Rosie’s 5-star review: The best just got better! Amy has opened her own location in a sweet solo space that offers pampering, one-on-one attention and super good vibes. Amy has been cutting my hair since the beginning of time, and she's never steered me wrong. Under her care, I've been a curly redhead, a straight blond, a bobbed brunette... and probably plenty of other coifs I've since forgot. Untended, my hair strongly resembles an old squirrel's tail, so transforming it into something pretty takes a seasoned eye and an exceptionally steady hand. Plus, Amy knows her trends and helps keep me current, which I'd never be able to do on my own. As an aside, it's a pure pleasure to spend a few hours a month with Amy. I plan to keep doing it until we're both wearing support hose. And beyond. -

Rosie’s 5-star review: When we had to go through the hardest veterinary appointment there is, we found SF Vet Specialists to be compassionate, professional and patient. Topper needed relief, and our regular vet was not available. We took him to this place, which is clean, airy and welcoming. For some reason, the unique architecture was even comforting. It does feel good that Topper's life ended in a place almost as cool as he was. The most important part for me was that the staff was very kind. And that was everyone, from the desk staff to the techs to the doctor. (I wish I could remember her name, but I was kind of a drippy mess at the time.) But she asked us a lot of questions about our wonderful dog, encouraging us to talk about his life and how great he was, which it turns out we really wanted to do. I kind of felt like she was treating us as well. I did not comparison shop putting my dog to sleep, but I didn't feel overcharged. They also ran the bill for us and brought it back for us to sign so we didn't have to do it at the counter, which I thought was smart in that situation. And when I went in to pick up his ashes later, they were equally polite and comforting. We also brought Topper here for knee surgery a while back and were impressed with them at that time, as well. I think the negative reviews go to show that one or two bad hires can make a business's reputation suffer, and I'm sorry to see that has happened here. But my impressions have been entirely positive, and I recommend them highly. -
Rosie’s 5-star review: Have you ever tried to paint the exterior of your house yourself? We did. Let's just say that was one of the dumbest ideas we ever had. (And that's saying a lot.) Our progress was sloooow. And then it became clear that we weren't going to finish before summer was over... then before the days got shorter... then before the rainy season. Uh-oh. Next thing you know, it's December and we have a partially-painted house. And a big Christmas Eve party planned. The Mr. was taking it in stride, but sadly for him, he married a woman with Martha issues. So there was great discord in the House of W. GREAT DISCORD. We heard about McCartney painting through Cole Hardware's referral service, which we've always had fabulous results with. And so the guys come out, they set it up, and they say they'll be done in time for me to not be a humiliated hostess with a splotchy, unfinished house on Christmas Eve. Then Himself made things hard: it rained. And rained. And to keep their promise, these amazing guys worked through the whole weekend. The Mr. and I were bowled over by their professionalism. Lovely people, beautiful work, reasonable prices. I would recommend them to anyone. Next time, I will not waste any of my valuable weekend time trying to paint my own house. I'll call McCartney's... and the House of W will be the better for it, inside AND out. -
Rosie’s 5-star review: This place is wuhn-dah-FUL. Tomo is just the sweetest lady. Not just to me, also to my dog. When we came back for our second visit, she remembered him and his personality, which to me says she is really paying attention to these dogs. And then we were hooked. In the two years we've been coming here, I've had nothing but great experiences. SF Pet Grooming is completely professional, as well. I have had experiences with supposed 5-star pet groomers who don't return calls and are generally sloppy about their business. Not here. And at the end of the appointment, she gives Topper some treats to take home. I mean, seriously, how adorable can you get? And now Topper smells like a pile of flowers (a welcome change from his previous odor of rancid butt). Three cheers for Tomo! -
Rosie’s 5-star review: I have never had a car detailed before. I view my cars as urban assault vehicles, so I don't like to get too attached to their looks. Better to be sneered at by valets than incite your cousin who just got out of juvie to steal my wheels, or create ambivalence when the time comes for me to drive over a median to get a parking spot. But I was giving my hoopdie to my brother and thought that I should get all my girl smell and coffee film and tobacco lint out before handing it over. This guy was totally professional, very friendly, did a GREAT job and charged half what I had been quoted elsewhere. He even stood out on the sidewalk waiting for me to drive up, so I wouldn't miss it. Seriously, this guy works in the AUTO INDUSTRY? -
Rosie’s 5-star review: Pilates is not cheap. But it does rule. And it's really lovely to get it done in a clean, well-run studio full of informed, warm instructors. This place has cadillacs (which I was shocked to find out are not luxury cars), reformers (which aren't the Inquisition-era torture machines that their name implies), the chair (which is not electric) and lots more. But aside from the fabulous equipment, the instructors are just amazing. Whenever I'm there I feel simultaneously super-mellow and super-productive. I highly recommend this spot and my instructor, Andrea, in particular. If I win the lotto, I'm going to start going every day. -
Rosie’s 5-star review: Friendly, flexible, efficient, affordable, professional, punctual.... I've had the opportunity to use Aldo's Hauling services twice in the last couple of months. And I was really pleased with how he handled both jobs, which were totally different. Three things really stood out for me: 1) He went out of his way to put his truck in the most convenient spot for my neighbors (not necessarily for him). 2) He's insured, bonded and all that jazz, but still manages to provide the most reasonable rates I've found. 3) He SWEPT. Seriously, no wannabe with a pick up can provide what he can. What I found was that those folks actually charge more, because they have to make multiple trips and need to cover the gas and dump fees for each trip. Plus, you better pray they don't fall down your stairs. Aldo's got a fat flatbed with his name and number on the side. Too legit to quit. If you've got junk you need hauled away, I suggest you go pro and call Aldo. -
