Yo bones bbq has delicious burgers and Mac and cheese I think they were a food truck but now they have a storefront on Kingsway that has bbq to go only.
Getting a bbq meat sliders which has 3 mini burgers was a good way to try all 3 burgers at once so you can see which one you like.
In my opinion the bbq pulled pork was the best as I like pork they also have bbq beef brisket and bbq pulled chicken which was my least favourite because it wasn't as smoky as the other two meats and I didn't really like the chicken with the coleslaw inside the sandwich although all 3 sandwiches have coleslaw in them as well.
Then the Mac and cheese with meat where you can choose any of those 3 meats above, again I went with pulled pork because it's more juicy. I like the type of noodle they use to make the Mac and cheese, it really coats the sauce, super saucy Mac and cheese- the best yet even! I like that they put a bit of bbq sauce on top with the huge chunks of meat you get and the amount of noodles I think it's a great portion that tastes so good when you mix it all together.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aug 13, 2021
Had high hopes for this place.....
Let's just say it is alright among Vancouver's few BBQ spots like Re Up and Memphis Blues but pales by comparison to the Texan/Memphis style in the south which it is ultimately try to emulate.
We ordered 1/2 lb of brisket, 1/2 rack of ribs and apple slaw.
Both meats were dry and old. The apple Cole slaw was devoid of any apple. Tasted store bought from Walmart. Charging 4$ for something I probably would not buy.
I understand we are all trying to promote budding food truck business but this was truly underwhelming.
Though we got a 10% discount for take-out as there are not eat in options.
Not recommend it.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Daeyong R.Richmond, Canada23423Oct 7, 2022
We have decided to pick up some pork ribs, beef brisket chili and apple coleslaw.
Wow!!! Talk about disappointing. What happened????
The pork ribs were undercooked and slathered with BBQ sauce to cover up the undercooked pork. The meat is supposed to fall off the bone. The meat was cold and dry.
0 stars out of 5.
The beef brisket chili was better but very pricey. Good flavour and consistency.
2 stars out of 5.
The best was actually the apple coleslaw. Mind you the coleslaw is decent but needs more flavour.
2.5 stars out of 5.
Please make sure the meat is cooked well.
Now I am sad. :(Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 18, 2020
Finally, a delicious and reasonably priced BBQ place in town. By place I really mean takeout kitchen. This place is not sit down.
Parking is available on Tyne as well as Kingsway. If one is quick, one can also park in the alley for a few moments.
The kitchen is not on Kingsway, but in a secret room downstairs in the back. The front is some Chinese travel agency. There is no access from Kingsway. I didn't peek in but I assume it's a big empty room with a BBQ grill and oven.
Guy is friendly and chatty. I think it's a one man show. This guy also has a food truck. He mentioned he's often by either Grandview and Renfrew (by the McDonald's), or by Main and Terminal. Guessing those are for the lunchtime crowd, as this kitchen is open during dinner hours. He mentioned the truck location is on the BC Street Food app. Best to look there if going for lunch, as the location changes day to day.
For dinner takeout from the kitchen there is a 15% discount as of the time of writing. Bonus.
I tried the beef brisket, BBQ pork back ribs, and mac and cheese.
Beef brisket - definitely on the greasy side. I didn't mind personally, but just a heads up. Not as salty as the competition, which is honestly a good thing (most other places use way too much salt). Nice and moist. Served with container of sauce.
BBQ pork back ribs - nice and tender. Precut into blocks 2 ribs at a time, which makes it nice and easy to eat. Special mention. Lightly coated in sauce.
Mac and cheese - swirly pasta instead of conventional macaroni. Once again, taste is just right. Most other places are way too salty. Was a bit clumpy, though I suspect this is because it had cooled down somewhat on the way home.
One thing I really like is that this place doesn't just drench all the meat in sauces by default. Instead, the sauces are in a few small containers on the side, such that I can mix in however much I want. Besides being able to taste the actual BBQ flavours, I can now also save some for my next home meal. Bonus.
Really liking this place. Will be back for more meat fixes. Recommended.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aug 24, 2020
3rd time lucky. I kept seeing the sign on the sidewalk at Tyne and kingsway every time I drove past but did not get to try it due to timing.
When I finally had the time to head over, it was closed the two times I was there. So on my 3rd visit, I literally stalked it. I arrived 10 minutes before the official opening time and just waited in my car till 5 minutes past opening time.
Either I was the first customer after the vacation or I was just very lucky and the owner was kind. I was given more than the 1/2 lb order of beef brisket. Oh what joy! I also had the pit beans which was super delicious! It had peaches in it so it was a bit on the sweet side. I liked it that way. Went very well with the tender and flavorful beef brisket. I like how the bbq sauce was on the side too.
This will be my go to place for brisket and pit beans in future.
Parking is limited though but it should be easy enough to call in a pick up order. Currently there is a 15% discount for pick up. Yay!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Aug 1, 2021
I'm a big BBQ fan. These folks are nice and have a cute clean looking cart.
What I really liked was that there was a good way, unlike many BBQ places, to sample one than one item without breaking the bank. In this case 2 sliders and a side, w. 2 different meats.
Good buns, sauce,.. but the meat needs to be the star of the show in good BBQ and though this was real BBQ, the crunchy bits and true smokey flavour were lacking a bit - I felt they were "semi-legit" for true BBQ but would need to try the non foodcart version and not sanwiches but the 1/2 of meat standalone.
I had brisket and pulled pork.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Teresa T.Richmond, Canada91May 8, 2023
For a luncheon for the office, I ordered the family value meal and just added ribs and sides, etc. EVERYONE loved it, especially the ribs and brisket. We will definitely order (and order more) again soon.

I stumbled upon this food truck at a festival, the line was forever long (I waited 40 minutes to be served), but man it was worth it. I had the pulled chicken and baked beans they were delicious. I wanted to try the pulled pork mac and cheese but they were out of pork and the mac before I got to the front. I only rate this 4 stars because of the fact that the line moved really slowly and they ran out of food, but try it if you see them out!

Ordered their brisket sandwich on Uber Eats for $16. The order didn't take long to arrive (~30 min). However the whole sandwich was completely cold. It wasn't a "got cold during transport" kinda situation. It seemed as if the sandwich had just been removed from a fridge. On top of that the sandwich had way too much bbq sauce. I understand you need to put in bbq sauce but the amount was just excessive. I was starving yet couldn't finish my sandwich. Very disappointed. First and last order from me.

* BBQ Truck that relies on the sauce *
Saw this new truck pop up, and it seems it is being run by the Yo-Bones Catering company. The truck specializes in BBQ offering up pulled brisket, pork and chicken sandwiches with some sides.
I tried out the BBQ Chicken sandwich ($8). The chicken was a bit dry, did not have much smoke flavour at all. The slaw was rather bland and simply added a little bit of moisture. The sandwich relied pretty heavily on the sauce for both moisture and taste. They seem to know this and provide extra bottles of the sauce on the edge of the truck for those that need to add more than they provide.
I'm a BBQ purist. I like my BBQ to not need sauce, and then just have sauce as an extra hint of spice and flavour to taste. But this version required the sauce, and in fact relied on it to carry the sandwich. The chicken itself could have been replaced with something else and it would likely taste exactly the same because the primary flavour profile was the sauce.
Overall, I won't be returning.Helpful 61Thanks 0Love this 50Oh no 0
