimate mood with classic Asian décor and warm lighting, ideal for whisking your palate into another era, among friends or in the spirit of romance. Is this tapas place 21+?? Can a 20 YO accompany his friends to eat here? (Sorry not accustomed to these places)

    • Q:

      Is there a parking nearby?

      A:

There is street parking. Usually meters, but they all have different times. I found parking fairly easy, and I went around 530/6. Later than that, you'll have a harder time. You can also park in the parking lot on Essex St if you don't mind walking… more

Some of the best food I've tried in the city. The ambiance is nice, good was great, and great service. Recommend 1000/10! The happy together cocktail is top 2 cocktails I've tried

      super great ambiance
      drinks were creative and fun
      service was also super attentive
it gets crowded after a certain time so don't think they'll accept walk ins but came with a group reservation
the portions are a bit small tho so it's not ideal for sharing but flavor of the food was good

      chicken, pork belly, birds nest

The aesthetic of this place was amazing! Super pretty design and really takes you back to a Hong Kong film. I love the lights, and the decor a lot.

Made a reservation and came a little earlier so was seated on high chairs, the space is a little tight but they definitely utilized all their space. While sitting at the table we received no food menu and only had drink menus for a while and a server constantly came over to ask if we were ready to order.

The vibes were amazing here, the food was plated well and the crab fried rice and spicy chicken was my favorite. Definitely felt rushed here and the drinks were super strong. The Szechuan beef was super over fried and was a bit of a disappointment however everything else was good. Would check out for the aesthetic!

      1 check-in

Love this place so much! Came here for my boyfriend's birthday celebration before dinner and since we're big drinkers, here's what I ordered and what I thought:

1.happy together: this was one of my favorites (along with monkey king), sweet, but too sweet and a little sour. I regret not getting another one

      2. Shanghai 75: if you love Apples, this drink is for you. It got a bit overwhelming eventually

      3. HK milk punch: I also liked this drink, but didn't like the whipped cream. It was firm and not at all what I thought it would be. I ended up using the orange peel of my BFs drink to move it aside to get to the actual drink which was the best part. Like a milk tea!

      4. 2046: this drink was okay. I didn't taste anything that stood out to me, but preferred it over the Shanghai

      5. Monkey king: tied for my favorite along with happy together. Love the banana flavor of the drink.

We also got Dan Dan noodles which were so good. We would probably come back here again for the drinks AND for dinner. The service was probably the best I've even seen. Servers were ready to come by once our drinks were empty. Overall, a great place and must try.

Reservations are highly recommended! Came here with dinner with friends while in the area after an event in the area. We had a reservation for 6 people on a week night. Worked up an appetite. Overall service and good were good. Dimly lit so you will need light to read the menu.

Easy to take the subway to the LES to get to Ye's. Order food to share... dishes are tapas portions so easy enough to share to try more.

Plenty of options on the drink menu - order one of their signature cocktails - the group has The Remedy, a few Bird's Nests, Earl Grey Gimlets, Prosecco, Tsing Tao, etc. Everyone enjoyed their beverages.

Foodwise: There are some non-spicy but most are spicy dishes.
Scallion pancakes are good to share, the godmother's chicken wings were delicious.

Enjoyed the night market noodles and singapore duck fried rice.

On the spicier side: fragrant yellow beef, changha spiced chicken, eggplant tempura and garlic beans. All food to share with the table and very filling with the drinks.

      Restrooms in the back...

Love this place!!! The ambiance reminds me of the movie "In the mood for love" and "2046".
We tried 2 cocktails that unfortunately couldn't remember the names but they were delicious.
And for the food we ordered cucumber salad ( love it and I wish I could have the recipe), scallion pancakes, canton shumai, crab fried rice (good and a bit too oily), fisherman's garlic prawns (very delicious). I took bunch of photos, unfortunately the result was good so couldn't share the photos. But I do RECOMMEND this place!!!! Everything was perfect!

We had a fantastic dinner with cocktails here last night, sampling a good amount of things off the menu, and loving all the cocktails we tried. Seriously, their bartenders are amazing, every drink we got was fantastic.

The food was very good, some interesting takes on some classics - getting great balanced flavor into every dish. My favorite was probably the chili fish fillets, a take on the sichuan twice-cooked fish dish -- perfectly executed with high quality whitefish, and nice spice (though not too spicy).

The mango chicken was a big surprise, we got it thinking it might be an elevated take on an Americanized-Chinese dish (maybe it was?) but it was very unique in that it had both slices of mango and Thai Basil in it, giving a really unique taste profile that we all loved. Not sure I've had anything like it, to be honest.

The szechuan beef was also very nice, a little bit sweet (I wouldn't get it without other savory dishes!), but reasonably balanced and certainly balanced when combined with other dishes with a bit more heat and less sweetness.

The marinated cucumbers and puffed tofu were also very solid small plates, though neither blew us away.

Lastly, the ambiance: It's a truly beautiful space. The quality of design that went into this place was breathtaking, you walk in and you feel transported into a high-end speak-easy in Hong Kong or Singapore. The view from inside the space through the beautiful bar area out the window above you is really fantastic.

Ye's Apothecary is worth going out of your way for, I certainly will again.
