Upgrading this spot to 5 stars because it's quickly become one of my favourite hang out spots over the last year. Havana was bought out and renovated by different owners and they turned this place around. Not that it was bad before, but I love this spot even more post-renovation. This is one of my go-to spots on Commercial for brunch, happy hour, and dinner. Why? Their 5-star service and delicious bites. The service has always been top tier and above and beyond everytime I've come in. Special shout out to Greg, John, and Esther, who've always treated us like rockstars everytime I've come in. Must get brunch bites: + Cuban skillet + Croque Señora + Tres Leches French Toast (to die for!!!) + Little Havana Brunch Bowl + Havana Spiced Salmon Gravlax Hash Honestly, I've tried almost everything from their brunch menu and have loved all of them. You can't really go wrong with any of them. Must get happy hour/dinner bites: + Midnight Snack Croquettes + Mussels Espana + Cubano + Latin Burger + Paella Negra + Coconut Curry For happy hour they have $2 off cocktails, $5 wine/beer, and $5 mojitos. They have tacos on special as well. During the summer this is the perfect spot to enjoy bites and drinks on the patio and during the winter, this is a great, dark, cozy spot to again enjoy bites and drinks. Would highly recommend Havana! -

Is. My. Favourite. Jamaican. Restaurant. In. Greater Vancouver. 'Nuff said. Growing up in Toronto, I was spoiled with an abundance of delicious Afro-Caribbean cuisine, but found that there were slim pickings in Vancouver. A friend of mine who grew up in Jamaica recommended PGs and I haven't looked back since. PGs is located in Downtown White Rock. There is limited parking directly out front, however there is plenty of street parking close by. The interior is quite small, with only a few tables, but the decor is bright and tropical. It reminded me of one of those cute beach hut bars in the Caribbean. Their menu consists of authentic, home-cooked style Jamaican cuisine, with popular dishes like jerk chicken, Jamaican patties, marinated oxtail, and roti. I've personally tried their jerk chicken entree which came with coconut infused veggies and rice, as well as an assortment of their Jamaican patties. Their jerk chicken wings are also a great appetizer, jam packed with flavour. Everything I've tried from here has been amazing. The flavours, the spices, the quality... I have zero complaints. Service has always been extremely friendly. I always feel like I'm walking into a friend's home when I come here. If you're looking for authentic Jamaican cuisine, PGs is your place! -

The curry had the right amount of spice. It was hot but not an unbearable hot, it was a savoury hot!! The jerk chicken was no different, the meat was soft and just peeled right off the bone, and the spice was the right amount of kick. This is the place to go to get ready to eat jamaican patties at a really cheap price, from around $3.00 each. The awesome thing is that you can buy a dozen, freeze it, and those days that your not into cooking, you can pop a patty into the oven and it still tastes amazing." - Yelp Elite, Melody M.Issabelle’s 5-star review: I used to live in Toronto when I was a kid and remember my parents always bringing home these delicious, golden, Jamaican patties. I've had such a fond memory of those particular patties that it's been really hard for me to find similar ones that compare. Until now. Enter The Patty Shop. I've heard all the rage about this spot for a few months now but haven't had the opportunity to pay them a visit, until last week. I just happened to be in the area and saw them pop up on Yelp, so I wandered on over. This spot is definitely a pick up and go kinda place. No tables, chairs, anything, but I'm into it. Also, it's cash only and there's no ATM, so come prepared with those paper $$$'s. They have a few different flavours - beef, hot beef, chicken, spinach, vegetarian, pizza and taco. Yup you read those last two right... they do have a pizza and taco flavour - only catch is that those two only come in a frozen bag rather than freshly made. I had a few family members in town who were staying at my place (also big fans of Jamaican patties), so I picked up 2 dozen patties - an assortment of curry, regular beef and hot beef. Wowza, I'm such a fan of all 3 of them. I think next time I'd go for the chicken or spinach instead of the curry though. With other Jamaican patties I've had the meat tasted (almost) artificial, but these ones tasted fresh and perfectly cooked. Plus the dough was perfectly flaky. I'm very excited to come back again to try the pizza and taco patties. Also my belly is very happy that I've found a local Jamaican patty spot to fulfill all my cravings. -
