Tiffany’s 5-star review: I was in serious need of a massage and decided to try out this place because of the great reviews and it's just a few blocks away from my apartment. I called ahead of time to see if it would be ok to walk in but had a hard time understanding the person who picked up the phone. Luckily I just walked in and David greeted me. Helen was my massage therapist. It was just what I needed and felt like more than an hour. It's $50 for an hour but now they offer shorter times as well. The place is clean but you can hear people passing by or David on the phone. Not a big deal though, I'll be back! -
Tiffany’s 4-star review: Akrati and I got there a little on the later side at 6:45 and were directed upstairs. Got to try the deer daisy, which was this lemon-y drink with tequila. I haven't had the best experiences with tequila -- but I digress -- this one was good! I also really enjoyed the bite-sized mini grilled cheese sandwiches. We were too late to get a taste of the cucumber with peanut butter hummus but enjoyed seeing some old friends Maki and Jordan. We found 2 seats once we got there and situated ourselves so I totally forgot to check out the views and the balcony area! Guess that just means I have to come back. -
Tiffany’s 4-star review: I had been wanting to come to this place since I saw it featured in Zagat as Fat Radish's new UES sibling. Have I ever been to Fat Radish before? No. But since moving to UES a few months ago, I've been overwhelmed by all the restaurants and have a hard time actually deciding where to eat... first world problems. I called on a Friday around 7:30pm asking if they would be able to seat me and my plus one for dinner in 20 minutes. They said they were booked until 9:45pm for dinner seating but had outdoor seating, an upstairs communal table, and bar seating available. This was one of those days where we were in the heart of fall and it was high 60s/70 degrees so when we got there around 8:15pm, we opted for the outdoor seating. There was only one other group of two out there but by the time we left, the place was bustling. Instead of bread, they brought out radishes. Then, my plus one and I both ordered appetizers... which were ~$17 a piece. I got the caesar kale salad and he got the beet salad. I was deciding between the salad and the burger but opted for the salad because it had such glowing reviews on yelp (the burger has great reviews too but I knew if I got it, I'd probably regret it later). My salad was VERY good and pretty large for an appetizer. I was impressed and it was enough to fill me up. Add on top of that a $15 glass of wine for my plus one and a cocktail for me and out bill was $40 each... for appetizers and drinks. I noted the prices to my plus one but he told me that the place seemed to cater to businesspeople. I'm not sure if that justifies it, but ok. -
Tiffany’s 5-star review: When I searched for "bar" in the vicinity, this was one of a few places that popped up with decent Yelp reviews. My friend and I arrived around 8:15 on a Monday and the place was pretty empty so we sat by the window. I ordered a berry cocktail and then we shared a mac and cheese and meat flatbread. We were waiting for our food for awhile when we realized the kitchen hadn't gotten it... so our server sent us a complimentary bread and dip dish to apologize for the error. Really appreciated the attentiveness. And when there was a mixup with our check, our server was quick to find a solution as well. Will probably be back again :-) A really cute place to catch up with an old friend (or maybe a date)! -
Tiffany’s 4-star review: Came here on a Sunday afternoon to meet my friend and her roomate. I was starving! I ordered the ostrich burger cooked medium rare and we ordered some fries for the table... we devoured everything. This place really hit the spot. -
Tiffany’s 4-star review: Came here for dinner on a Sunday night. I ordered the sweet corn tempura to start. My plus one got a cold eggplant dish. Both were very good. I then got the udon with shrimp tempura, which I also liked! Finally, closed it off with the green tea pudding, per Yelp reviews. And all the hype is right--it was amazing! The place is small, can maybe sit 15 at most. -
Tiffany’s 4-star review: Came here for a 2pm brunch on Saturday. Maybe it was because it was 2pm, but there weren't that many people there when we arrived. I ordered the tofu benedict. My plus one ordered the beet salad. Both dishes were great. We're not vegetarian but I would come back again. -
Tiffany’s 4-star review: So I have to admit that I came here for brunch AND dinner/drinks... on the same day. Brunch was pretty standard--I came with my plus one and we split the eggs benedict and pork breakfast tacos. There wasn't much "breakfast" about the breakfast tacos but I thought it was a solid lunch-ish meal. The side salad that came with the dish was kind of "meh" as well. But on our way out, my plus one was like, "This place seems cool, would love to come for dinner or when there's live music." Fast forward a few hours. i'm going to see a movie with 2 girl friends and one suggests ABV for dinner and drinks! We ordered the rosee flight, the asparagus, and fish tacos. I enjoyed the whole meal and it came out to $38 with tax and tip, which wasn't too bad by NYC standards. I would recommend all 3. Dinner here probably wins by a longshot. -
Tiffany’s 5-star review: The last time I was here was almost 2.5 years ago. At the time, we weren't seated in the main dining room but the small area to the left of the bar. This time, I was looking to celebrate my plus one's birthday. I called exactly a month before and was able to secure 8:30pm on a Friday. I let them know it was his birthday and they said they would make sure they would note it. This time, they seated us in the main dining room on the side overlooking the center. It was a nice location because some of the other tables had couples sitting next to each other and staring at our backs. We ordered the 3 course prix fixe. The highlight was probably when it came time for dessert, and the birthday boy asked the server for a recommendation between two of the desserts. The server said "I will take care of it," grabbed the menus, and walked away. When he returned, he brought out both desserts for the birthday boy (including the Happy Birthday message and candle on one of them)! It was a really nice touch and very thoughtful of our server to do something like that for this special occassion!

Tiffany’s 5-star review: For some reason, I ended up in UES, way outside of my home turf downtown. Luckily, my friend lived in the area and knew where to go. We were a little early for our reservation but were seated within 5-10 minutes of getting there at this corner table in their back garden seating area. I ordered their special for the night, striped bass. I don't really remember the wine or if we ordered anything else, but there are two things I do remember 1) our server was really great and 2) at the end of the meal, I made a comment that my bass dish was exactly how I imagined it should be. Amazing.

Tiffany’s 4-star review: I have a feeling this place is a hidden gem of the upper east side. I would highly recommend ordering the house-made doughnuts. We ordered them for the table to share, and I'm not usually a fan of sweet things in the mornings but these were really great. I'd probably come back just for these. I think I may have ordered the eggs benedict or the salmon benedict, but it came with a drink and I decided to try the Maplejack Apple Pie (house special). Boy, was that strong. Only thing was the service was a little odd. -
Tiffany’s 5-star review: My plus one and I were in need of a back massage. We looked on Yelp and called this place. They were able to squeeze us in. Once we got there, we were shuffled into curtained areas in the back. I believe it was $28 for a 30 minute massage. There isn't really a closed space between the woman at the front and the massage "rooms," so I overheard her turn away two people who walked in so I would definitely call in advance. After we got out, we decided we want to do this more often... and this might be our place! -
Tiffany’s 3-star review: I saw The Heat here yesterday. The theatre was located two levels below where I entered, which meant no cell phone service. This was one of those theaters that didn't really have the tiered seating and a large aisle down the middle... so every seat wasn't really a prime seat. The movie was hilarious though. -
Tiffany’s 4-star review: I have been coming here for the past 8 months because I bought a Groupon for waxing services. Location is right by Grand Central, they are open on the weekends, and you can easily make an appointment online. Neelam is great! She was always so friendly and remembered me even though I came back pretty sporadically.

Tiffany’s 4-star review: Came here for with the plus one during the week of "no power" post-superstorm sandy. It was a celebratory dinner of sorts and we were seated at the "chef's table" watching our neverending sushi being made. I like the concept. Didn't cover the bill but they charged by the roll so have a feeling it wasn't pretty. -
Tiffany’s 3-star review: Maybe deciding to come here with my mom was not the best idea. We had a pre-theater dinner here. The bread I thought was really nice, but my mom complained that it was salty and greasy. Then we had the scallops, which my mom also thought were too salty. So she asked our server to make sure that her entree was not salty. They ended up bringing us out the scallop appetizer again--this time without the salt! I ordered a small chitarra, but I think because of my mom's comment, they put no salt in it and it had no taste. I decided not to make a big deal out of it because of the ruckus I thought we already caused. I thought I would close dinner with a dessert wine, and the sommelier brought out two types of moscato for me to try. I chose the dinarello but my glass smelled like soap... which my mom then made a fuss over and they offered to pour me a new glass but I thought it was fine. Five stars for amazing service. Just didn't seem to get everything else quite right. Maybe it was my mom. -
Tiffany’s 4-star review: I met my friend here at 9ish on a Wednesday night. We showed them our IDs at the door and they took us to our little table in the corner. It's a small place and while we did get seats, we were facing another party of 6 or so guys sitting in front of us. I ordered the Prohibition Punch. It came in one of those big fat grand margarita glasses. When we left at 10:15 the place started to get packed. -
Tiffany’s 4-star review: After living in the city for 1.5 years, I have yet to settle on a place to get a haircut. I purchased a Groupon for $39 and made a reservation last Friday. I didn't really know what I wanted but Nicole did a great job with little direction. She was with me from wash to cut to blowdry and I was not disappointed. -
Tiffany’s 4-star review: Met my friend here on a Sunday night at 7pm. The place is small (has maybe 5-6 tables of two and a bar) and can fill up quickly, but we got there at a good time and there was literally no one there. They have a cute chalkboard of most popularly ordered dishes, and I ordered #3 Hakata Ramen. They brought it out in like 3 minutes--bonus for the super fast service (not sure if that was also a function of us being the only ones there). Fairly large portion and pretty good. -
Tiffany’s 3-star review: Disclaimer: this was my first facial (and I had been meaning to publish this January 2011). Facials are a little risky for me in general because I have sensitive skin, but I bought one of those deals from LivingSocial for an hour long European facial (the spa offers a similar deal through their Early Bird special). I made a same day appointment for their last appointment on a Saturday with Agata (based on reviews). In the wintertime, I have especially dry skin, but I generally have combination skin, which she caught and she recommended a skincare regime (a bit pricey costing ~$100)--I still use the cleanser and toner to this day. Not sure my appointment was entirely the hour, but I guess I got what I paid for. When I left, they gave me a little goodie bag with a coupon and some samples for moisturizer. -
Tiffany’s 4-star review: We decided to check this place out because my friend had heard about it. The place is described as a whole in the wall, partly because its tiny with a huge black door--you wouldn't even really know what was going on there unless you knew the place. There was no doorman, but when we opened the door, the place was packed with people. We stood by the door for a bit because there wasn't really anywhere to move. After awhile, we moved closer to the live pianist/singer. Then we managed to get some seats! I requested a song and my friends and I stayed there until about 2am. The bartender/waitress also sing and the pianist is also an amazing singer. I was quite impressed and had a blast belting to some of my favorite oldies and "newies." The people who frequent this bar are older (late 20s/early 30s)... but as the night gets later, the crowd gets younger. The one thing that struck was that most of the people seemed really friendly--and what better way to meet some new people than over a shared interest in music. We went in not knowing to expect, but I'm a big fan of people who can sing well and a friendly atmosphere. I'm giving it 4 stars because its a place that had to grow on you since you'd be surprised by how crowded it is. -
Tiffany’s 3-star review: I ventured here for lunch with a friend yesterday. The place is pretty packed during lunch hour with cafeteria-style, bar-height seating, we managed to get a seat at one of the tables. I'd say the turnaround time is pretty quick (in terms of the tables). They really sell you on getting the combo (~$10), which includes a sandwich, fries and a drink. A sandwich on its own is about $8. There aren't very many options for combo sandwiches but I got the cheeseburger and sweet potato fries. I feel like it was one of those situations where you order the combo because you think it's a good deal but then regret it afterward because you ate way too much. I'd say getting 2 sandwiches and 1 fries would be a good bet, but that could just be me. The wait for the food did take a bit of time but we were eating there so didn't mind. I wasn't wowed by the place and thought the burgers were a little overpriced... isn't Shake Shack cheaper? -
Tiffany’s 5-star review: After 3.5 years in NYC... I finally made it to Alice's Tea Cup! Had a friend visiting and she wanted to grab brunch. I proposed a few places in the area and chose this. I was expecting a wait, but figured it would be good to catch up anyway so didn't mind. I got there around 12:30pm. I asked if there was a wait, and the hostess told me they were clearing up tables and could seat us once my friend arrived. She arrived around 12:45pm and they were able to seat us right away. Wait. Did that really happen? We ordered the Indian Chai and 2 scones (blackberry and chocolate). The scones are pretty large... like big enough for a meal. I ordered the omelette with bacon and my friend ordered the pancakes. We were both very full at the end. Now here's the reason why this place gets 5 stars. When they cleared our plates, my friend still had some pancakes she was going to take. They accidentally threw them away so made her new fresh pancakes to take to go! That's A+ service right there. -
Tiffany’s 4-star review: Met a friend here on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving to grab some after-work drinks. Space seemed pretty large with a bar area (with tables lined behind the bar) and a dining area in the back. I ordered the The Clay-Kiser Peach (white peach, fresh lemon, Bourbon). I've never been very good at picking out drinks for myself but boy was this drink strong! After we were there for awhile, we also decided to get a side of fries and brussels sprouts. I'll admit I have a slight addiction to fries. The fries were ok but I really liked the brussels sprouts! I paid $27 for my drink and split the sides. This is a nice place close to work to grab drinks, a little on the pricey side. -
Tiffany’s 5-star review: This is what I would call a "hidden gem" of ramen places. You might even miss it. It's located on a the second floor of another lunch-y/grab and go type of place. My friend and I came here for lunch on a Friday around 12:45pm. We were seated right away. The lunch menu is pretty bare (there are maybe 4 noodle options) but I've never been one to want too many options. I went with the miso ramen with pork. Noodles fresh, broth hit the spot, and vegetables perfect. And get this, it was $9! Seriously you can't beat that. I'll probably be back to try some of their other ramen dishes. -
Tiffany’s 4-star review: The first time I came here was right after Sandy and there was no line... So when my friend in town asked if I could pick up some macarons for his gf, I didn't think much about it. I went over around 4:50p on a Saturday. The line was outside the store down the block toward 70th (not yet around the corner). I think I finally got into the store around 5:30p and then ordered 6 macarons for her and 2 (vanilla and pistachio) for me and my plus one. The weather wasn't bad so the wait was bearable. I probably wouldn't have braved the line for myself. I never really got into macarons because my first experience trying them the macarons were stale (I waited too long to open to box). This time, they were weren't stale! So light--I really like the vanilla one. Colored macarons kind of freak me out, I'm not sure why. Total came out to $26 for the 8 macarons. -
Tiffany’s 5-star review: I came here on a Saturday morning for a Fundamentals of Yoga class. It was my first time coming here and they actually let me take the class free of charge just to get a sense for what the classes were like. There were maybe 8 people in the class... it was very intimate, and the instructor was patient and gave everyone individual attention. -
Tiffany’s 5-star review: I came here for lunch on a random weekday. We didn't have a reservation but only had to wait a few minutes to get seated. I ordered the pork buns (2 for $5 I think) and the king harami lunch set ($12). Wow... so much food for less than $20! The lunch set comes with skirt steak, rice, soup salad and kimchi! Definitely want to come back here... and think just one of the lunch sets is more than enough! :-) -
Tiffany’s 4-star review: What a cute place. I don't normally like to take my mom places I've never tried before but she was in town and I managed to get a reservation. Plus, you can't go wrong with Italian. My mom asked me, "why do we always go to Italian places?" I ordered the beet salad to start and the mussel and gnocchi special. I still think Apizz does gnocchi best but... live piano player and singer in an intimate space that fits about 20? My plus one and my mom ordered the sea bass. My mom thought her dish (the sea bass special on potatoes) was a bit oily/greasy. My plus one's sea bass was grilled, so it was a bit, dry, but I liked the mixed vegetables. Again, cute. I'd come back.

Tiffany’s 5-star review: This is how it's done. I was so full of yummy food afterward I forgot to write a review. Endless fries, sweet potato fries, half burgers, brooklyn burgers, cinco de mayo burgers, chicken strips, spicy chicken, strips, ice cream.... And we all left with goodie bags. I'm coming back to introduce my plus one to Clarke's using the free combo and ice cream tokens that we got at the end! :-) Also met some cool people. Two thumbs up to the Clarke's Standard team and Ruggy!
