Ticha’s 5-star review: A Giants fan from L.A. We headed up at 12am and got to SF at 530am. Showered and got to City Hall at 7am. Yeah....7am with the other fans that were already camped out there. 700-230pm...for the 2010 W.S.Champs! Well worth the quick turn-around drive and one-way flight back from Oakland to Burbank on SWA. For the most part...we made some new friends around us. BUT as the day went by..we had these fools that kept trying to get through and walk ahead of us and stand in front of us. SORRY...keep on moving, we were here since 7am. Our views of the players and buses weren't too bad and luckily I had my Canon 70-200mm lens! SF GIANTS...2010 champs!!! And we were there.....SF GIANTS FANS from L.A.!!!!! CON: Couldn't flag down a cab to get back to the hotel for ages. That area around the City Hall was GHETTO! Did eat sandwiches at Lee's. Bring SUNBLOCK and lots of WATER, SNACKS and chairs for the next parade!!! -
Ticha’s 5-star review: We stayed in the Bernal Heights area on our annual trip up to San Francisco from LA and found Tataki by accident after trying another pizza joint one night. Sushi places are a dime a dozen. With Tataki South I was thoroughly impressed with their sustainable fish advertisement! I loved their nigiri and sashimi menu which had all their fish and seafood described (what kind of fish, where it was from, etc.). We ate at the sushi bar and the two sushi chefs (Smitthi and the Chinese guy) were awesome! They helped us with the rolls, dinner menu and fish and even gave us pointers of the Bernal Heights area and talked SF Giants baseball! We hadthe house karaage, kanpachi sushi (awesome), some other rolls, etc., which were all good and delish. Try the Islander roll (filet mignon rare). It was the best roll there and it was suggested by the sushi chefs! Overall good time. Prices aren't cheap but you get what u pay for and the fish was fresh and good (and sustainable)! The restaurant itself is kind of small so expect a short wait for a table during the peak dining hours. There are plenty of metered parking spots and make sure you CURB your wheel if you're parked on a hill or slope!! -
Ticha’s 5-star review: Iconic, fun, crazy, sentimental, a must see if you're ever in San Francisco. Actually came up to visit from LA and had to stop at the Golden Gate Bridge again. I've been here countless times but you can ever say you've been to SF if you didn't visit the GG Bridge. No till going northbound to Marin County. $4 toll coming into San Francisco. They have parking and overflow parking for $5. Read the signage and make sure you do pay to park or else you'll find your car with an expensive parking ticket. My friends and I ran across the bridge today. I ran going NB and pretty much walked and jogged back to the SF side. About 3.5 miles round trip if you run from the new gift shop. The GG Bridge also bolster's a new gift shop. Stop on it and grab some souvenirs or postcards. I love the Golden Gate Bridge! -
Ticha’s 5-star review: Hands down the best Thai food north of the Golden Gate and in Marin. I come from LA...the land of Thai Town Hollywood and I was truly impressed with Orchid's authentic Thai food. The taste compared to my mom's home cooking. Now that's saying a lot. Thinking I was in the boonies of San Anselmo, I was lucky enough to try Orchid! The service is awesome, their young servers are very attentive considering they were super busy. The owner even came out to our table to check up on us. Apparently Orchid's been here for a very long time. They have a lot of regulars and they know their customers by name. Food check...appetizers are good. The main dinners are awesome...half chicken in curry and veggies, sea bass with chinese style soy sauce marinate, and pad thai are just a few. Don't forget to order yourself a Singha Thai beer with your fresh Thai food too. I'll definitely be back for more Thai before I head back to LA. GO SF GIANTS! :) -
Ticha’s 5-star review: Never had an issue with Alamo. I always use Alamo on my trip up to SF (OAK) for my weekend trips to see the Giants. Flying into Oakland Airport is so much easier than SFO. Alamo is reasonable (cheap), the counter is quick, customer service is good (never had an issue) and picking up and dropping off the rental car is a snap. This last trip we even got a free upgrade to a full size courtesy of the Alamo usher standing outside. They take my airline mileage # as well. Will use Alamo again on my next trip up to the Bay Area. -

Ticha’s 5-star review: If you love a Ghiradelli sundae or hot chocolate at your local store, at AT&T Park, from the market....you'll LOVE the original from the Ghiradelli shop here in SF. It is a must stop for touristy folks looking to buy chocolate souvenirs, a good stop on a warm day in SF for hot fudge chocolate sundaes and a great stop for a hot cup of hot chocolate on a cold, foggy SF day. Kid you not, the hot chocolate is to die for. The BEST OF THE BEST of hot chocolates! Rich, creamy, sweet, and chocolaty! The building validates for stopping in as well, and there's street parking. -
Ticha’s 5-star review: Searched high and low for a nice steakhouse in SF and narrowed it down to a couple then chose Alexander's. 5 outta 5, unlike my SF Giants this weekend who got swept by the Reds, Alexander's scored big time in my carnivorous books! We made reservations through Open Table. They were kind enough to change our reservations 3x since we couldn't make it home from Golden Gate Bridge in time to get ready (Pride Weekend traffic). We got seated right away and were met by out delightful waitress (Mahoney?). She was awesome. Never pushed us to order, never pushed us to hurry nor was she a snob (as Alexander's was a high end steakhouse). She was total down to earth. Bring your wallet as the steaks are priced pretty high but worth it. The medium rare ribeye steak I had was delicious! Cooked to perfectness! The Mac n Cheese was good but the Marble Potatoes were off the hook! A must to order with your steak!! Order the Marble Potatoes! Even though we were too full to order any desserts, Mahoney dropped off two new dessert forks and told us to hold on as she was going to bring us some goodies: a hazelnut chocolate sponge cake (a small bite's worth) and a big cherry cotton candy with some small green tea bites! Perfect ending to a nice dinner! Thanks Alexander's for your service, atmosphere, steak and dessert. Btw...look for street parking or valet parking. -
Ticha’s 5-star review: Yelp find! Yes...went to Napa just to say I've finally been to Napa. No, I didn't visit any wineries but did visit Main Street Napa (which was okay). As we walked around for a bit and ate, I Yelped wine tasting and John Anthony (JA as I will call it), popped up. High ratings and reviews and opened late on a Sunday (1000pm). Score!!! I had my son with me and they cute lady who helped us with the wine tasting said it was no problem for him to join us inside (but not for wines of course). JA was awesome. The interior was nice, the service was awesome (I didn't catch the gal's name but she was working Sunday night, 2/15), the wines were good and I think the wine tasting flights were affordable as well. $15 for 3 flights and more if you do the other samplings. I ended up getting a bottle of their Sauvignon Blanc after the tasting so they comp'ed the wine tasting and I just paid for the bottle (I think that's typical when you wine taste). All in all a great time for me even though we never made it out to a winery. The service is legit here as well as the wine. Check it out! Ticha’s 5-star review: THANKS DUGOUT!!!! You stayed open after your posted 5pm time. The traffic was so so bad trying to get to the stadium Dugout location from Fisherman's. We made it there at 510pm and they still had a line queued up to get in. The line did move quickly and smooth. Great job staff and management! NOTE TO ALL: DON'T BUY THE W.S. GEAR OUTSIDE WITH THE PORTABLE "OFFICIAL" W.S. GEAR SHOPS! The official merchandise outside was priced HIGHER than the Dugout. At least $5-10 more than inside the store. I frequent this Dugout location everytime I come up to SF for the games from L.A. for my official SF GIANTS gear (to wear in L.A.). They have just about everything you need for a SOCAL fan like me when the BLUE stuff runs a muck down south. BUT last night, they ran out of the black W.S. champs t-shirts and only had the grey ones! NOT OK!!!! But I got my jersey and cap with the 2010 W.S. patches on them though. Thanks for staying open later. I would of been bummed to fly back to Burbank empty handed. Another SF Giants jersey to add to my arsenal for the upcoming visits to Dodgers Stadium to root for my GIANTS!!! Go GIANTS in 2011! See you in a few months Dugout! -

Ticha’s 5-star review: I never sat in the club level (usually bleacher creature seats for us). Being from L.A...I had to come up and grab myself a Panda bbhead this past weekend! But was the club level nice!!! Comparing everything to that stupid stadium down south (Think Blue)...this place blows that stadium out of the water literally off McCovey's Cove! Gotta love the condiment section....you don't just have ketchup and mustard....but everything else is included!!! See picture for detail. The ushers were nice, the restrooms were clean, the atmosphere was awesome. And the Giants won 2-0 that night versus the Cardinals!!! LOVE IT! One negative comment to AT&T Park. They need to do something about the lines for special event nights like that night. The lines were so long that it wrappped and went on forever. We got in the Willie Mays line and that line went on forever. Luckily they didn't run out of bobbleheads! I would of been pissed coming up from L.A.!!! -
Ticha’s 5-star review: When you use top grade ribeye beef for your Philly cheesesteaks and good local California beef pattiesfor your cheeseburgers and also white American cheese...you're 5-stars in my books! The owner was in and chatted with us for a bit even though Metro was a bit busy with local walk in togo patrons. Thanks to Yelp once again for giving Metro high ratings. We walked over from the Haight/Ashbury residents and truly enjoyed Metro's service, burgers, TOTS and fries. Metro is a local neighborhood burger joint that you must try if you're in the area. -
Ticha’s 5-star review: When you're in a high tourist area...you'll be lucky to find an actually pretty good Thai restaurant. King of Thai Noodle House scores some good eats. When you walk in, you'll be waiting for a table but not for long. Quick turn around tables, food comes out quickly and there's a ton of wait staffers inside to serve your needs. The Pad See Ew was pretty good. Don't let the name fool you (NOODLE HOUSE). They have a lot of rice dishes also. Thanks to King for making my special request....Thai fried chicken over garlic rice (Kao Mun Gai Tod). I'd pick King over the other Thai restaurant down the street anytime (the other one by the steak place). -
Ticha’s 4-star review: I haven't flown out of OAK airport in years. Seems like they've fixed this airport up a bit..or no? I guess OAK Airport would compare to SNA or BUR in that they're smaller and less crowded than SFO or LAX. I checked in with SWA and got through TSA with just a carry-on bag in about 15 mins. WOW!!!! No complaints here! Maybe because it was a Wednesday night?? Had a good experience minus the lady that couldn't stop talking on the flight on SWA from OAK-BUR (i was trying to sleep on my 1 hour and 10 min flight). Management..please please..instead of an OAKLAND Raiders store...maybe you can bring in a SF Giants store!!! -
Ticha’s 4-star review: Mensho Tokyo is my must have when I come up to catch the Giants in San Francisco. Almost a tradition that I come in for dinner after an afternoon game. The area is sketchy, I hate that you have to stand in line with all the locals of the Tenderloin coming up to you and asking for change and food. I think Mensho has the best ramen around. I also understand that there will always be a wait since the restaurant itself is small (fire marshal notice says 49 or so). So that's not the problem. I knocked off 1 start from their perfect rating because tonight's Shio ramen my friend ordered was pretty much bad. I always go with the flavorful Tori Paitan which is delicious but after trying my friend's Shio, Mensho dropped in ratings a bit. I also found out that they don't have togo boxes. My friend didn't finish the Shio but couldn't take it home. There was tons of ramen left! :( Sorry...you were rated too honors in my books for a couple of years until tonight. I'd definitely be back to stand in line again for your Tori Paitan! -
Ticha’s 4-star review: Good Dim Sum all around. Yelped a close Dim Sum place coming from the Oakland Airport to Emeryville and got East Ocean off Yelp. They're busy during lunch but the restaurant is pretty big. We were seated right away. Order your Dim Sum on the check list rather than from the carts. Har Gow (shrimp dumplings), Siu Mai (pork/shrimp dumplings), were both good. Bean Curd wrapped ground pork, steamed Chinese Broccoli, beef noodles, yummy. You must order the fried Green Tea balls with custard. So good and was the highlight of our lunch! The dim sum isn't cheap here, a dollar or two more than your average dim sum restaurants. Loved it though! -
Ticha’s 4-star review: We did a turnaround trip from Los Angeles to SF for the Band Together benefit concert. Was originally going to eat at another Italian restaurant but settled for Italian Homemade Co instead because it was much more affordable. Very easy. Walk in, order and take a seat. The food is authentic, the pasta is homemade, the sauces are delicious! We ordered two pasta plates and a salad and it was plenty of food for two people. I don't remember the names of the pasta plates but I had the fettuccine with the mixed sauce (red and white) which came with homemade meatballs. Also had the burrata salad which was burrata with cherry tomatoes and arugula leaves. Look for street metered parking. Credit cards okay. Italian Homemade Co sells homemade pasta by the pound as well. Quick and easy, authentic and delicious pasta! -
Ticha’s 4-star review: Landing at Oakland Airport...I found Belly on a whim while looking for lunch. Yelpers sold me on Belly with their awesome pictures. Lunch lines are long during the peak hours...order first and then find a seat. No saving seats please. Go to Belly for their Asian fusion tacos and burritos. They have awesome fusion! A couple of burger options, different craft beers and appetizers. I had 3 tacos: steak and eggs, shrimp (Tempura fried), and pork Belly. I liked the tacos in that order! Each taco ranges from $3.50 to $4.00. A good dining experience, would have never found Belly on my own...thanks Yelp! -
Ticha’s 4-star review: An awesome stay! The hotel boasts nice rooms, good internet, spacious amenities, nice gym, nice free breakfast in the morning (yes, decent), and great service and close to the freeway. Literally right off the freeway. Also...don't forget the bay/water views as well. There's a walking/running trail right outside the hotel. My only gripe was the parking situation at the BW. They do have a nice parking lot, but it's shared with another hotel. During the day, the parking is plenty, but if you come back in the evening/late night, there's literally NO parking spots left. You can't park on the street either. Other than the parking situation, everything else was awesome, you had me at 5-stars but minus 1 because of the parking. I had a tough time finding parking after returning from the Giants baseball games and touring the city. BTW...my double queen bed room was nice. Very roomy, a partial bay and freeway view (windows were thick enough to keep out the noise), the bathroom was nice (a shower, bathtub and enclosed toilet), fridge, microwave, cable TV, etc. The hotel is about 10-15 minutes from OAK Airport and 30-45 minutes (depending on the traffic), into downtown SF. -

Ticha’s 4-star review: Momo's. Any Giants baseball fan's favorite stop when catching a game at AT&T Park. Right across from the park itself. Good for libations before the game. Beers run from $7-$9 and mixed drinks run $12-$14. The food isn't bad either. The cheese burger with the awesome fries are good, my meatloaf with the broccoli and mashed potatoes was good as well. Drinks pour nonstop. Drink and eat inside or check out their outdoor patio with bartender, standing room and some bar tables and chairs. Tons of baseball fans having a great time. A good stop to grab some drinks before, during and after a Giants game! The service isn't too shabby and the bouncers are always cool (especially if you're in your orange and black)! -
Ticha’s 4-star review: Sweet neighborhood dinner. If you didn't use Yelp, you would never find Doyle St Cafe! Being from LA, staying in Emeryville, I found the cafe off Yelp! Perfect place for brunch. Even on a Sunday morning, we didn't wait too long. The cafe isn't big so you figured a wait for a table, but there were quick turnarounds with the crowd. Good brunch like I mentioned earlier. My California Benedict (crab cakes) was yummy. Big chunks of crab cakes and a rich yummy hollandaise sauce. The buckwheat pancakes were pretty good (but I rather the buttermilk). Good service. Find neighborhood parking. -
Ticha’s 4-star review: Fresh gelatos and coffee. Nice view of the river (too bad the water level was a bit low). The staff is friendly and they have 2-3 people waiting to serve you! Great! Good location! Indoor and outdoor seating. Kid friendly as well. Had a good dessert experience after our Napa lunch. If you go later in the evening, they might run out of your favorite gelato flavors. -
Ticha’s 4-star review: Take out review: Pretty authentic in my books coming from Thai Town, Hollywood. R'Noh is decent. A friend of a friend lives in Larkspur and orders take out from them all the time. We had take out and got Pad Thai (I thought it was a bit too salty though, but it was good), the chicken eggplant was awesome, and panang curry was good. The brown rice is also good. I'd recommend R'Noh's for the 'burbs of Larkspur! -
Ticha’s 4-star review: First meal of my latest SF trip was Brenda's. I had this French Soul food bistro bookmarked for quite some time now. I can cross Brenda's off my list. 3.5 stars rounding up! I am being a bit generous. I may have ordered the wrong items off their breakfast menu. - Plain Beignets were soft and tasty (with the powdered sugar). The beignets did not hold any of the oil and were delicious. - Hangtown Fry (house favorite), was ok. The oyster was a but overpowering but the eggs and bacons calmed the taste. Man was the biscuit rock hard (meh). - Crispy Pork Belly (house favorite), was ok as well. The pork belly itself was pork fat melt in your mouth perfection....but the soupy cheddar grits was just ok. Kinda a miss. - Community Coffee with chicory was delicious! We ended up waiting about 20 minutes. Good luck with the street parking as well. I can say I've tried Brenda's and checked them off my bookmark list. -
Ticha’s 4-star review: Good shaved ice and coffee. Fast free wifi. Our green tea shaved ice was yummy. Lots of ice, ice cream, red bean, almond and some other stuff. My caramel latte was good as well. Open late and a good stop for some tasty shaved ice. We didn't order the waffles but it smelled awesome. -
Ticha’s 4-star review: The pastries here are good but I don't think it's worth the wait in line though. 6K Yelpers can't be wrong. I had a tough, very tough time finding parking Sunday afternoon. The park nearby had a gazillion people, there were tons of people walking around so there were no street parking anywhere. Luckily I had my friend go down and get the pastries. The wait time in line was about 35 minutes. Chocolate Croissant was good and super flakey. The chocolate was rich. The Frangipane Tart was super good and sweet. Recommend. Even though we got the pastries in a box, it was good. The line was a bit too long though. Try their orange ice coffee. -
Ticha’s 4-star review: Yelp'ed me another restaurant! 2000+ reviews can't be wrong. We were looking for an Italian restaurant in the city (City by the Bay) and found Zero Zero. Zero Zero is a flour the restaurant uses so they happily named it Zero Zero in honor. The place is a upscale Italian restaurant with great food!!! First off...good luck finding parking. There was construction so it seemed like it was harder to find street parking (even on a Sunday for brunch). I'm sure you'll be able to find a private paid parking lot...if not, look for street parking and don't leave valuables laying around. I'd recommend a reservation if you have a big party. The restaurant has two floors but will get super busy. Great décor, design, large paintings (look for the Pinocchio with snorting the cocaine mural...jk....it just looks like it). Our server was very knowable and very attentive. Something great restaurants always have. PIZZA...OH YESS!!! Flatbread, unique toppings and names and great taste!!! I loved their veggie "Market" pizza..no meat, all veggies and great tasting. The pasta with the duck (Cappellitti) was good as well (but very rich). Good luck to those who don't like duck...don't order it. My friends and I had a great time at Zero Zero for Sunday brunch. Fantasic Italian! A great place to bring a date or bring your friends/family.

Ticha’s 4-star review: Good stuff. Bernal Heights area ice creamery that's super popular with the neighborhood! Everytime I drove and walked passed Mitchell's it was packed! We had it the other night and the lines moved quick (we were number 38 and when we walked in it was currently number 16). We waited about 15 minutes in the sea of people. Michell's has tons of traditional flavors but has a fresh and extensive "tropical" selection of ice cream (Ube, halo halo, young coconut, etc.). I had the halo halo and tropical 4 double scoops on a waffle cone! Awesome! Good times, be patient with the wait, Michell's is worth the wait on a warm frisco day!Parking in the back and also street parking.
