The technicians are excellent. Thorough and walked me through what they thought would be helpful to repair my oven. Calling for an appointment was not difficult and they got back to me quickly. The repair my oven needed required parts that had to be ordered. Once they parts came in I was contacted to make the installation appointment. (I was the one who held up the process! A family emergency intervened) I recommend Zuta Appliance Repair completely. Zuta Appliance Repair is now my go-to repair service!

I tried to use my oven on a random Wednesday and it wasn't working. I cook with my oven almost every day, so this was a huge issue. The first thing I did is turn to Yelp to find somebody to fix my oven, so I sent a number of requests out to various vendors on Yelp. Zuta Appliance Repair was the first to respond to my request and was the most responsive to my questions about availability. They were able to come on the weekend at no additional charge (they were actually available earlier but I had a conflict).
The technician texted when he was on his way (as Zuta said he would) and showed up within the time window they provided. I called Zuta at 8:30am on Tuesday, June 3 for a repair to the small oven in my 48" Viking range. They said they had a window from 4-6pm that day so I took it. Darmarea arrived at 2:45pm....what?!?! A technician arrived early? I was thrilled, actually. He came in, opened the oven door, turned the knob, and knew right away it was the ignitor. He asked when we last replaced it. Uh...never? He was shocked...the Viking is 25 years old and he told me it often needs changing every 10 years. He had one on the truck so installed it and boom...done. I then asked him to look with me at how the big oven starts when the small oven is on, as we've had some challenges with that. It still started, but very delayed so I opted to get the 2 ignitions for that oven replaced as well, since they also had never been replaced. He gave me the estimate and told me that he didn't have those on his truck but he'd let the office know & they'd call to schedule an appoint. He was out in 30 minutes.
The office called within the hour to make an appointment for the next day. Yay. Unfortunately, sometime after my appointment, Darmarea sprained his wrist (they didn't know yet if it was a break or sprain). Yikes! So sorry! They wanted to reschedule for the following day, but my schedule was such that I opted for the following week....which is today, Tuesday, Monday, June 10. Our window was 2pm-4pm and he arrived at 3:10pm. He replaced the 2 ignitors in the big oven and was again out within 30 minutes. The ovens work perfectly now. Thank you, thank you Darmarea for your expertise and skill, and thank you Zuta scheduling for being on top of getting appointments scheduled quickly!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

UPDATE: Zuta reached out to me after the below review. We had a productive conversation and they refunded me 100%. The owner was great and I was left with much better confidence in their company.
Unfortunately the repair person mis-diagnosed the problem with our wall oven. He said that the control board needed to be replaced so I paid 50% towards the fix. They called next day and said they couldn't get the part (discontinued) so they refunded me the 50%, but not the 70 dollars for the visit.
This didn't feel right so we called another company and they had a suspicion of what the issue was and they were right, it was a blown thermal fuse. The had spare parts and fixed it on the spot.

I am so pleased with the work Zuta Repair has done for me! A few months ago, my oven would not turn on and I was able to get same-day service , a speedy diagnosis of a wornout igniter, and then immediate replacement. Recently the stove burners needed servicing since they were sluggish to ignite, and again I got quick and effective help. An unlooked-for bonus was that I got tips on how to read the signs that indicate a part is wearing out and how to replace my burner cleaning tool of toothpicks, which can break off and clog the works, with better and equally easy to find at home implements! And I have had two different service technicians, both of whom were courtest, so helpful and extremely competent.

Mark Gonzales came to fix our dryer so quickly and made sure he had all the parts before he arrived. He was able to fix the dryer, clean out and restore all parts and was done so quickly and efficiently. We highly recommend Zuta Appliance Repair!

I called Zuta on a Saturday afternoon and got an appointment for Sunday am. Our dishwasher needed a new part and while he was here at the house he showed me how to clean our ventless dryer. He was fast and very tidy. I thought the service was a good value.

Update to the review: Mark recommended replacing the dishwasher because of the main part being beyond repair. I bought a new dishwasher, now it requires multiple expensive changes in the plumbing. New dishwasher is sitting in the room and waiting to be installed, it can no longer be returned. But the leak stopped and the dishwasher is now working flawlessly. It looks that it was just a loose hose which is now tight after the inspection. Now I have to go through with the replacement of a perfectly working dishwasher, to the tune of $1600. Very disappointed. I gave Mark a very generous tip, I now believe that Zuta needs to reimburse me the entire amount for the bad service.

My dishwasher started leaking water so I contacted Zuta based on the Yelp reviews. Turns out, it was the best choice I could make.
Mark is the BEST! He came the next day, was very professional, honest and gave me excellent consultation on how to extend the life of all my kitchen appliances, not just the dishwasher but also refrigerator and stove. Sad their response to my first review was couched as an apology but was really an apologetic to try to convince other yelpers that it was really my bad and not theirs.
He gives the impression that he had to do the service at a time which "took place after business hours" (quoting him) at my request, perhaps trying to justify the much heftier charge than the quote. However, my request was after 5pm, and their website states explicitly that their business hours are until 6pm. I was simply hoping that they would come before their business hours ended at 6pm. The scheduler was the one who suggested the tech could come between 6 - 8pm. I simply agreed because I thought it was their standard practice and during standard hours. If this was considered after hours with an extra charge, they needed to communicate that clearly.
He did mention the diagnostic fee. However, it's portrayed in a way that the repair will not likely cost more than the diagnostic fee or at least no more than $75 an hour. He claims he attached a pic saying that it was clearly not a quote for the repair, that he "gave no reference to the cost of the repair itself." I couldn't find his pic in the review, so I will just add another, so you can see how deceptive his quote really is. As you can see, it looks like a reference to the cost of the repair, a flat rate, or perhaps at most of $75 an hour. One shouldn't have to assume it is an "estimate" related to the diagnostic fee, since that fee is already explicitly stated as a fee and not an estimate.
To my request to move the stove out to retrieve something I dropped, he says "we cannot ask any technician to move a heavy appliance without prior authorisation (sic) and signed consent. Should the floor have been scratched, or any such unforeseen event have taken place, Zuta Appliance Repair would have been liable." Then simply bring the authorization forms with you, and I would've signed one right there, absolving Zuta of all floor-scratching liability. If that were really the reason, why didn't he tell me then? And why did the PG&E tech move it out a few years ago, when doing a gas leak check, with no problem? Yes, a different entity, but who woulda thunk a quasi-public utility would have a better attitude and customer service?

Dear Lionel, I am saddened to read that you had a poor experience while using our appliance repair services. After thoroughly investigating your feedback, I would like to respond publicly and address several misunderstandings.
I would like to confirm that Zuta Appliance Repair responded to your request to repair a Frigidaire oven on Nov 9th. When you answered the message on Nov 10th, you were scheduled for a same day diagnostic service call, which took place after business hours that same evening. Illustrated in the attachments below, is our initial response to your request. In the message you can see that we quoted you a diagnostic fee of $75, but gave no reference to the cost of the repair itself. Unfortunately, we cannot quote the cost of any appliance repair without first diagnosing the problem. That said, I am sorry that you were under the impression that the repair would cost $75.
I would also like to address your dissatisfaction with the cost of the repair.
I can assure you that you were received a standard quote for a repair of this nature. While time is certainly a factor in quoting the cost of any repair, other factors must also be taken into consideration. Some of these factors include the level of skill needed for the job and the brand of the appliance. If you were to compare our price for this service with similar companies in the area, you will not find any significant discrepancies.
Finally, you mention that the technician did not rise up above and beyond the call of duty to oblige your request to remove the appliance and check for personal belongings. While I understand that this was disappointing, as a company, we cannot ask any technician to move a heavy appliance without prior authorisation and signed consent. Should the floor have been scratched, or any such unforeseen event have taken place, Zuta Appliance Repair would have been liable.
Please know, that our intention was never to be deceptive, overcharge or to ignore your request. In fact, we pride ourselves on exceptional rates of customer satisfaction, and offered you a discount out of a genuine desire to treat you fairly. Our team truly did their best, and we are sorry to know that you remain dissatisfied with our services.

My oven wasn't working. The tech quoted me an estimate of $75 on yelp, but then ended up charging me $332.78! (See pics.) I realize estimates are not precise, but, c'mon, that's over $250 more! Granted the replacement part itself costs almost $100. But then he charged $250 for labor! And it's not like it was a lot of extra, unexpected work because it literally took him only 15 minutes to fix. So it was obviously routine. It also wasn't a rush job since I asked him to come over the next day per his offer. Essentially, I was charged a rate of $1000 an hour for a non-emergency repair! He did offer me a "discount" of $20. I stifled a head-slap laugh by forcing a thank you and fake happy grin.
True, I could've gone to someone else, but then I would've had to pay the diagnostic fee they automatically charge if you don't do the service. Also, I didn't want to delay getting it done and go through the hassle of finding another shop.
I was also disappointed that he didn't help me get something I dropped alongside the oven in the crack. I didn't think it would've been too hard for him to get, but he seemed like he was in a rush to get to another job. He also knew that the oven light wasn't working because he had to bring out his flashlight to check inside, yet he never commented on it nor offered to fix it. He did remove the broken light bulb from its socket, but only after I asked him about it.
Really, I would not recommend Zuta at all. Sure I got my oven fixed. But it was my wallet that ended up getting baked. - Alexei R.Oakland, CA61201Mar 28, 2024
You never want to have to call for appliance repair, but when you do you want to call Zuta! Getting an appointment was easy and fast, and Mark was thorough, super nice and helpful. He even called ahead to check the model number to make sure he'd have the parts he *might* need already in hand. I've got a working dishwasher and maintenance tips to keep it running like new for years to come. Five stars!
